Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)
This is the Wakefield Doctrine’s contribution to Lizzi’s Ten Things of Thankful (TToT) bloghop, now entering it’s twenty-third year in the ‘sphere. Once a week, we stop and reflect on the people, places and things that’ve startled us into a state, (however transitory it might be), of gratitude.
1) Una (enjoying a Friday walk in July)
2) Phyllis (taking a photo of Una enjoying a Friday walk in July)
3) the Wakefield Doctrine
4) serial stories ‘the Whitechapel Interlude‘, ‘the Case of the Missing Fig Leaf‘ and ‘Tales from the Six Sentence Café & Bistro‘
5) the Six Sentence Story bloghop
6) work Here’s a video of a property we’re overseeing the renovation of; the pace of work is fairly slow, remind us to update this when we have something interesting to show.
7) This year’s Triffid garden. Caption (in Homer Simpson voice-over: “mmmm sunflowersss”)
8) something, something
9) Hey! Quick show of hands. Wakefield Doctrine tee shirts? Anyone? (from our 2014 collection:)
10) Secret Rule 1.3 “…’cause surely the most enjoyable Rules are the Secret Rules.”

The walks that start and end with a car ride are the most fun, as any dog will tell you.
Don’t tell anyone, but the rides are the walks…
Una is less interested in hikes around the neighborhood but is still very much into the dog thing of interesting scents and smells and such
So, we walk to the car and she rides shotgun and I drive at between 5 and 9 mph (sometimes she’s into a brisk workout, ya know)… and she has her head out the passenger window the whole time. Sorta like a big, old fashioned radio with a dial… something different as we turn corners and drive past the woods and around the golf course.
Then we return home and she walks back into the house.
So, what you say is very true.
The Friday walks are perfect family time.
Thank you.
Maybe it’s a roger thing, but I think the doctrine needs a “shop” – you know, where you can buy more hats for your damn(ed) head and t-shirts for your damn body and mugs for your damn coffee. A rare Clark sighting in the reno video. Interesting seeing that in progress. Is it a northeastern thing where immediately upon entry into the house you have to decide whether to go up or down? And the bathroom…did you see all the stuff flying? Orbs perhaps? Is it haunted? lol.
Agree! (Am getting simple Doc-Tees to start); if there is a demand, might move up to the personalized ones (predominant worldview on the front ‘Wakefield Doctrine’
The design (entrance with half flight up and half flight down from a landing) is commonly referred to as a raised ranch. This is not quite a raised ranch in that the lower level is not a walkout. Ah yes! the bathroom. The owner has the General Contractor they always use (and I like working with) but they (the GC) are one state away and get who they can for certain parts of the work, in this case demo. Not the neatest work I’ve seen. lol No, did not watch as they worked their mgic.
There have been some houses that are, in fact, conducive to such suggestive mood inspiration. Kinda fun.
Gotta love Una’s Friday walks
