TToT -the Wakefield Doctrine- (why, yes… I do have a problem with doing things like everyone else…)

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

award-sisterhood

…it started innocently enough. I read Sarah’s TToT Post yesterday, which in part said:

But I’m also thankful for Lisa’s gift (sort of) of this Bloggy Sisterhood Award, and I’m gonna finish up this TToT with my answers. Thank you, Lisa! It always feels good to be liked!

Since I’m incorporating these questions into my TToT (and Lizzi and Lisa have taken most of the bloggers in our circle already), I’ll just award my questions (following) to the third, sixth, tenth, eleventh, fifteenth, and seventeenth people to link up this weekend.

(“3,4, carry the…. oh oh“)

to answer:

1. What do you think you could eat for the longest number of days without getting sick of it?
The honest answer is: years  no, seriously. there have been times in my life, especially before I met Phyllis (yeah…big surprise that) when I would eat the same food… there were the hot dogs and Sprite years… then there was the time that noodles and butter met my gustatory needs.
2. How often do you shower and wash your hair?
Everyday.
3. What actor or actress would you like to play you in a movie about your life?
Bill Nye  or Umma Thurman
4. Name something you wish you had never thrown away. Explain.
My youth
5. Are you a good dancer? What makes you good (or bad)?
No.  Short answer: because I’m a (male) clark  Less short answer: because I am afraid of being laughed at by people who, by all measure (social, psychological, philological and philosophical ) are total stranger who I might never ever be in the same room again with..
6. What fictional character would you like to have dinner with tonight? Why?
don Juan  (no! not that don Juan!! don Juan Mateus!)
7. What do you plan to purchase next? Why?
work stuff  (for work)
8. Look up at this very moment. What do you see?
the view out the window in my Office (at work)…
9. Tell about a favorite childhood toy.
a teddy bear (no name)..broken arm…remnants of a sound function…. oh and the ‘sand machine’ in the detached garage in our house in the Vineyard
10. What is something you do every single day without fail?
look to find the path

clarkscottroger About clarkscottroger
Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one

Clark, I was number 17. I’ll be posting later in the week.

  2. christine says:

You did it!?!? You actually did a personal post without flinching or avoiding!! Good for you! I’m so excited!

    1. You are so fortunate to have met and married Phyllis. Sprite and hot dogs? Your poor stomach.
    3. Hahaha!
    4. Good one, but from what little I do know about you, it doesn’t sound like you threw it away.

      Christine

(well, I do have the Wakefield Doctrine…and am aware of the consequences of flinching when in the company of inhabitants of certain worldviews…lol)
      Thank you…

  3. ivywalker says:

wow!!!! A personal expose’! Way to go Sarah! Way to go Clark!

I could totally see Bill Nye playing your part. He is one of my favorite guys btw.

Does Phyllis cook or does being married just make you feel like you have to eat better?

What is a “sand Machine?” Am I asking something stupid? Often I find everyone else knows and I just don’t when it comes to kid stuff… no wasted youth here…hahahhah….

    • ivywalker says:

Hey does this mean youre one of the SISTAS now!?

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      thank you, z

Phyllis is a real person and so cooks, our schedules make for actual meals pretty much only on weekends… (as to my eating habits before, very simple: I’ve never gotten much out of eating, other than ‘no longer being hungry’… sure, I like some foods more than others… but it’s not a pleasure for it’s own sake aspect of my life

ah! the sand machine (god! nursing homes must have such strange conversations….) I haven’t thought about it in years, but the house we lived in had a detached garage (old structure, probably 30 years old then) and I found an opening in the wall that, when dirt was put in, it would come out at the bottom of the wall…on the interior. Some small amount of filtering was no doubt occurring, as the output was of a consistently finer sized particle … hence the name, ‘the sand machine’
damn… I probably don’t want to know how many hours I spent of my 5 year old life working with the sand machine… but, you know… kinda makes sense transformation is the whole point to life, non?

  4. dyannedillon says:

Glad you put on your *ahem* big girl panties and accepted the challenge. It’s always fun to find out things about you. I now have this mental picture of 5 year old you, with your little bucket of dirt and shovel, endlessly scooping up sand off the garage floor.
I could totally see either Bill Nye OR Uma Thurman playing you, except Uma may be too tall.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      lol
      and in better condition!

you know whats cool about this here Doctrine here? the consistency among the image (of the above 5 year old clark at work at the Sand Machine) generated in the heads of any and all the Readers of this blog would be scary high

  5. Kristi says:

The answer to #10 sounds almost rogerian.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

I can see (how that would sound)…perhaps (since I’m all self-revelatory for this post and this post only) this will help (and, don’t forget the ‘everything Rule’)… I did not feel comfortable with capital letters i.e. the Path (or, as an alternate, ‘the Way’)…however I did need the word path as it is a reference to a concept that Castaneda offers: ‘the path with heart’ (I trust that the full statement, with it’s reference to emotion would immediately identify it as something a clark would focus on)…. a roger, not needing the element of emotion (as you people are of that world already)…and, for a clark, there is no one Right Way… just a path with heart.

      ya know?

      • Kristi says:

You know you didn’t have to ask. I understand. (And if I didn’t, well, I’m a roger, right?) lol

  6. Lisa @ The Meaning of Me says:

I love it – such great insights about you, Clark. Bill Nye…excellent choice. Uma Thurman? Hmm…
Love the answer about dancing. That sounds like exactly what my Husband would say.
Now…where are the questions I asked? I did tag ALL the TToT hosts, you know…on Facebook. But wait – you never answered my Friend request so you may not even know that.

  7. I didn’t appreciate how much the TToT hop meant to me until I read this. I vote for Bill Nye to play you, especially during the noodles and butter years.
