TToT -the Wakefield Doctrine-

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

Here we are again! The weekend and time to join in the Ten Things of Thankful bloghop. (technically, the ‘hop started on, like this Thursday), but habits, well, not so easy to discard1 Our host is Kristi. She organizes and sends out the link each week.2

I sit here3 and type words that reflect a view of my reality4,5 and send it in via said link.

You should join us, even if only a single ‘Grat’. 6

It’s not just a list of the people, places and things that sparks a sense of gratitude, although some of our TToT’ers write posts that are elegant in their simplicity and moving in the depth of feeling they convey. It can be something as fundamental as photos7 and the occasional music video8 that, somehow, manage to evoke the emotions behind these words that the skill has not yet manifested.

And, as to the traditional summertime question about temperature? No. No, it is not.

Secret Rule 1.310

Well, that certainly makes the most of the magic of footnotes.

3) Surely the most self-evident of Grat Items: Technology. Which, if I might offer, is to this bloghop as …er are palm fronds and bamboo to Gilligan’s Island.

10) from the Book of Secret Rules (aka the Secret Book of Rules) which states, in part” “… [w]hen using superscript, like for footnotes and such, the citation at the bottom of the page need not be limited by the shackles of the Chicago Manual of Style or nothin…. ordinal or any of those arbitrary-keep-ya-from-getting-an-‘A’-just because-you-didn’t-remember-that-’10’-comes-after-‘4′-instead-of-in-front’. (op.cit, ibid, thanks to Alfred Bester and his wonderful ‘The Stars are My Destination‘  for that trope)

6) THIS SPACE AVAILABLE for anyone wanting to try out a single Grat. (By definition, this would be a new reader to the TToT… good luck on the ‘what the heck is this?!! effect of a certain blog which shall remain un-named.)

1) the Wakefield Doctrine the preeminent tool for: a) self-improving oneself and 2) having fun doing it and c) acquiring one more perspective on this world that surrounds us.

7) photo of Una on guard duty and hail-fellow-well-met attitude of the plant life here

5) Phyllis

4) Una

5) Chapter 5 of the Serial, ‘The Case of the Missing Starr’. You can read it at the Facebook, (don’t forget to follow me and like the heck out of it). Or, for true dyed-in-the-wool bloggers, read it at my blog here.

2) the links to this here bloghop here.

8) Tell me I’m the only one who, when this video started, thought, “Holy Smoke! Christopher Walken!”*

* from the movie ‘Annie Hall’

oh! that’s right! I’m a co-host…. where’d I put those links. Hey! Dyanne!! did ‘ja see where I put the postlink?!

You are invited to the Inlinkz link party!

clarkscottroger About clarkscottroger
Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one

Comments

  1. The manual of style is for when you are taking your ACT, or writing that thesis paper for your senior year English class. Gracefully leave it behind when you are ready to tell your own story.

Love how you make me smile and laugh with every grat list.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

Probably won’t have trouble with that (leaving behind the CMS…lol)
      have a good week

  2. Lisa Tomey says:

Always interesting gratefuls and it would not be complete without your beloved Phyllis and Una.

  3. Kristi says:

Oh, this earns an A all right!
Una’s quite the observant one, isn’t she?

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

the fun thing about dogs, is the sensitivity of their noses, there will be times when Una simply jumps up from the floor barking… then running to the windows.

  4. phyllis0711 says:

I love that you always mention Una and me (and I love when in that order), but I guess I am too much of a Roger to enjoy having the numbers out of order LOL.

  5. Sageleaf says:

I love Phyllis and I love that car! Hehe. I think about my next car and debate with myself finding something that isn’t too small, might have four wheel drive when I need it, but scoots around like it’s in a horse race. Now that makes me wonder if clarks drive different cars than scotts who might drive different cars than rogers. It would seem the scotts have the flashiest cars, the rogers have all the Subarus (with the exception of Phyllis), and the clarks might have the ones with the gadgets and allow them to zip around unnoticed.

  6. Pat Brockett says:

I totally enjoy your summation of what the TToT group is all about and the types of posts that show up in this blog hop.

As is confirmed here, there are deer from coast to coast. :-)

I guess I’m somewhat of a Roger this time around. I was jumping all over the place trying to put this numbers in order, but I did it! HaHa

    Very enjoyable TToT!

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

nothing wrong with being a roger, organized and sustained civilization depends on the constancy of the Herd Member. It is a fun ‘hop.

  7. Fun TToT!
I will never tire of that clip from Annie Hall, lol

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

surely the standout line (along with after the tennis game and Jeff Goldblum’s watch for it throwaway line)

  8. dyannedillon says:

I have enough trouble keeping track of that link, and now I have to find YOURS?! Props to Una for getting TWO thankfuls this week!
