Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)
This is the Doctrine’s contribution to the Six Sentence Story bloghop.
Hosted by Denise, constrained by a sentence limit (high and low) of six, there are worse ways to spend the remaining time you have on earth.
Prompt word:
STAKE
I parked in the lot just past the Six Sentence Café & Bistro, smiling at the landscaping which included: a Sub Zero minus it’s door, two shopping carts and, on the sidewalk, a bus stop bench the back of which displayed an advertisement for an old John Carpenter movie, ‘They Live’.
“Look, Leanne, while the people I’m going to meet do not, for the most part, have advanced degrees from Ivory Tower colleges and universities… what? Yeah, that’s what Lou calls them, you met him once I believe… yeah, that Lou. Just gimme something to put this whole Order of Lilith legend/myth into a reasonable…ok, an understandable context… wait repeat that, ‘the implicit countervailing drive-to-order of the patriarchal structure is clearly evidenced in and by the constant resistance of a small but measurable component of all human cultures‘, yeah, I can sell that.
Sure thanks… oh, before you hang up, I need to say that there’s a lot at stake in my reporting to this group… besides Lou and his niece? A boyfriend-in-waiting and the Proprietors… no, that explanation will have to wait until after dinner… a sharp and peculiar bunch if I do say; lemme hang up now and get into character, as a wise hitman once said.”

I always enjoy when Lilith makes the list of characters, thank you
Pretty soon everyone will know everyone, right?
hopefully
I absolutely admire the way you have managed one side of a conversation so smoothly; it’s done in such a way that one’s own voice fills in the unspoken dialogue. All in six sentences. Perfect.
That was understandable, I think!
Who’s calling us a ‘peculiar bunch’, hmm?
Oh, are we?
lol
ikr?
Nice description from Leanne: ‘the implicit countervailing drive-to-order of the patriarchal structure is clearly evidenced in and by the constant resistance of a small but measurable component of all human cultures‘
It wonderfully makes no sense and should be easy to sell.
the correlation between something making sense and the ease with which a skilled salesperson can get people to buy it?
