Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)
This is the Ten Things of Thankful bloghop.
Busy day today4.
Qucik backstory: Lizzi, long-rumored to be an adopted grandniece of CS (‘my-future-fans-will-be-delighted-to-learn-I-preferred-the-name-‘Jack’-go-ahead-and-ask’) Lewis5. In any event, she created this bloghop and, in doing so, made only one questionable decision: she invited the Wakefield Doctrine to join the ranks of co-hosts. Well, naturally, one thing led to another, and, as they say, the rest is a mystery. Actually, the one variation in what would have been a very forthright and respectable tenure as a leading 6 blog is to be found in Item 10.

7) We gotta give it up for the internet, (in general), and the ‘world’s-largest-free-used-books-and-magazine-store’ that it has manifested as, (in particular)… so, the ‘I know that saying!…’ in the caption of the top photo? If you’re here, still reading, you’re surely familiar with Omar Khayyam and apparently some DOWG by the name of Edward Fitzgerald.

9) something, something
10) Secret Rule 1.3 from the Book of Secret Rules, (aka the Secret Book of Rules) ‘…[j]ust getting within five items of the end, and that’s something to be grateful for…which then means, when you think about it, you’re within four…. and you can do four more standing on your head!‘ (You got this. If you need a ‘loaner grat’ let us know, we’ll be happy to help a blogger out.

Bonus photo from a trip today out to the property. Sure, you’re thinking, ‘A summer church, secured for the winter season. Bars on the doors, not so odd’. On the outsides of the doors?!?

Very cool photo at the top!
The new CS movie sounds interesting.
Curious about that listing in #4. . .will the owner be paying property taxes, etc. to two different states?
Love the photo of that church. It looks very similar to a photo I have seen of a building in the hills of Arkansas. My grandfather preached there on Sundays, but during the week children went to school there.
Hope you get some warm weather coming your way, Clark. It sounds like your area could use some.
Yes, to what extent, I’ll find out this week (after I’ve talked to the people at the Voluntown Town Hall).
It moderated a bit today and with a shower melted a good amount of the snow on the ground.
Did you notice how condensation on the rock is in the shape of a smile?
Very cool.
Thank you.
Fun, fun, fun. Since we’re in the f’s what’s up with that number 4?! How wild is that!
It is an interesting thing to do to a church. Barricade the doors. I’m sure you’re right. Nothing can get out (uh, huh…)
Monolith with snow cap/helmet/hat :D
yeah should be an interesting property.
Cool photos, and i’d want to know how the original owner of the property managed to get building permits. Yeah, i think too much, so sue me.
rural area, not a good bet… actually I got a look into the basement (from the outside, as the floor on the inside had collapsed into said basement)… according to the neighbors, it’s been vacant for at least 10 years. there is a recreational-sized lake across the street (Bailey Pond) and so this house would have started life as a summer camp kind of house then added on to over the years.
(Actually the ‘discovery/investigation aspect is kinda fun, the thinking kind of fun that our people enjoy)
Paying taxes on that property must be a pain. And bars on the OUTSIDE? Def haunted.
yeah… it’s gots to be the most…. “Wait a mintue! Back up the car!!! Back up the car!” place in the state.
