TToT -the Wakefield Doctrine-

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

20160930_071252

Our Founderess, Lizzi Lewis, is still on her adventure (work-related, adventurous, nonetheless) so, let’s try what we did last week, I’ll post links to posts behind photos below.

1)  the internets  ’cause otherwise, this’d be nothing more than writing on a chalkboard hung on the wall at my house.

2) this bloghop: Lizzi and the co-hostinae’s efforts over the years, (yes, it’s been years now)

3) Phyllis and Una, not only because they are a permanent (to date) feature of my TToT, but because each week they exhibit behavior that, if I manage to allow myself to see, offers an opportunity to self-improve myself (except for the brevity and directness thing… that’s kinda, let’s go with ‘work-in-progress’)

4) my work and profession, if for no other reason than it allows me the luxury of control of my time. The price is that, by being in business, all my income is directly dependent on my efforts and actions, but, what the heck. (I’ve done other work in my past and this is best suited to who and what I am at the moment. Sometimes, when we’re watching, ‘How It’s Made’ (which is surely the height of television entertainment these days), they’ll be doing a piece that involves assembly lines. I always say the same thing, ‘8 hours a day…5 days a week’. I have the utmost admiration for those able to work at repetitive tasks (and still bring a level of concentration that evaporates in the third cycle, were I to attempt it.)

5) Lets have an intermission!  Anyone out there participating, I’ll post here:

6) the Book of Secret Rules (aka the Secret Book of Rules)

7)Almira‘ approaching (still!) the end. It’s like (fill in the blank, you’re all imaginative people, you can provide your own metaphor), the pressure builds to do justice to the story that has un-folded over nearly a year, intermixed with times of remembering the simple fun of constructing improbably long sentences, ignoring all the rules and standards for proper fiction and seeing the scene. I’m sure I’ll see the dimming of the light in a week or two.

8) the Wakefield Doctrine  the total sine qua non, it (the Doctrine) is the reason I am able to write this blog and it is the (original) motivation for writing, which in turn sparked my interest in writing.

9) Hey!  new Graviteer has joined the Gravity Challenge… long time TToT participant, May!!  Hey ho, May! (Hey Readers, TToTeers you totally need to stop by the Challenge this week, if for no other reason than to check out the very excellent scale that May is employing. tres cool.)

clarkscottroger About clarkscottroger
Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one

  1. Good Morning Clark! Checking out what others are thankful for this morning before I begin my own list. As usual, you have a bunch of good ones! I think you are very blessed to have a career which enables you to work as hard or as little as you want to earn income and allows you to schedule your time as desired. At times I’ve thought assembly work would be attractive due to the lack of stress, but like you, I think the boredom would eventually kill me (or injure me from distraction as I tend to daydream anyway). As for brevity, it is something I am unlikely to ever achieve, as is obvious by my long-winded comments. :-) That’s why I do Six Sentence Stories each week, it forces me to collect my rambling thoughts just enough to masquerade as coherent tale. I’ll be back in a bit with my list for you to link up! Thank you for taking charge in Lizzi’s absence.

lol I read something somewhere once that the key aptitude test for subway car drivers is ‘a lack of curiosity’ no, really! I kinda get that… the brain is always scampering off and getting me into trouble if I’m not engaged enough

I didn’t realize how you were doing this … Thank Josie for the direction… Still shoeless Clark I see!!! Hears my link…unchartedblogdotorg.wordpress.com/2017/01/28/so-the-great-unsticking-has-begun-but-what-are-you-doing-about-it/…thanks !

  4. #3 for surely it is about the seeing and not the looking :)
#4 I applaud all the self employed. Having said that, while having huge advantages, it is way more challenging than working a 9-5. But wait! 9-5 (I’ve returned to that world after leaving the world of self employed) can also be way more challenging for that whole “repetitive” thing. It is only through participation in our immediate surroundings that allows for the potential to ameliorate the 9-5 existence. Or some such sh@*.

Nice list. I will miss Almira and will “write” my own ending for now :D

Congrats May! I’ve considered joining my own self. Accountability. I like it!

Hey! Somebody give zoe a hand, huh?

Zoe commented on what I was going to say–bare feet in January in your neck of the woods? Just a hint–I know you like warm weather–you might try socks and shoes and you might be warmer! :-)

alas! I should have put a date on the photo late fall, not the day before yesterday, all though, last week not only was hitting 50s but the ground had thawed a bit.

  6. Sageleaf says:

Your interest in writing has REALLY blossomed: Almira, but all stemming from this here blog. So glad I found you in that blogger’s group years (has it been years!?) ago.
So glad for your continuation of blogging fun. Glad for a lot of things. :)

Hope you’re having a good weekend!

Thanks for giving us a place to link up while Lizzi is on her adventure. Being able to have the luxury of controlling the use of your time. I discovered years ago that doing the exact same thing over and over again becomes boring very quickly and may cause strain on the body. That is just not the best job for me. So with almost coming to the end of Almira, do you already have other book ideas rumbling through your mind.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      totally welcome.
yes, I do have an idea, actually it’s a story I tried to do before the current two, and, for some reason, I think I’ll try to write it as a novella (20-40k) rather than the full novel format. Should be an interesting experience.
