TToT -the Wakefield Doctrine-

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

This is the Wakefield Doctrine’s contribution to the Ten Things of Thankful (TToT) bloghop. Originally conceived to external validation for the non-comprehensible, this grat blog has thrived as well as survived.

The rules are simple, the standards lax. Try it! It’s fun and beneficial. Below is a list of the people, places and things that are noteworthy for having inspired a state of gratitude in the mind of your Humble Curator.

1) Phyllis

2) Una

3) the Wakefield Doctrine

4) proximity of the ocean, (well, oceanographically, the body of water in our photo at the top of this post is Block Island Sound,) that allows us the luxury of, instead of going straight home, lets swing by the ocean and see what we can smell.

5) the Six Sentence Story bloghop

6) Hey! You’re write! We haven’t done a ‘I betcha that you: a) have already read this or, 2) should, do, and can thank us later. Without adieu and in no conscious order of desirability:

  • Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes
  • The Sentinel by Arthur C Clarke
  • All you Zombies by Robert Heinlein
  • Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card
  • It’s a Good Life by Jerome Bixby

Damn! Just realized, each of the above were short, (and some short, short) stories that became novels and/or movies.

Let us know what’cha think!

7) a dog, a ball and a chromatic hotspot

8) the Unicorn Challenge bloghop

9) something, something

10) Secret Rule 1.3

clarkscottroger About clarkscottroger
Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one

    Very nice, especially 7)
    Thank you

  2. Flowers for Algernon always makes me somber (in all 3 versions).

(speaking as a native Y Chromian)… it totally bummed me out when I read it the first time.

  3. Oh, how I miss (#4) across the street.
Thanks always for #5 and shout out and your participation.
I fear I’ve only read 2 out of the 5. I best get those others on the “to read” list!

  4. Misky says:

#4 There’s nothing to compare. That dominant mineral-rich, intertidal, polarising , cool dampness that only the sea can give. Love it.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

can’t imagine living more than our current 20 minute drive to the ocean

  5. Kristi says:

I don’t do a great job of remembering the books I read, but I’m pretty sure I read Flowers for Algernon, and perhaps Ender’s Game. I will check out the other suggestions (and perhaps revisit the ones I think I’ve read just to make sure!)

    #7–who is that dog?

(A friendly reminder to link up to this blog hop!) :-)
