TToT -the Wakefield Doctrine- “…and now, with llamas!”

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

the Wakefield Doctrine…on the Road in…Arizona!

the Wakefield Doctrine…on the Road in…Arizona! (2000-something ago)

Now I remember where I saw the reference to llamas!  Kristi’s Mom’s TToT post of last week! She had a Grat Item that had to do with the impressive and highly developed level of behavior exhibited by these animals. Well, never let it be said that the Wakefield Doctrine is not capable of being inspired to reach for a higher level of appreciation of the wonders of Nature!

1) llamas

2) there was something else this week that was pretty impressive… oh yeah, the number of people out for walks with their dogs today. Today I decided to get home early and take Una for ‘a Walk’. And we got as far as the first turn when we met our first person out walking their dog, except they were, like, on foot and everything. Unfortunately, that meant I had to roll up Una’s window, ’cause she’s not a fan of other people walking their dogs. I did not get it on tape.

3) vidchats now, it may seem odd that I should single out vidchats as a Grat Item on a Friday evening when I was not able to actually host a vidchat… but, only if this were your first visit to the TToT and had not yet encountered the….diversity of outlooks on the world and such. It is a good time and I suspect that I will make sure I am able to do this thing next Friday (01/15/16) because I will make a point next week to not fall dreadfully behind on my writing for Blogdominion…

4) …surely this (the Serial Story ‘Blogdominion‘ hosted on Jukepop) belongs up here in the top 5 for Grat Items. That I undertook the challenge of starting a serial story on a site that is devoted to hosting serials (or all types and genres), which means it’s pretty damn public, is amazing. I’m grateful that I did. I must admit to not always feeling the new-flannel comfort of knowing that every Chapter I write gets me closer to actually completing the story. That I would find myself at Chapter 13, which seems by all measures to be about the halfway point in this story, that’s just insane. But here I am. Unfortunately, some weeks I fall behind and find myself with only a first rough draft on Friday. This is not ideal, as I always (up to the present) publish the week’s Chapter on Sunday, by early evening. Most weeks I have a 3rd rough draft by now. But, somewhere in that, I’m sure is a Grat Item.

5) I normally cite Lizzi and the co-hostinae for their incredible efforts to create and nurture the community that is this bloghop. But this week, I’ll say, “hey! new participants! welcome to the TToT” That this is still happening (3 or 6 or however many years we’ve been on the air) is pretty darn cool.

6) For all the new TToT writers, I will extend a welcome and a simple: the Secret Book of Rules (aka the Book of Secret Rules) is and can be your best friend! And like some best friends, it can turn on you in the blink of an eye and take all that you hold dear and make it as if…. No, disregard that. The BoSR/SBoR is reliable, trustworthy and scary. Lets let it go at that… and if you have any questions, ask anyone. No matter what they tell you, it’s true. (Well, because there’s a Secret Rule covering that, of course!)

7) Una for being the perfect life form and role model for me (at least in terms of how to live life in the here and now and such, less on matters requiring opposable thumbs, negotiating contracts and coloring inside the lines.

8) Phyllis for much the same reasons as Una, (except she does have opposable thumbs, colors inside the lines really well, being a roger and all, and for introducing the use of Kindle’s into the household

9) the Graviteers  (at the Gravity Challenge)

10) zoe and the Six Sentence Story…. the most aggravating fun I have all week!

clarkscottroger About clarkscottroger
Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one

Love this list that gets down to the best and the basics of life and these are some of the clearest parts of life, worth being thankful for. You rock.
    :-)

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

thanks kerry! I would do a ‘high 5’, but, I’m a clark…. so I’ll just compress my lips together and look out of the corner of my eye!

  2. lrconsiderer says:

The most aggravating fun all week? And why is your code showing last week’s linkie? EEEK!

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

aww go on widcha!! wots this nunsense going on about me link?? (Readers? it’ll help if you go your own voiceover … I like the cockney, but whatever you own preference then the comment will be way funny)

      …what’dya mean?!? ‘still nothin?!’

