Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)
This is our weekly contribution to the Ten Things of Thankful (TToT) bloghop. Lizzi created it, over sixty years now, by most reckoning and Kristi is our current host. There are co-hosts (mostly hostinae, and yours truly).
Big changes coming (previous references notwithstanding)
This week, my Grat list includes:
1) Una
2) Phyllis
3) the Wakefield Doctrine
4) writing, including the ongoing serial stories, ‘the Case of the Missing Fig Leaf‘ (an Ian Devereaux mystery) and ‘the Whitechapel Interlude‘ (from the Books of the Order of Lilith)
5) Six Sentence Story ’cause ‘Practice makes better…’
6) Kristi who has joined the illustrious ranks of the ‘sine qua non(s)’ of this unique exercise in self-improving oneself and signal manifestation of the potential for good that we all have been bequeathed. We do thank Kristi, not only for ‘keeping the lights on’ at this bloghop, but for creating a nurturing and positive atmosphere that is surely something that anyone (new to blogging or….err old to blogging) recognizes and values.
Thanks, Kristi
7) Dyanne (Hostae Presumptae. Electum**)
We didn’t start blogging yesterday, so a very long welcome Grat would not be our best interest, ya know? Gotta save it for the next few years.
Totally appreciate Dyanne’s stepping up and assuming the essential role of host for this amazing ‘hop.
8) THIS SPACE AVAILABLE To them what think they’d participate in the weekly ‘hop but have one little reservation… To this we say one thing: a) send in a single Grat and we’ll post it here, see how it looks; 2) have you even read the rest of this post?!! lol
9) Work Social media project still progressing… it’s basically an ‘Advice and Insights for Buyers and Sellers of Real Estate’ for twenty minutes live on some platform (Facebook or Zoom or whatever)…. we do not, I repeat, do not have a name for this thing. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
10) Secret Rule 1.3 From the Book of Secret Rules (aka the Secret Book of Rules) which states, in part: “…so, as much as you think you can’t come up with Ten (10?!?) Things of Thankful, you start typing and, before your know it*, you’ve completed number Eight! You’re sure glad you ever got this far. ‘ding…ding…ding…ding!!’ (lol) Yes, you have just been awarded a free Grat!! Put that lil darling right there at Number Ten. (No, running, or pushing or shoving…you still have one more to complete and then you’re done.”
* now there’s another of the way-numerous hints at magic and the Path, that litter our everyday discourse and causal-to-a-fault vocalizations. (imo) This phrase is not merely an acknowledgment of the on-again, off-again role of time in reality. It suggests that, although Time appears to insist on being invited to every party, it’s still possible to give it the slip.
** not ‘real’ Latin but …but!!! I took two years of Latin in high school with Miss Champlin***
*** my god, the conversations of residents in a nursing home.. it must sound like every library, used book store, high school yearbook and secret journal suddenly given the power of speech. Why on earth would my mind feel the need to preserve the memory of the name of my high school Latin teacher when, as I leave the house for work this morning, I’ll run a better than even chance of forgetting something and have to come back.

It’s funny how memory works, and how one thing can bring a tangential thought. (The first photo of a clark, scott, and roger made me think of a guide dog puppy that was raised by a friend. Her name (the puppy’s) was Giada.) Love that photo of Drexel; it really captures his personality. And the photo of the other dog is a great one to portray the changing of the guard. :-) Dyanne is perfect for the job!
we (Phyllis and I) were laughing about the photo at the top of the post. A big part of the magic of the Wakefield Doctrine and a part that I, rather uncharacteristically, have no desire to make sense of, is how much the world reflects aspects of the Doctrine. I would hazard that it would only the briefest of exposure to our little personality theory to be able to correctly identify the predominant worldview of our three celebrities.
there is that sense of natural wisdom, acceptance of the world as it is in Drexel’s eyes*
* or as I would project, being as much a fan of the species as I am
I’m SO glad I stopped in to the Doctrine before heading out into the werld today.
Thank you, Kristi!
And thank you, Dyanne!
Thanks, sis!
Thanks for the shoutout. I will do my best not to screw it up!
no problem*
*young person for ‘you’re welcome’
That top photo so fits the Wakefield Doctrine, at least as far as I understand it. :-)
Thanks for the calming influence of Drexel or maybe I should say the hypnotizing stare of a dog who thinks he is part human.
*** HaHa, yep that would be me too.
notice the eyes of the scott, clearly not not paying attention (easily the most identifiable characteristic/feature of scotts)
Kristi has been fabulous, Dyanne will be fabulous, how glad i am not to be losing this gratitude network.
I concur
“Real Estate Need to Knows” Have a great week!
