“…Room 714, I’ll be waiting” the Wakefield Doctrine it’s Twisted Tuesday …Kehl-style

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

Copy of spring01

Today being Tuesday, I offer the following Twisted MixTape as requested by Jen Kehl  and Kristi, Kristi, Kristi ( yes, Kristi you have run the proper audio in your head for this…as has Jen and, I’m sure, all of the other members of this ‘musical Gillgan’s Island’ of a bloghop.)

Howdie all! This is your good friend and friendly music director Jen Kehl. Bringing you this weeks fabulous series; music that moves. Yes you heard it. This week our favorite listener calling from over there at As Long As I’m Singing has a special request. Troy has asked to hear the 5 seminal songs who made you the person you are today. The shutter-openers, the wakers, the “I can see clearly now the rain is goners.” The tunes that forced you to look in the mirror and say, “Hey good-looking, you seem familiar, yet new.”

OK Troy, we’ll put that out there and see what our great listeners and mix-makers have to say about that. Folks come on and join on in. The fun has just begun. And although I thought this one would be tough, it turned out that when I got started it wasn’t as hard as I expected. I mean the fact is, that if you love music, you are going to have those songs. Those songs that scream this is me, this is that moment, this is what I need right now.

Thanks a lot, Troy   (lol… dude, I had a tough time with TMT #24….   and you have to get Jen to make us do this??  ayieee)

…you know this happens, you’re an intelligent guy, you’ve heard the stories from friends and no matter what, you know the rewards are totally worth the risk, …right?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
…you must cope with the imminent death of a loved one, you both know what is happening and yet, somehow, the soon to be deceased is behaving with more equanimity and balance than you can even hope to manage, and yet you must…you owe it to them to not just endure this, but to project the serenity and peace that they deserve to feel coming from you
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

the friends and family are there, it’s a reception and your spouse is the normal, real person and you are allowed to pick a song to mark the culturally recognized climax of this ceremony…. the symbolic joining of two people (and there is a sea of happy, normal looking people expecting celebratory music, something that they know from other wedding receptions and you decide…’yeah, but I like this song’  the looks of surprise and (with only a slight lag) delight is worth it all

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
…you give into tradition… you owe it to her and the family and so when the DJ says, ‘what would you have us play for cutting the cake? we have a wide selection of Joe Cocker, Frank Sinatra and even some Beatles…. everyone is ready, what’s is going to be?”   you smile….
clarkscottroger About clarkscottroger
Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one
Comments
  1. Great choices and thanks for the journey. Nothing like a little Super Freak first thing in the morning.
      Kath
      the classics never get old
      (this is a true story, btw… the reaction of the assembled family (which it will help to know was comprised of mostly rogers and a few scotts) and such was totally worth the effort to go with the ‘song less listened to…lol)
  2. Great choices, Clark! Trust you to have a different angle!
      Michelle
      thank you, as Manfred Mann said, “But mama, that’s where the fun is”
      lol oh yeah! start thinking about the manifestation of secondary rogerian aspects (in a predominant clark), I have some thoughts on that, but I would like your input (as a predominant roger)
  3. troy P. says:
    Dude, what are you talking about? You so nailed this one as well! The structure used and the songs chosen were pretty freakin’ brilliant, my friend.
      (phew)… damn! (what the hell is this writing thing*, the one you think you understand falls on the ground and the one you think, ‘well, wait til they get a load of this’** is on the mark?!)
      *yes, the description of writing applied to myself leaves me feeling like when I was a kid, stealing my parents car (to learn to drive) eyes everywhere worried but having the time of my life
      ** the Joker in an otherwise forgettable Batman movie***
      *** Jack Nicholson’s take on the character that was totally no where in the same ballpark with Heath Ledger’s
  4. I agree with Troy. You nailed it. I should have just skipped this week because I didn’t come close to nailing it. Or even really not screwing up the rules. Sigh.
    Loved the words “your spouse is the real, normal person.” So Clark, Clark, Clark!
  5. Dream says:
    Awesome post, choices and loved the surprise ending!
  6. Dear Clark
    Now what happened here? Somehow the whatever-it-is has happened again, and you got the wedding story and I got the cake picture.
    Care to offer a very WD explanation?
    Thank you so much
    Lizzi x
  7. Jen says:
    OK I love Kehl-Style… I feel honored you would even say it.
    Then I felt sad…. and then I laughed. I hate feeling sad, so thank you for making me laugh. I so appreciate using Super Freak in a wedding, what more apt place is there, right?
    And let me just say… you may have complemented me, but without having to give too much away you got it just right.
    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:
      Jen
      Thank you… lol (you should see the inside of my head as I negotiate the privacy versus joining my friends, wait a minute! you’re a clark! you know exactly what that looks like lol
      • Jen says:
        All too well my friend. I have everyone fooled, I still keep at least 50% of it well-guarded.
        • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:
          Jen
          (it is that certain…wistfulness, yearning-for-something, in your ‘all too well‘ that makes me feel good about this here Doctrine here… there is a type of sharing that I am experiencing out here in the blogosphere, among other clarks that I have not found anywhere else..) glad I know you
  8. Love the cake cutting song… If it’s done right, the couple looks like super freaks afterward, too ;-)
  9. clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:
    (tap…tap…tap… “is this thing on? tap…tap…tap)
    lol damn!
  10. Linda Roy says:
    Oooh Humble Pie – excellent! And I do like me some Hall & Oates.
