Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)
They say that Tuesday is the most clarklike day of the Week. I won’t argue with that. However, if there is a topic or theme for a clarklike day, surely the most appropriate would be everyone’s favorite personality theory, the Wakefield Doctrine!
While the Wakefield Doctrine is a most useful, concise, efficacious and entertaining aid to understanding the world around us and the people in it, it are the clarks who derive the greatest benefit. This is not because scotts and rogers cannot employ the additional perspective that it provides, they can; it’s because for clarks the Wakefield Doctrine (or similar construct) serves the very core need to understand. And …and! it’s not a need to understand, as in learning, (“So, you’re saying, in any right triangle, the area of the square whose side is the hypotenuse (the side opposite the right angle) is equal to the sum of the areas of the squares whose sides are the two legs (the two sides that meet at a right angle. I understand!”). It’s the need to understand as in ‘everyone around me appears to know something about life and/or the world that I do not. I must find out what it is. They are all clearly ‘a part of’. I don’t feel any different…most of the time. If it’s not their mood, it must be information. I must have missed the class on Belonging and Relating.
Damn.
(Best, to be on the safe side, not to advertise the fact that I didn’t learn the ‘We’re all together in life, even with our individual differences’ lesson.)
A clark is born.
;p
One reason for this post is to practice writing. And, in particular, to practice writing in whats referred to as Deep POV. Gotta learn that thing so I can edit Almira into a state that will interest a literary agent.
That being said, everyone can benefit or, at very least, be amused, by the insights provided by our little personality theory.
So, Tuesdays are clarklike?
Well, duh! It’s not Monday, all full of demands and work to do in the coming work, how the hell can they expect me to do that, no one around here seems to care if this gets done except me (err…. is there a roger in the house!) And, it’s certainly not Wednesday. We call it Hump Day. Everyone calls it Hump Day. Because thats what people call Wednesday. (no, I believe the roger is already on the case). Thursday is interesting. One might argue for there being a certain Outsider simpatico in Thursday. It’s not Friday (and, god knows, Friday is for scotts) and it’s not Saturday or Sunday.
Tuesday is just the Fred Rogers of the Workweek. Can you identify with that? ….I knew you could.
Music:
Serendipitous timing your post and my reading it, this day for clarks, lol. I concur. Tuesday is a much more viable day in this clark’s work week :)
I for sure get Fridays and scotts! Having said that, I love Fridays for a way different reason. It’s the day I totally go all out, racing against an imaginary clock as if I were in a contest with my own self to see how much I can get accomplished. Typically high energy day where my scottian secondary rules :D
There is that matter of secondary aspect. It colors a lot of the future background, adds a certain aggressive (aka unrealistic) edge to hope and anticipation.
No wonder i’ve always enjoyed Tuesdays.
They are the ‘safe for all ages’ days, are they not?
