Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)
This is the Doctrine’s weakly contribution to the Ten Things of Thankful (TToT). Now in Stereo!! (Well, kinda, there is this post and another over on Blogger which is posted also on the TToT Facebook group Page!)
For us at the Doctrine, the following people. places and things qualify for inclusion in our citations for sources of feeling a sense of gratitude this week.
1) Phyllis
2) Una
3) the Wakefield Doctrine
4) the Six Sentence Story bloghop. Six Pick of the week: …[a Café Six] (the) the Wakefield Doctrine
5) the Unicorn Challenge Read this one! ‘Afternoon Tea‘ by jenne
6) modern technology. in this case cameras in phones, i.e. Front meadow in October
7) have we mentioned the Wakefield Doctrine? No, not merely in the context of a long-running blog, the stewardship of which we’ve been privileged to provide service, in this citation, as a Grat Item, we note that, as a tool to self-improve oneself, it is without peer. (Slow to take effect? Sure. Worth the effort. Gotta go with a ‘damn straight’)
8) something, something
9) Having a profession (real estate brokerage) that includes free Membership to an impromptu health club (and totally stationary StairMaster) lol A property I have in Norwich CT:
10) Secret Rule 1.3

Always enjoy your TTOTs.
#3. I think I’m growing comfortable being scottian. My difficulty is in figuring out which of three, or two or all three, people are if I don’t know them well. How do I anticipate a person’s response to the world if I don’t know them particularly well. I mean as a “predator” this knowledge would be handy.
#9. Gorgeous. I’d put a rocking chair on that porch, and not move until it snowed.
First video: “There is occasion and cause why and wherefore in all things.” Henry V is a favourite of mine.
the fun of the Doctrine is reading about the characteristic behavior and/or response to situations of all three predominant worldviews aka personality types.
the key to the Doctrine is understanding/getting comfortable with the relationship (each of the three) maintain as they relate to the world around them.
the challenge (which returns benefits to the practitioner beyond the scope of this Reply) lies in imagining how it feels/what it looks like from the perspective of an Outsider/Predator/Herd Member
take a scott*
no. lets use an old scenario (if I can find it I’ll link it)… a clark, a scott and roger are standing on a city sidewalk opposite a popular restaurant. it’s lunchtime, there’s a line out the door
each of the three perceive the scene, i.e. the restaurant differently. The differences, on the simplest level, manifest as perceived values. A roger sees a line of people waiting to get into a crowded restaurant, clearly they are people-people…. social people. A scott see the same thing, but rather than the slow comfort of recognition of kindred spirits (as does the roger) the scott see …game. prey, a wide savvanah with a watering hole lined with entrees**
… the Outsider? It’s a never-ending war within… friends are of the highest value, crowds and risk of scrutiny the most abhorrent of conditions
so, find some old Doctrine posts (say pre-2014) let go of any desire for a discipled and orderly instruction and have fun!
The coolest thing? We started it as a joke but became a real thing: Warning. Once you are able to see the clarks, scotts and rogers in your life, you may be unable to not see the clarks, scotts and rogers.
Have fun with it. Over the years we’ve been delighted not only by Readers extrapolating the principles of the Doctrine to identify others in their life, but actually contributing new insights into how each type relates themselfs to the world around them
*please! ba rum bump
** this is an example of the fun of the anecdotal approach to the three personality types. with sufficient grounding in the metaphor (behavioral and otherwise) of the Doctrine, all you would need to say is: Lunch ala carte or table d’hôte it’s all good! lol
Nice list, beautiful house, and yes the hike up there would make me not want ti leave for a long time.
lol (I thinkin’ the future owners gonna be on the young side of the buyer demographic) not that I’m characterizing any group or groups of buyers! lol
#4 – always good, and dogs.
perfect life from they are, no?
“Stationary Stairmaster” lol. So curious about the inside of the house, though. Love the outside!
is good looking house. (I have not counted the steps, but given that the house has a full, walk-up attic… theys gots to be a bunch of ’em)
