stream of conscious? did someone say stream of cons…. the Wakefield Doctrine (ok folks Summer’s over, it’s time to get back to work!)

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

Figure_Ground

I will accept compliments (both real and imagined) for this my first second TToT for a (given weekend).

seeing as this is still the TToT, I will strive to: a) make it resemble a list and 2) focus on things that I am grateful for (though this might be a bit of a stretch)

1) I am glad that I am in a position to talk to people I would have otherwise had  (negative) zero chance of even meeting, never mind engaging in a meaningful conversation (yeah, thats most of you people out there)

2) speaking of ‘you people’, I am grateful for the openness to the Wakefield Doctrine among the co-hostini and other participants to my incessant referencing of said amazing insight

3) I am (semi) grateful for the fact that the others had some delays this morning prior to the regularly schedule Wakefield Doctrine Video Brunch

4) …you, on the other hand, might feel differently

5) I am thankful for ‘list Padding’

6) I am glad I retain some sense of limits (to messin with the rules) and trust that it coincides with the perceptions of the group as a whole

7) glad that I just had the insight into what I am missing with my attempts to produce a list that resembles those (lists) that I consider a model and a standard (including but not limited to Christine’s and Lizzi’s and Dyanne’s and them)… and the answer is clearly very simple… and (to a clark) very instructive/enlightening

8) (no the answer was not to add to the list…but what the heel)… it is about that damn  figure ground!!!  clarks… are very,  very  prone-to and adept-at and limited-to and unlimited-by and caught-up-in whatever figure we pull from the background!

9) and so, for the scotts and rogers out there we (clarks) are the classic good news/bad news peoples:  good news:  as Outsiders we have a much greater range of choice when it comes to pulling the figure (we always get those  trompe-l’œil photos like the one above)  but the bad news:  when it comes to simple common sense  assumptions and conclusions and knowing the right thing

Note from Considerer and Michelle, it’s ok to stop now and finish later…cause we’re on a Jetsons call.

Ten Things of Thankful
 Your hosts

clarkscottroger About clarkscottroger
Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one

Oh Clark I do so love your lists. That was a real compliment, not imagined. Zoe

I love it when one of your posts comes all the way around and lets us know why you chose the image you chose to go with a post.

But wait! How can I not start with, “YOU WROTE TWO THANKFUL LIST POSTS IN ONE WEEKEND!!!!”

And in other news, I think I just saw one of our pigs fly past my window.

    :)

    Nice work, Clark.
I, too, am very grateful for the opportunity to meet such a wide range of people through blogging.

    • This is Pig #1 (I bet), who has realised that something is afoot, and who is soon going to be off his (feet) forever…

      Christine

      lol

( you know, the picking of the photos is as much a mystery to me as anyone else, more often than not, when I go back later in the day to read my Post* whatever was working in my sub-conscious shows through and I’m all laughing and ‘damn!’ how clever is that!! but I am as surprised and delighted as the next Reader. don’t tell anyone! I so want people to believe that this is all so calculated clever and such.)

*yes, I don’t often re-read upon prior to hitting ‘publish’… no, I do not feel that you are expressing sufficient shock at the notion…lol

  3. Clark, let me first express my delight at your Twosie, and your list – ordered, regimented, fully self-analytical and the stream of consciousness wended its way round beautifully, through my mind, into one ear, out the other and over my head again. But I did get the painting.

Reporting back from the Jetsons, I have to say I feel a little (okay, a lot) pleased (smug?) with the level of expression expressed on your expressive countenance when you encountered my so-carefully-arranged surprise. I wasn’t sure she (my surprise) was gonna be able to join us (hence the song, and thanks for bearing with THAT tangent) but it was SO much fun :) Looking very much forward to the next WDVB :)

      Lizzi

as you know, clarks are not only not easy to surprise, but we are totally able to cover surprise..unless it is sufficiently ….. surprising.

thank you! what a pleasant surprise, one of the people on my secret wish list of participants in the WDVB

  4. Attempting a TToT blog post. Editing photos now. but still gots like 103 things to do. Rats. Rat race. Of clarks. And stream of consciousness. And cool things.
I don’t know what the hell I’m talking about. :P

  5. Where’s no 10?? I tried to join the bruch last weekend (this one impossible due to sickness) but had troubles how to get there. Do I really need the Google Hangout? Arrrrgggg.. Skype would be SO much easier!

  6. DonettaS says:

I jumped in on the 2nd list. I was very delighted in reading Lizzi’s venture in pairing up, and her big ol’ man brain. I totally 2nd your # 1. I wouldn’t have normally met such awesome people if not for this wonderful weekend of gratitude.

…I am so behind today! thank you for the reminderation and I will make the rounds… which is not something that I feel I must do, it is something that I enjoy doing because it does not just bring home the individual Posts (and their respective lists) but it makes this TToT thing even more realler.

  7. Huge heart. Too tired. Loved and enjoyed this and am so impressed you posted again. I’m thankful that I was one of the faces you saw this morning. And me, yours. That’s pretty excellent.

  8. Waitaminute. You did TWO lists? And the second one was COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY NORMAL?

WHERE IS CLARK AND WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH HIM, YOU IMPOSTOR!

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Dyanne

You know why clarks and scotts almost always have fun together? Because ‘you can never be totally sure with clarks’.

(longer explanation in Doctrine terms: scotts are predators (by worldview) so when a scott encounters another person the first order of business is ‘ranking’ (today’s Post mentions this). By challenging, (figuratively, for the most part), the people they meet, the scott will always determine if they are: dominant or submissive. Fine. Most of the time, if the other person proves to be dominant, they are most likely scotts; if they are submissive, they usually are rogers… and btw the rogers are ok with that (it’s a long story but there is a very special relationship inherent in a scott/roger pairing…thats for another time).

And then there are clarks… the thing scotts like about clarks is that they realize that they just can’t determine ranking, at least to an enduring extent! clarks appear to be passive most of the time, which makes them submissive to scotts but every now and then, the clark will ‘wake up’ and swat their scott… and, of course, the scotts, they don’t mind (in the personal reality of a scott, conflict is not the same as it is with rogers or with clarks).. so the scotts bounces back up laughing, delighted at the surprising turn of events.

and that’s why scotts and clarks get along and have so much fun!
