Month: January 2011 | the Wakefield Doctrine - Part 3 Month: January 2011 | the Wakefield Doctrine - Part 3

I’m not just a Wakefield Doctrine progenitor, I’m also a client

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

(Here there is knowledge that you have forgotten that you wished that your parents had told you about when you were just young).

Here at the Wakefield Doctrine you will find (a blog) that is fun and useful, interesting and puzzling.  And yes, what you are beginning to suspect is true, this is one of those blogs.  You know,  the kind of blog that promises so much and seems simple and reasonable enough at first, but then gets all convoluted and stuff.
Well, not the Wakefield Doctrine! No sirree, Roberto! Here we have fun first and then we peer into the frickin soul of our: friend/ spouse/ enemy/soul-mate/ wife/ bff/ husband/ abuser/ parish priest/ teacher/ children and anybody else we may happen to encounter in the course of the day today.

New Reader? Congratulations on reading your first Post in the Wakefield Doctrine! At the Wakefield Doctrine blog ( ‘the Doctrine’ to the cognoscenti),  we all work really hard at trying to offer a ‘personality theory’ that is not only true ( “…oh man, you have got my Uncle Phil down to a ‘T”! How do you guys do that? “) but offers an insight into human behavior that is practical and reasonable. The Doctrine offers a whole new take on personality theory,  easy to ‘get’  while at the same time,  being a simple way to change your damn life for the better.

Like most personality theories, the Wakefield Doctrine has evolved from  years of observation and reflection.  Inspired by an appreciation of the complementary nature of the personality of three people and refined over the course of a lifetime,  the Wakefield Doctrine offers the curious Reader tantalizing insights into the way people react to common life situations. So stay awhile, read some Posts, listen to some music, hell you might even want to go into the ‘reference pages’ of this blog and get all clarklike on this shit. We try to have fun with this here Doctrine here, so come on in an set a spell.

That last part ( in italics?) that was a remnant of what this Post started out to be, oh around 3:30 am. Something about using those instructions that you get with new products…  “So you have a new Blender! Here is some information that will help you get the most from your new product!”  Something like that, it was way, way more cleverer before I got out of bed. Anyway…

As it always says at the start of these Posts,  Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine. Despite our jocularity, we are all totally serious about our little theory of personality. While maybe technically not a ‘Personality Theory’ in the sense of,  say the kind of personality theory you expect when you pay a therapist $150. an hour to use on you or even the kind of personality theory that the following intro was written for:

…will analyse the dynamics of personality and critically evaluate theories of personality. This will be done in terms of their given strengths and weaknesses. The critique will examine the two main approaches of personality studies namely ‘nomothetic’ and ‘idiographic’. The writer will draw succinct conclusions on the basis of these theories and also demonstrate how the nature of learning is a contributing factor to the genetic construct of ones personality, and the traits they display. Yo.

(I added that ‘yo’ to the end… but the rest is an actual excerpt written by some roger ( no doubt with a scottian wife who is insisting that he needs to get himself made the head of the Department in the college he has been teaching at for the last 15 years. { Of course, she is also not telling him that she is sleeping with one of his grad students }). Thanks a bunch, haazel.

We do have one thing that none of those other empirically supported, statistically verifiable theories have, we have hats!  Yes, you have read that correctly. I did say that we have hats here at the Wakefield Doctrine.  All of the DownSprings have hats and many of the Friends of the Doctrine have their own damn hats. Hell, FOTD Mel, over at the Spatula not only has a WD hat, but he ran his first marathon1 wearing a Doctrine hat (on his damn head).

So  we are glad to have you visit. Stay a while. Read. Ask Questions. Write Comments. Request a (nearly free) hat (for your damn head).

1) Marathon (μάραθον) is the Greek word for fennel. It is believed that the town was originally named so because of an abundance of fennel plants in the area…(Wikipedia) …This is kinda funny if you read Mel’s blog. Which you should. After you finish the Doctrine, of course.

one, two, three, four. Can I have a little more?

Wakefield Doctrine Here. The theory is called: clarks, scotts and rogers. It will help you. It will set you free.

(better now, all of out the system now.  such a drive to Wakefield we had!)

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers).

Feliz Año Nuevo, las perras! Trust all are well out there, good annual festivities, but even New Years has(have?) to end and we have so much work to do!  Let’s get right to it!

This being Sunday (that) makes yesterday Saturday which, as we all know means a trip to Wakefield. For those of you just joining us, if you would take the time to answer a couple of quick ‘survey type’ question, you can really help us out here as we look for the best and most user-friendly way to present the Wakefield Doctrine. We need to tell all new Readers and Visitors this:
the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers) is:

  • a way to look at how people act and how their personality can tell you what they might do
  • there are three personality types: clarks, scotts and rogers
  • these ‘personality types’ are about how the person sees the world, not a list of what they do
  • how a person sees the world tells you everything about their behaving, past, present and future
  • we all are born with the potential to see the world as a clark or a scott or a roger
  • at an early age we settle into one of these (three)
  • we never lose the other two (ways of seeing the world) but we are mostly one type
  • when you start out with this thing of ours, most people say, “hey, I am one type sometimes, but then the other type other times
  • …perfectly normal, that just shows you that tho you might be a scott, you can imagine how the world looks to a clark or a roger
  • the description of the three types is gender and culture neutral…a clark is a clark no matter what country they are in… a scott in a dress…you get the idea
  • when you try the Doctrine out, you will see the rogers out there first, then the scotts then the clarks
  • we have (nearly free) hats for you damn heads…and maybe T shirts

Okies, that is the information we want the First Time Reader to have easily available when they come to this site for the first time. The question we have is:

So, if you don’t mind taking a quick second, really appreciate it.

Last night was Wakefield night. Very excellent drive. Nearly the whole gang be there! (hey Joanne! let us know next Sat night you have time to be on the phone, yo). What? oh, sorry. The thing is this, on Saturday Night glenn and me pile in the car and drive around Wakefield (the real, civic entity not the mental construct) discuss current events centered on the Doctrine; annywaay  the car has a bluetooth capability and the phone has conference calls capacity of 2 lines in and AKH is a short drive to Wakefield…see where this is going?

New Years Day (evening) glenn in backseat, AKH riding shotgun, Progenitor roger and DS#1 in the dashboard…high-fidelity, high-tech, ‘what-hath-god-wrot’ drive through Wakefield. Damn. You should been there.
Topics covered: screenplay ideas (can’t give away the ideas, ya gonna have to buy a ticket like everyone else), formats for presenting the Doctrine including video tape and (from the Progenitor a very excellent suggestion i.e. cable TV community access program(!) (and for the record…your next question?  Wayne was a roger, Garth a clark…but you had that already, non?), web cams, and finally car seats! Very productive session and we stopped at only one green light and ran (only) one red light. Not bad! Hey, learn your Doctrine and participate and we damn-well gonna invite y’all on the drive.

Is all for now….oh yeah, New Readers?  we do this video thing in these here Posts here…no rhyme or reason  just ’cause.
