Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)
Sure, Ten Things (of Thankful) sometimes seems like a long list. Other times, it’s all, like, “Wait…wait, I gots some more and I’m running out of single digits!”
Following are the people, places and things that engender, incite, encourage and otherwise elicit the mood, state, apprehension of the world, commonly referred to as gratitude.
1) Una
2) Phyllis
3) the Wakefield Doctrine You know how, from time to time, you’ll come across, in these pages, a photo of the progenitor clarks, scotts and rogers? Three men of indeterminate age and questionable intention, standing (posing, really), in relatively formal dress. Ties and such and the room itself is formal. Most New Readers are able, after briefly scanning the descriptions of the relationship between each of the three and the world around them, to successfully identify their respective worldviews.( btw, as a reminder, the Wakefield Doctrine is gender, age and culture neutral.) So here’s a picture of a clark, a scott and roger.
Care to guess who is the clark, scott and roger?
4) the Six Sentence Story bloghop
5) serial stories: ‘the Whitechapel Interlude‘, ‘the Case of the Missing Fig Leaf‘ and ‘Tales from the Six Sentence Café & Bistro‘
6) Music(k) to Soothe the Savage Anxious Breast (canine iteration). No, serially, Una enjoys this and one other cover by the Heavy Metal Heroes.
7) Speaking of Una. Here’s a Guest Grat from Phyllis: “Grateful to iron by music from new TV.” Bonus: Find the dog in the photo and be eligible for a Wakefield Doctrine tee shirt.*
8) Triffid garden. This year we have decided to confine the thistle to the strip of lawn dug up in the spring for the power line to Phyllis’s cottage.
9) Geographical location. The photo at the top of this post was taken from the shore (at a beach club in Narragansett RI) of the Atlantic Ocean. It was all of a twenty minute drive. What’s not to Grat?
10) Secret Rule 1.3
*Supplies currently non-existent; some restrictions may apply, but the Winner would be totally at the top of the list.
Hey! Speaking of limited supplies, the thumbnail on today’s post is the cover of a most excellent thing: Friend of the Doctrine Cynthia’s Coloring Book for Adults. Not sure if it’s sold out, but clink the link and find out if any remain available. Tell ’em the Doctrine sent ya.
