and he sang dirges in the park

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)!

An exciting time around here at the Doctrine!
Hats are under (damned) heads in at least Five (5) States and there is a renewed sense of forward momentum.
School is about to re-open, both in reality and at Mill Fill High, where we have new exchange students due in September. Coming here from their own high school in the Autonomous Region of Madrid, (“the fighting bull fighters“) we are looking forward to the addition of their own brand of “espíritu escolar“, we are sure they will be a welcome addition to the literay device that we call Mill Fill. And as Regular Readers are not surprised to see, we are reaching out to (these Readers), “hey Readers from the Autonomous Region of Madrid! Send us something from your school/college/un local nocturno and we will send you a hat (for your damn heads), yo.”

Otherwise, expect to see (more) and (continued) soul-searching and general angst being generated by the simple challenge: How do we do this Wakefield Doctrine thing in such a way that we have more and more Readers every day? Sorry, I suppose I should pretend that this blog is being written for the sole purpose of expressing and sharing a unique and useful viewpoint. Maybe we should pretend that this is about simply offering the world a quirky little perspective on the human condition, a way of thinking about ourselves and the people in our lives. That this “theory” of clarks, scotts and rogers is just a little game enjoyed by a small circle of friends for their own private amusement and that it has proven to be so “true” and that others seem to like it when it is explained to them that we just want to share with others the fun of the Wakefield Doctrine. We could do that….

Nah…this is all about pushing the view of human nature that is espoused by the Wakefield Doctrine so that someday (soon) one of the original group (of Progenitors/DownSprings/Friends-of-the-Doctrine) will hear someone/somewhere use an expression like, “man he is such a fuckin roger“…”she is such a clark“…or even, “hey, not too scottian, is she?”

That is the reason for these here Posts here. Not only that, but there is now a time limit…(84 days left) to this effort (thanks alot, clark)

In the meantime, you can expect to see these Posts and their photos and images (courtesy of google and a whole bunch of un-witting contributors) as well as music videos, of course.

Apparently borrowing from the seemingly endless supply of videos from youtube and metacafe and them is not quite enough anymore; going forward you can expect to see videos that have have been edited for the purposes of presenting the Wakefield Doctrine. I have a sample here below this sentence. This is my first effort, will get better with practice, but it may be one of the most efficacious methods of demonstrating the behavior of the three types.  But it is very time consimptive (to use the rogerian expression).
(Here, look at this:

…What did I tell you? Could this be cool or what?

Anyway, that is the current situation here at the Wakefield Doctrine. Expect more dis-jointed, total-left-field Posts for the next two or three weeks, at least until school starts.

Oh yeah, almost forgot! Friend of the Doctrine, Jason (does the Project: Enlightenment blog), wrote  to say that he is still working on getting us a  photo of his hat (possibly with his damn head underneath) and will be sending that in…also…will be doing a “remote” from Dallas Texas (Hollywood) and Mel is running his marathon in September (which we have talked about doing a ‘live feed’)…Hey Ronin, yo! the photo of your hat does not need to include your (damn) head…just put the thing in front of a landmark and click away…all we want is a recognizable setting.

OK on to the music part of the program.

First up is a fairly common song, never been a huge fan of it, but it got stuck in my head yesterday. I find that posting the video of a mindworm song is a way of getting it out of my head.
The second is the result of a process that is so characteristic of  clarks  that it will serve as today’s Lesson of the Day.  It has to do with the process of tracking down a ‘known’ thing, in this case, finding a particular music video on youtube.  While in the process of searching, I see a reference that leads to a new path of inquiry and BAM!, somebody I have never heard of, this Cindy person and how excellent is she? This is why clarks are the creative ones of the three and why the scotts and the rogers totally need clarks, otherwise they would spend their lives re-hashing and tre-hashing the same old tired licks.

and now listen Cindy

Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one

This is Cindy Cashdollar- she has been around forever, and is a regular on the Prairie Home Companion- check your local NPR listings, but usually on Saturdays at 6 pm.

  2. Glenn Miller says:

That is Cindy Cashdollar. Former electric table player for Asleep at the Wheel. The BEST! I went to a concert several years ago in Boston to see John Prine. Opening act was Leon Redbone. Accompanied by Cindy. What a fucking treat! A total surprise too. I didn’t know there would BE an opening act. Cindy won a Grammy with AATW for one of their albums. She was featured on one of those makeover shows, so she could attend the awards show in “style”. She is the “gold standard” for steel guitar players.

Thank you! You have both totally proven my point!
    Keep up the good work!

  4. clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

now…Readers…of the Comments above, which is the scott and which is the roger…?

hat for the correct answer…(no, AKH, DS1 you cannot submit an answer).

Excellent job on the “teaching” video Senior clark. Fine (beginner) example of a clark, scott and roger interacting. Nothing dramatic, simple yet so validates all that is contained within the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers.

You should provide us all with such a video at least once weekly. If a “picture is worth a thousand words” then surely moving pictures with audio and explanatory words from the Progenitor clark is worth what?……a gajillion words of proof that the Wakefield Doctrine is what it claims to be.

  6. AKH says:

I agree with DS1…keep ’em coming! I think that (new) readers will delve into the annals of the Doctrine to figure it out (as I did when I was first introduced) and hence begin to “get it.”

  7. clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

I agree with all of you, except for glenn and roger…I will say if you come across anything that you think is worthy of our attention, let me know…will make it our next “Doctrine at the Movies” feature.
Ideally, you will see a you tube that you want to suggest, but if you see anything on the television, chances are we can find it on the youtube…so get those cards and letters in…
