Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)
This is the Ten Things of Thankful (TToT) bloghop. Founded in 2003 and kept in a jar by the door*, it has been the most admired and imitated grat blog since 2013 or so
1) Una
2) Phyllis
3) the Wakefield Doctrine
4) serial stories ‘the Case of the Missing Fig Leaf‘, ‘the Whitechapel Interlude‘ and ‘Tales from the Six Sentence Café & Bistro‘
5) the Six Sentence Story
6) Seeing how so a company-man we tend to be, when I say our host, Dyanne posted the first post (err… she posted), back in 1993, we’re all, “We gots to join in. Hey gang! Lets put on a play!’
the tao of gratitude -the Wakefield Doctrine- (a blog hop that will not only be fun… but useful too!)June 7, 2013
Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)
…and welcome to the Inaugural Edition of the ‘Ten Things of Thankful’ blog hop.
The idea-child (to organize a blog hop with ‘Ten Things of Thankful’ as the central theme), of ‘the Considerer’. Her idea of a Saturday blog hop offers to demonstrate an aspect of the internet that is truly remarkable. To have a community created by the thoughts and ideas (shared by) people from all over the planet… coming into existence for a day…spreading outwards through the blogosphere, passed along, modified enhanced then to fading from view…only to return again, different yet the same. How cool is that?
and…and!! there are 9 co-hosts! (the afore-mentioned Considerer), and
- A Fly on our (Chicken Coop) Wall
- A Woman’s Place
- Bringing the Sunshine
- Finding Ninee
- Icansaymama
- Shoved to Them
- Steps into Parenthood
- the Wakefield Doctrine
Each week…
That’s about it for me, for this Post. While familiar of with use and value of compiling a gratitude list, creating a list is an interestingly arduous task! Not that I am ungrateful, ( non-grateful?? anti-grateful?? hypo-grateful??? lol), for the things in my life, I have not engaged in a formal exercise before this…I will, without a doubt, be sharing my thoughts and impressions as the weeks progress.
And I am also a big advocate of bloghops… especially for those of us who spend a lot of time writing a blog. The hop (like this one right here) is an opportunity to ‘get out… meet new people, read blogs that you might not otherwise come into contact with… so add your blog to the place below that says sign up here… it’ll be fun.List of 10 things about/within/comprising my life today 06/08/2013 that I feel grateful for:
- coming to know interesting people such as Considerer, simply because there is no way I would have met her, were it not for her blog
- having the time available to write this post
- seeing examples of Posts as written by the other co-hosts
- having a family (wife and dog*)
- having known the perfect dog…Ola
- living in a climate that is only bi-annually of intolerable climate (lol)
- the 3 or 4 years spent on fishing boats
- the friends that I have
- the enemies that I do not have (at least not in large numbers)
- the invitation from Considerer to co-host this here bloghop here
Now the hard part! There’s supposed to appear some code for a button and an invitation to join us… all I need to do is get it right…. hold on….

7) oh, yeah… we’ve got three more grats to do! Well, you know we didn’t get this far by freezing up under the metaphorical spotlight, did we? Clearly the obvious grat is to the countless hostinae that took up the Brísingamen after our Founderini left to search for the fifth corner of the world.
8) hey! That reference to Brísingamen makes us think, (with gratitude), of the more subtle effects of writing stories, both large and small; specifically the tendency to absorb ideas without necessarily being aware of its origin. In this case, while searching out symbols of female power for this grat, we stumbled across a reference to a story from Norse mythology, where Loki stole a necklace and Heimdall was charged with returning it to Freya. But just before completing the search circle, we remembered a Six Sentence Story that was part of a small cycle of stories about Parchman Farms. While not 100 percent certain that we didn’t start with wikipedia, it’s way fun to think that the story has been sitting in our memory since seventh grade when I first started reading mythology. ha! Time travel does exist!
Hey! Puzzle resolved!! (Who said, “What are you talking about ‘puzzle’?!! We’re still working on who these people, clark, scott and roger were, if they were even real and how we can get our Free 2 Night/1 Day Vacation to Palm Coast, Florida!” Anyway, if you want to read our version of the story, Click Here.
9) something, something
10) Secret Rule 1.3 because if it wasn’t a secret, how much power could it possess? Full Disclosure: I must be on borrow jag. This last, (’cause we’re at number Ten? lol), was from a snippet of the movie I watched last night. The original: ‘If it was easy, everyone would do it.’

Most excellent post today… all.
Seems we be gettin’ in that phone booth (for all kinds of travel.)
Parchman Farms. I enjoyed those Sixes.
1993 huh? Swore it was 1989, lol
…put it in the soul of everyone…
It is always nice to be able to look back and see the beginning of things.
We have enjoyed many of the Playing for Change pieces performed by people from all over the world. Thanks for sharing this one.
I just stumbled across this one (my favorite aspect of the internet… like the world’s largest used book (or record) store
Thanks for posting your first TToT! Ahh, the good ol’ days! I have completely sucked as a host, especially lately, and I need to get it together. And Carlos Santana collapsed on stage recently?! He must rally and get better!
agreed. One of the most immediately recognizable guitar tones… (‘I can name that song in 2 seconds, Pat!’)
