there is a way to use this, (the) Wakefield Doctrine that is actually quite practical!

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

1950s Teacher In Front Of Classroom Writing Confidence On Blackboard

You know what’s a real skill to have? The ability to teach! I’m thinking of the kind of teacher who not only can impart knowledge to the student the very first time, (doing whatever the hell it is that Teachers do), but is able to help the pupil or learnee, to learn more about a thing than they already know.  I suspect this is a gift that music teachers, early elementary and graduate school teachers share.

Note: the Rule of ‘everyone does everything at one time or another‘ says that all three personality types can be and, are skilled and effective Teachers. There is no exclusive domain for skills, professions, avocations or talent among the three worldviews. It is simply that how the art/science of ‘teaching’ is manifested in distinctly different ways. For a clark, teaching is one thing, for a scott it is something else and for rogers …completely different, from their perspective. (Warning: new(er) aspect of the Doctrine follows). And since we have just created a thought picture in your minds in the shape of a ‘guidance counselor in high school’, lets expand on this and suggest that and you (the Guidance Counselor) have been assigned the task of recommending the best career choice in the field of education for the 6 students you have been assigned, you might do as follows:

  • clark (female): elementary grades (reasoning: the class is comprised of people that a  clark is able to relate to, and the class does not get defensive with, like they tend to with adults)
  • clark (male): college level teaching (reasoning: most of the bullying, on the part of the students is in the arena of the intellect and the clark will not have a problem …unlike the earlier grades)
  • scott (female): pretty much any grade when one of the primary goals is to ‘kid wrangle‘, when the learning is more teaching ‘fundamental social rules of behavior’, picture  a cross between Cesar Millan and Famke Janssen)
  • scott (male): shop, gym (probably not elementary grades, “so honey what did you learn in school today? oh! mommy the new Teacher knows so much…. pull my finger!”)
  • roger (female): home ec, social studies, history (“I would like to submit to the Board my recommendation for a new Course: “Getting Along without Standing Out 101”  and “Cooking Meals that look perfect”)
  • roger (male): social studies, history, home ec ( ‘hey kids I really talk your language and I will, in fact, pass along things I learn in our private conversations to other students I am trying to impress. It’s never too soon to learn about the real world!”)

We can now clearly see how, the art of teaching represents something different to each of the three (yes, three), while there are undeniable differences in the culturally permitted behavior assigned to each of the two genders, the Wakefield Doctrine is, in fact, gender neutral. The person who grows up in the reality of the Outsider (the clark) finds the students they can best relate to, the Teacher-to-be who is, by personal-social-spritual development, a Predator (scotts) knows that antelopes are much lower mantainance (as feedstock) than, say, a herd of wildebeests and the Herd Member (rogers) simply sees the herd and notes the predators and remembers the blue monkeys (for future use).

So, class   are there any Questions??

….and No! I will not pull my own finger!

* do they still have guidance counselors? I mean the male roger (‘here take this aptitude test, ok clark the scores are back the career you are best suited for is ‘file clerk‘**) or clarklike female (“so what do you like to do, what do you dream of doing“) or scott (“c’mere let me tell ya a thing or two about jobs“)

clarkscottroger About clarkscottroger
Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one

  1. WHAT A COOL SONG/VIDEO. !!!
I was a “kid wrangler” in the art dept. of a private nursery school. I loved it! I got to work with the teeniest ones! 3 of my sons attended that school –2 before and 1 after.
I got paid more than anyone else because I told the head of the school I wouldn’t do it if she didn’t pay me “x amount” … but to be honest, I would have done it for free.
The only other paid teaching (other than jewelry tutorials in magazines and books) was my stint as a Nautilus trainer in the 1980’s BUT DIDN’T EVERYONE DO THAT? I adored it! I LOVED it!

thank you for the ‘confirmation’ ( a friend of mine, a first order scott and the best ‘one call close’ salesman that I know) used a line in interviews, “would love to work at your company, but frankly, you can’t afford me” lol

Nautilus trainer…. ayiee ( a high scottian worldview affinity profession: coach)

I just had a haircut and am getting flattered to heck about my vainglorious selfie so I cannot POSSIBLY concentrate on anything else right now.

But I TRIED to read this.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      lol

yow!! you’ve done it again!! (what I hear) is the suggestion of the possible interplay between dominant and secondary (and tertiary) aspects!! holy shit* take notes!! take goddamn notes!!!

(New Readers: don’t be concerned with the following, it is not crashing the concepts of the Doctrine…just some shorthand notes among the adepts) hey so a selfie is so not a primary clarklike characteristic, today’s Post is quite clarklike, so we are seeing…no, you are seeing…watch for how you feel about your difficulty (actually your desire to) read the POst as opposed to take a photo (of a self)

      very exciting stuff!

      * new Readers? no, I am quite serious

  3. christine says:

I’ve taught lots of different grades, and I have yet to find an age in which the teacher’s job isn’t to “kid-wrangle” and teach social rules.

the term ‘kid wrangling’ is meant more to resonate with the scotts (among Readers) than be a reflection of the tasks (confronted by the Teacher) of any given Class. I suspect, though not having been a Teacher, I will not say for certain, that for each Teacher, one of the first and most fundamental challenge is that of how to exert their Will over the members of his/her class ( I deliberately avoid using terms like, control or discipline or coax as those have a connotation of an individual’s teaching styles, that we know are simply reflections of the (individual) Teachers worldview. I will suggest that scottian teachers would not rank ‘controlling the kids’ as a high level of difficulty (and therefore not a high priority among the goals the Teacher may set for themselves), while a rogerian or clarklike Teacher not only would ascribe a different ‘value’ to this aspect of Teaching and, not surprisingly would relate themselves differently to it (the task). A clarklike Teacher would believe that the path to this ‘imposing their Will’ is a deliberate and conscious effort and a rogerian teacher, more ascribe the problem being more of the nature of pupils, something to be dealt with (and perhaps) overcome.

  4. As a clark teacher teaching lower grades and loving it, well, yeah, I know ALL the people which you describe above. The scott female whom I work with, the mostly rogers that teach middle school and the upper elementary grades, the clark male who is quitting teaching the lower grades to be a drama teacher for adults, yeah. You just described my school. Though I’m still swamped, a new opportunity might be rising: global education coordinator. If I get a chance, I’ll call in on Saturday to explain more. It worries me a bit that global education falls more in line with social studies, but…well…:P

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Cyndi

ain’t nobody I can think of better equipped to deal in ‘global’ than a clark… serially, (but if you need to have others make decisions in order to get the position, remember: the rogers want to hear about them(selves) and scotts…lol well scotts just bring a ball (preferably one with a bell inside for added enjoyment) and a rolled up newspaper…. you’ll do fine!)

we’ll have the lines open Saturday! looking forward to hearing from you
