Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)
Anyone have a problem with us having another go at the Unicorn Challenge?
Jenne and ceayr have offered all an opportunity to see what happens when a photo is the prompt and the word limit is two hundred and fifty.
(Well, we didn’t get into the virtual world by insisting on a down-to-earth, real-is-the-only-reality, did we?)
Photation:
>I should have listened to the old ones<
Police are at a loss to explain the sculpture that appeared on the sidewalk in front of the Moldavian Museum of Art in the early hours of Easter Sunday.
>The young people, I insisted, in this time and this place are different<
On loan from the National Archaeological Museum, it was the rarest piece in a set of wood carvings from the pre-Arcadian era.
<Fear for the world heighten their sensitivity. They had little trouble hearing me, even in the old words from ancient legends<
Compounding the mystery is the fact that no alarms were tripped, windows broken or doors forced. The lead investigator stated, ‘It was like it walked out of the museum and sat on the sidewalk and forgot how it move’.
>The world itself has changed. There is no place for me, no matter how cherished I believe I am<
Museum officials had no comment other than to say, ‘To whoever did this, we are grateful there was no damage. As part of the collection, this piece, ‘The Hamadryad’ is irreplaceable.
>I can no longer touch the source of all life. The earth itself has hardened her heart<

What a beautifully crafted two-story – and yet one story – piece, Clark.
And a clever illustration of your point that ‘real-is-NOT-the-only-reality.’
A timely reminder of the state of our world today: >I can no longer touch the source of all life. The earth itself has hardened her heart<
probably not destined to be written on a Hallmark Greetings card, lol but the story takes us where it needs to go, not the other way around.
My post / take on the theme is similar to yours, Clark, yet in the same breath totally different! The world indeed has changed, although I must still hope that the Earth’s heart is still very much open. She isn’t giving up on us yet! 🙂
I prefer your vision to mine…but the wisdom of my own admonition against reading any other post (in a bloghop) before completing my own… you fricken guys are too damn good
lol
Exquisite piece, Clark. Forgive me – the photo – I am transfixed by the reflection caught in the window.
(as are all Hamadryads. Irreplaceable)
nice photation…you should give it (the photo prompt) a try fun in a different way from the Six
Most beautiful and sad and well crafted as always.
thank you, M
Well, Clark, there is a depth to this piece that raises it to new heights.
Elegant and subtle, a great piece of writing.
Bravo, mon vieux!
merci, vieille chaussure*
