Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)
A typical day in my life looks like…
Before we begin, allow me to express my gratitude to Janine, Stephanie, Kate and Dawn for FTSF. I’ve said it before, this FTSF is a life-saver, in the sense that it provides me with ‘cover’ to go out and read other people’s blogs and take a rest from the Doctrine*
(so, thanks: clark/secondary rogerian aspect, roger/secondary clarklike aspect, roger/secondary clarklike aspect and clark; the preceding refers to our hostae, but in no particular order and certainly not the order that I have mentioned them here today… come on guys, it’s not gonna be that easy.)
Sorry about the way obvious semi-obscure lyric/cultural reference in the Title (“..yeah but we got the 40 plus demographic covered and we’re only 2 paragraphs invested here…go manipulative clarks!”), I will get serious.
My typical day is this: wake up write blog-stuff go to work feed the dog (lunch and dinner) write blog ‘good and how was your day’ online go to bed (maybe) get up in middle of night online sleep and repeat*
(like that makes sense, lets try this):
Typical Day from the perspective of my predominant clarklike aspect:
- …again?
- again!
- really?
- yes…don’t be like that today might be the day, the one you have worked towards
- …oh …alright
Typical Day from the perspective of my secondary scottian aspect:
- alright!
- hungry
- horny
- bored
- tired
- sleep
- …alright!
Typical Day from the perspective of my tertiary (way, way tertiary…lol) rogerian aspect:
- …hmmm
- perfect…all that I need to do
- …yes, of course!! I understand
- don’t feel that is really the right thing
- …ouch!
- alright if necessary…but slowly
- all right and correct
*all with that horrifyingly objective-as-in-from-a-distance-that-is-really-an-illusion perspective that is the primary distinguishing characteristic of the clarklike worldview
* yeah, right

I liked how you worked in horny for the Scott’s, lol!! Sorry I couldn’t resist, but seriously liked learning about a day in the life of each of the personalities. Great job and also happy we can supply a bit of a break for you. Thank though as always for linking up with us!! :)
@Janine
lol well, it’s not as if all three don’t, it’s just that (part of) the charm of the scottian personality type is the directness and non-holding-back-edness
This was really fun to read and interesting! I love your FTSF posts, especially your video posts while in the car! But this one was great, too!
Joy
@Joy
…yeah, you know how it is, when you have no clue and then something starts to show on the screen and you think, ‘ok I guess I better go along with it, hope it’s not too racy’.
(…speaking of cars, if you find yourself with time on your hands this Saturday Night.. allow me to extend a personal invitation to call us for the Wakefield Doctrine Saturday Night Drive! 8:00 to 8:45 218.339.0442 access code: 512103#)
Clark,
Thank you so much for the invitation! However, I guess I have to politely refuse as I will probably be sound asleep then. What is the time shift between Germany and your place? ;-)
Joy
@Joy
(damn those time zones!)… lol right now it is 2:44 pm so I am suspecting 12 hours or so… oh well, although! Melanie is way over your side of the world (southern hemisphere, tho) and ClairePeek is in Sweden… if we get enough people on the Continent we may just have to do a Midnight Special!
That was somehow strangely hilarious. And as far as the obscure reference goes, I am ashamed to admit that although I have heard the song thousands of times, being a Beatles fan, and the glaringly obvious theme of Day in the Life, it took me at least 20 seconds to place the lyrics in my own head. Sigh. Perhaps a glass of wine would clear the cobwebs?
@Stephanie
..do I have the nerve to inquire as to the ‘strangely’ quality of the hilarity or the ‘hilarious’ tone of the strangeness.
(…hey you are the one(s) coming up with the prompts (for FTSF) you have only yourselfs to blame lol
Sigh…yes, it’s a very clark-like day…one where I am like, “really!? Oh no!” LOL
@Cyndi
I agree….but! there is the Doctrine, there the solidity of the really!? is just slightly enhanced lol
And now, I insist you work that song into a playlist…..but which one? you will have to wait to find out. Meanwhile, the title fits, but as to the lyrics? I always loved the bridge. After I quit smoking it was almost like I was still smoking.
@Jen
(you should have seen the first draft!, lol) one of the things that keeps me coming back to this medium is the way the path (to a Post) twists and turns… sometimes simply ending up insipid, other times, I get more than I realized…those are the Posts I love, the ‘what? I don’t remember writing that!”*
* one day later… lol
Fascinating how many bloggers seem to have a major clark aspect. Anyone’d think there was a link there…
@Considerer
…not as certain about blogging in general (being something to draw an inordinate number of clarks), but the Wakefield Doctrine…that I am certain. In fact, I go as far as to say that, in it’s current level of ‘presentation’* everyone who ‘gets’ the Doctrine is either a clark or (a) scott or roger with a strong secondary clarklike aspect. The primary reason is that the worldview of a clark has curiosity as a significant trait, along with what we used to call, ‘flexible intelligence’ the capacity and/or drive to try new ideas, imagine novel realities …that sort of thing
*meant to imply my writing ability as it affects the intelligibility of this thing of ours
Oh, wow! I love hearing how a day looks for each type. And if I’m honest – I do that “again? really? do I have to?” thing just about everyday.
@Amy
…lol yeah, it’s funny about that
although in that vein, blogging is innately about satisfying some kind of curiosity, whether it be ‘whom can I read?’ or ‘who reads me?’ so perhaps there is an inherent ‘clark-ness’ to it.
@Considerer
good point! but I suspect (for those of us with a predominant clarklike worldview) there is a significant scottian aspect (either secondary or tertiary) that goes from who can I read to who do i think I get to read (me)… interesting perspective
Which of them is always late? Because that’s me. Finishing my FTSF post on Saturday. Bah. Hungry horny bored tired cracked me up! I might be most like Roger.
@Kristi
…as always, depends on what ‘late’ means to you…or better yet, how you manifest late. rogers will be late because the schedule is the schedule and thats that, a scott is late…cause, well just because! and clarks, we tend to be punctual…except when we are late…and that late is usually an underestimation of how over-extended we are…lol
Hahaha, yip, that’s what I would be thinking if I had to repeat what I do during the day. Love hearing about what everyone’s days look like! Happy Monday ;)
@Melanie
totally get a kick out of FSTF for that very same reason.
