Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)
This is the Wakefield Doctrine’s contribution to the Six Sentence Story bloghop.
Hosted by Denise, there is one rule: Six (no more, no less) Sentenceses to the story
Prompt word:
CLOUD
“Come with me,” the tall, thin man turned away from the newest employee of the Six Sentence Café & Bistro and, without another word, began walking towards the entrance; frozen in place, Rosetta, quite uncharacteristically, decided not to let her life be nothing more than a temporary ceasefire between good and evil and spike-heel skipped into a quick walk.
Losing sight of the Proprietor, Rosetta became angry and, like a cartoon character with an animated-black cloud (complete with yellow-jagged lightning bolts) over her head, pulled open the oak-and-hammered-brass-nail door and walked up the three granite steps to the sidewalk.
“Good girl,” the tall, thin man cigarette smoke-signaling his compliment, stood in the middle of the empty street.
“Tell me what you see,” the man did something with his body language that, somehow, resulted in her joining him in road.
“A wino, two hookers and capitalism’s insatiable appetite for the soul of the working class?”
The tall, thin man laughed; Rosetta Storme blushed at the sidewalk and let a smile appear.

Nice description of Rosetta’s life: “a temporary ceasefire between good and evil”
Or perhaps what it is not considering all the negatives prefacing the description.
I’m glad to see a smile on Rosetta’s face. It occurred to me that I always assumed she was more or less smiling, but I realize now that was not likely the case.
interesting observation, that last.
now that you mention it… (this seems to be one of those posts, that all of us who care to admit it enjoy, i.e. learning something new about ‘our’ characters)
Rosetta seems too trusting. I’m a little afraid for her right now.
(good-natured, laugh)… not to worry about our Miss Storme (ask our host, Denise, about the youngest employee of the SSC&B)
hey! glad you read this Six (and, I trust the 2nd part)… if, on the 3rd of April you choose to write-yourself/the character of your choice into the festivities you now have a sense of where our virtual writer’s hangout is. (Note: the location (“…in a medium-sized city…” is for the primary SSC&B but, by definition, they can be found anywhere on the planet…”Wherever there are two or more Authors who enjoy their Craft and want to sit somewhere and discuss all things fictional, there is a Six Sentence Café & Bistro)
to be cont’d
She’s quite observant, at least about some things.
ikr?
Nice images, thank you.
Don’t tell me you’re whipping up a wild romance! Rosetta and the Thin Man a study in evil contrast.
… ok, we won’t.
;p
The tall, thin man and Ms Storme were grinning together. Nice.
yeah… maybe not Elia Dolittle… but, this is internet flash-fiction, so who really knows?
In a word: praeclarissimum!

I’m laughing at the perfect “soundtrack”, played afterward, and for which I have no need to re-read your story.
Totally enjoying this facet of the tall, thin man. Notwithstanding his promise to Lou, we now have opportunity to see our Ms. Storme in a way different light. But! Can a tiger change their stripes, lol
Fun Six!
ty. we shall see
