Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)
Here’s a topic that surely has potential for insight into reality and, coincidently, an appreciation of the Wakefield Doctrine.
First thing this morning, I experienced one of those moments of searching for something that was lost only to me.
This morning I found myself looking for my glasses.
Not upset, or, for that matter, overly concerned. It was more a state of curiosity. Don’t lose them very often, in fact, could not remember the last time such a search was necessary.
Followed the standard protocol: ‘Where did I see them last?’ (This should have been a hint, metaphysically-speaking).
First things first: started with replaying the previous night, (our adventure took place around 6:15 this morning). With all the lights on, Phyllis and I went from room to room. Fortunately, we live in a relatively small house.
Una, a silent oasis of simple rationality, followed us from bedroom to kitchen, living room to bathroom. Sorta like Benson in the excellent sitcom from the 70’s, ‘Soap’.
The mood was positive with a hint of ‘hmmm‘.
Like a live action Möbius strip, the three of us circulated through the rooms of our home. Yet, in a most human way, we were an imperfect endless loop and, at about 6:24am, we, all three, came together in the dining room. Not sure which of us spoke first. Fairly certain it wasn’t Una.
I was wearing them the whole time.
Being a clark and an adherent to the principle of personal reality, a concept central to the Wakefield Doctrine, I immediately thought, ‘There is a glimpse into the nature of reality in this situation. I best write a post.’
And so we have.
Few doubt the fact that we live in a reality that is, to a small, but very real degree, personal. Today’s adventure reminds us that personal realities can expand beyond the individual. For better or for worse. Yet, the power of embracing this concept is to remind us to take advantage of the gift of perspective, to see the world as the other person is experiencing it.
I will now return to our regularly-scheduled Tuesday.
From back in the day. One of the first ‘videos’ on TV* Verified 1967 cultural artifact

Excellent, lol. Excellent :)
Hmmm. It happens. Here, it happens all day, every day, to the glasses, the keys, the wallet, the hairbrush, the bandana (mask). Never are they on his person.
I think the discomfort is greater for a Roger because the perspective that everything has a rightful place is called into question.
