Six Sentence Story -the Wakefield Doctrine- [a Café Six] Part 2

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

This is the Doctrine’s contribution to the Six Sentence Story bloghop.

Hosted by Denise, constrained by a sentence limit (high and low) of six, there are worse ways to spend the remaining time you have on earth.

Prompt word:

MINUTE

A man dressed in casual-business attire leaned against the trunk of the Mercedes; a woman sat in the front passenger seat, her cardinal-red hair banishing the tint on the windows.

After a minute, the window slid down, the woman looked towards the young couple on the sidewalk and, with a friendly enough smile, said, “Rosetta, fancy meeting you here; Rocco, if you’d get the door for her, we can be on our way.”

Rosetta tensed, as timeless partners Mlle Flight and M. Fight engaged in their life-or-death minuet; the Sophomore stepped past Rocco and, opening the back door, looked at her, his eyebrows semaphoring the question of consent.

For her part, Rosetta smiled at the ground, lightly touched Rocco’s forearm as she passed him and got into the backseat of the car, immediately sliding over to make room for the Sophomore.

Turning in her seat, Rue DeNite offered a smile tinged with the most minute overtone of embarrassment, “Ro, what can I tell you? Your uncle does not tolerate being worried about those he cares about… Who’s your cute friend?”

clarkscottroger About clarkscottroger
Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one

  1. …like I’m watching from the stoop of the tenement house across the street.

Rue and Rocco! Damn, Kevin Bacon, lol.

  2. Frank Hubeny says:

I am glad to see Rue DeNite and Rocco back in the story. If I remember correctly, it’s a good thing Rue is not driving.

It looks like the Sophomore is now part of the family.

  3. Chris Hall says:

Hmm, ‘cardinal-red hair’ – I like the idea about that kind of colour.

  4. At least it should be a comfortable ride, in so far as as the vehicle type is concerned.

  5. Violet Lentz says:

I can tell the fun has not yet started here!

talk about a crowd.. but, now that you raise the topic, I’m beginning to think that the Bottom of the Sea might not be the best place to have a family (Family) intervention

lets see… in the city (of course) but not likely to be interrupted by anyone who can’t keep their own counsel… a Bistro of some sort…or, even a Cafe!!

  6. phyllis says:

Nice imagine, the Sophomore protecting the young girl.
    Thank you

  7. Misky says:

I am very pleased that the Sophomore wasn’t left standing on the pavement.

yeah… he’s a bit of an enigmatic character and a challenge for writing what with his being from the year 1972 and such… flashbacks I find tough, especially given the sentence constraints and my recent ambition to find engagement in sparse wordage

      (what’s a word-hurler to do?)
