Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)
Lets get right to it…( some interesting stuff to read under the vid)
clarks think, scotts act, rogers feel
clarks are Outsiders, scotts are Predators, rogers are Herd Members
clarks are still reading, scotts stopped (while laughing at the previous entry), rogers are beginning to get resentful
clarks are at home in their heads, scotts are at home on the range, rogers dream of rolling, grassy hills
if you are a clark… you could finish writing this Post and you will smile in admiration and pride* when reading Cyndi’s Post (this Friday)
if you are a scott… you hope that someone will remind you to stop in Friday and you will read and decide that you like this Cyndi person
if you are a roger…you knew we would be writing something like this and you will know that, with this guest writer, you will be able to have your ideas appreciated.
Friday…8 am be there or being perceived as being comprised entirely of 90 degree angles and surfaces…yo
* pride in your people, you feel good that you have evidence (and even proof) that clarks can take the dreams in their heads and stand up next to them in public, like unruly puppies walking in the park…
Cannot wait for Cyndi’s post on Friday and you know I will be here!! :)
@Janine
me too!
(cause you realize we are clearly moving the bar on these Posts… hey! maybe an Video Interview! Those are fun! if the idea sounds… not horrible, let me know and I’ll send you the links to some of the Video Interviews that we did last year…to get an idea of (how much fun they are)
We have a roger commenting? Oooh, that I gotta see. :D That’s for the mention. I *do* hope it’s a satisfactory post.
I also hope you’re having a great Wednesday!
@Cyndi
Actually we have had a roger comment, but I think I will save the discussion of the styles of clarks, scotts and rogers in Commentation for Saturday Night..
damn, forgot the link on your mention… (might as well get our electrons worth from the Post, no?)
English as 1st language…..huh.
rogerian expressions. Will rogers be the first to identify a rogerian expression? (I am withholding my answer just to hear yours)
Question #2! How is it scotts “hear” those rogerian expressions. (yes, trick question. lol)
How does a clarklike made up word differ from a rogerian expression?
@Denise
a) no
b) like a dash of paprika
c) because we will be attaching information to it where the roger is attaching emotion to theirs
From the Progenitor II, a small bit of space junk now flying over your sector; not so much a satellite, per se, more of a Pastene crushed tomato can soldered to some Campbell’s Mushroom Soup cans, all duct-taped together for extra solidity, and powered by dual Radio Shack DC motors. A few bent coathangers, lots of aluminum foil, and of course, 6 ft. of wire for FM reception. We don’t get much altitude, so it takes about six years to complete a full Earth revolution.
Just a word about the rogerian expressions.
They’re not necessarily the linguistic gems they’re portrayed as. They usually occur when there are two marginally connected thoughts trying to get through the brain-to-mouth portal at the same time. They have a sort of Rain-Man kind of feel to them.
My boss is out today, can you tell?
@RCoyne
…when the feline has decided to call in.. the rodents…
lol
But, for the sake of the Readers, who these days are rather advanced (and sophisticated) in their understanding of this Doctrine thing, can you share your thoughts on what, to me is the most marked aspect (to these expressions) i.e. when you hear it you will not be able to not notice. The thing that drew my attention (to these things) originally is that the reaction is sudden laughter. And this is not quiet, chuckles or whimsical appreciation of a witty expression, it is projectile laughter! It is enjoyable, but it is as much an innate self-defensive mechanism in response to something….
care to comment?
I won’t even do a Vlog for my own blog, because I hate the way I sound and look on video, lol!! And wouldn’t even know where to begin, but too kind of you Clark!! :)
@Janine!!
you’ll love it, trust me.*
Actually what I was thinking was the ‘Call in’ variety of interview… here is a good example of what I am referring to:
basically we open the call in line that we use on Saturday Nights and we talk.
If you get that ‘lets get crazy on the internet’ feeling sometime, let me know and I will make the necessary arrangements.
*now if those 2 words don’t strike suspiscion in the heart of any think person….lol
Well, sure…rodentially speaking…
To put a positive spin on the Rainman thing, I would describe it as such;
Someone has said something intriguing to you, and you instantly think of at least two possible responses. There isn’t time to deliver the two responses simultaneously, so ( with some luck ) you find a way to combine them. Sometimes it works nicely, and you are perceived as witty. Sometimes not, and you are quickly compared to… D. Hoffman.
