Six Sentence Story -the Wakefield Doctrine- “…Anya Clarieaux toys with Rosetta, as the Sophomore drifts through Time.”

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

This is the Doctrine’s contribution to the Six Sentence Story bloghop.

Hosted by Denise, constrained by a sentence limit (high and low) of Six, there are worse ways to spend the remaining time you have on earth.

Prompt word:

ORDER

“Follow my orders, missy and things will work out better than you might…” Anya’s voice softened, a sociopath’s heartfelt effort to conclude a bedtime story with the traditional coda, “…happily ever after.”

“I’m on the way to the promised land; I’m on the highway to hell…”

AC/DC’s Bon Scott managed a feat very few people have, which is to push Anya Clarieaux off-stage as the Audi’s 23 speakers, using every one of the 1,920 watts in the car’s amplifier, brought the unfortunately-themed song to live performance levels.

What followed, as the sedan barreled down the highway, was every 1960s preadolescent boy’s idea of a wicked-funny joke while waiting for the adult to get to the car, which was to turn on every accessory available: including wipers, turn signals and, best of all, the radio, all functions requiring a running engine.

To her credit, in the midst of the chaos and cacophony of dueling accessories and entertainment systems, Rosetta leaned back in her seat and lit a cigarette, occasionally glancing at her silent companion.

On the display, ‘Collision Imminent Air Bags Armed’ flashed; Rosetta took her foot off the gas and let the car coast to a stop in the breakdown lane as Anya’s voice smiled, “I am not disappointed; the Omni Corporation, which I happen to control, could use a young woman like you.”

Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one

  1. Anya opening and closing. What appropriately skin crawling “bookends” to your story, lol.
Rosetta is in a heap ‘o trouble now and yet, I wonder – if anyone can extricate themselves from Anya’s grip, it just might be her.
Vivid scene. And, I can hear that song even without hitting play on the vid!
    Excellent Six.

  2. Anya seems to have a plan for Rosetta. I wonder if we can even grasp at the moment what that really may be… I too can hear the song playing and see the car moving in vivid detail as I read. That was a good six!

  3. Violet Lentz says:

Now there is a childhood prank I had all but forgotten about! And I love Anya’s choice in cruising music.

  4. Misky says:

It’s the ultimate trope: the condemned person casually lighting up, taking that slow drag, and staring down ‘Anya’, “You can end me, but you can’t rattle me.”

    Very good Six.

  5. Chris Hall says:

Gosh, this is going well… an excellent episode. Now another blast from AC/DC!

  6. Frank Hubeny says:

It sounds like Rosetta has got a job offer. I wonder if she will accept. Of course, she could just work for Lou (or for both of them). I wonder how the Sophomore is going to fit into all of this.

  7. “Use” can mean many things, she’d best continue to watch her back (but she isn’t related to Lou for nothing).

  8. Liz H-H says:

Not too far off from a typical job interview! 😉

  9. I like the way this episode ended on one hell of a high!