  3. “new-flannel comfort” :)

Lovely TToT this week Clark. And I mean that in the best possible way! lol

Kindles. They are a wonder. Have I ever mentioned I now have a Kindle? :D

  4. Cynthia says:

As always, love your list of things :) Una – so, she doesn’t like other dogs getting walked? Ha! Neither does Vinny. When he’s being walked, EVERYONE ELSE better clear the way. Or else. Haha.
Hope you’ve had a good week. If I get a chance, will call in tonight…though…I may have a friend treating us to dinner…

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

no, she doesn’t like to have animals running around loose. (She likes to sneak up on rogers too! basically our walks have her side window open but when we see a roger (basically, corporate logos and water bottles, fanny packs… a couple of head mirrors and a helmet that will reduce the air friction at speeds in excess of 87 mph, not that that happens)…. any way as we approach from behind, Una stays totally silent until… we’re right behind them then she barks!
      lol

cool, the lines will be open!

  5. valj2750 says:

Do you know how your Blogdominion serial is going to end? I’m a bit stuck and this week I decided to skip the middle, roughly outline the end, so that I can visualize the middle in order to get me from where I am to completion. No vid chat, or gravity challenge for me after Thursday. Tim’s surgery is scheduled for Friday. Big unknown. Oh, and thanks for always including the new particpants with such nice welcoming words.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

not yet, getting some ideas (about the ending). Sorry I missed the vchat last night, do want to discuss book progress and ideas an all. I suspect that I’m doing something similar to you, I’m trying to get the story to focus, which in turns, implies what might happen, or better to say, what my likely available options of an ending are

      ya know?

  6. When Blogdominion comes out, Clark, let me know. I will want a read! A happy new year to you, Phyllis and Una!

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

Thank you Michelle! same to you and them…. the link will take you to the prologue of the story (and I add a Chapter each week)

  7. christine says:

Kindles are the bomb-diggity. Way more convenient than lugging all those books around. I do still like the look and feel and smell of a new book, but I prefer to read from a kindle. Or a kindle app, since my kindle finally bit the dust.
Every year at the preschool, they have llama day. A local llama farmer brings three out to the preschool parking lot and gives a little presentation. Gotta say, not my favorite animal.
It makes me smile that you have to roll up the window when on a walk and come across another dog on an actual walk.

  8. Sarah says:

I’m recommitting to all sorts of things at midnight. Next week is gonna be better! See ya then!

  9. May says:

Oh, you silver tongued devil! Loving Phyllis for all the same reasons as Una PLUS her opposable thumbs! You must make her heart race when you begin to wax poetic! Too too funny!

    • phyllis says:

Actually, I love that Clark always puts the dog (Ola, Bella, or Una) first. This has always seemed very appropriate. And yes, there is no better compliment than to be compared to Una. I feel the same way, but can not express myself as well as Clark.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      lol

  10. ivywalker says:

This is an exceptionally good list this week. I missed vid chat just couldnt do it this week… next time. You sure those werent alpacas in the vid? They have that big head and not just cuz they were shaved…

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

One other person, (at the office), pointed out that it was an alpaca farm, complete with a small store, but I replied that, in fact, and proven by irrefutable video (and audio!) evidence, that them critters totally looked up when I yelled, “Hey! Llamas!” and it’s a fact that Fernando was nowhere near to account for possible confusion.

      I rest my case

      lol

    • Kristi says:

I thought the same thing, Ivy, but I should also mention that my mom absolutely LOVES alpacas, so she should be fine with alpacas subbing in for llamas. :-)

      • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

now that I look at the photos on your mother’s blog, it looks like llamas have a more angular face/head… but, I repeat, ‘they looked up when I addressed them as llamas’

        lol

  11. A says:

Congratulations on your Serial Story! My writing discipline is atrocious, can’t seem to post anything on a regular schedule. Well, except the TToT for three weeks in a row now. Anyway, great post!

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

Thanks, A nothing like a little self-created pressure i.e. ‘It’s Sunday and they all expect another Chapter…(

  12. What May said about Una and Phyllis is exactly what went through my head.
This is a really beautiful list – truly. Congratulations on the great progress with your serial – that is awesome and one of these days I promise I’m going to get caught up further than I am.
I’ve managed to skip two TToTs…how does that even happen? Guess I needed that break more than I knew.
Off to read the new folks’ posts!
    Vidchat Friday for sure.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

time in the ‘sphere passes at different and variable rates… it is only now being noticed, eventually it will be better understood!
thanks on the list, looking forward to Friday!

  13. Kristi says:

May’s comment made me chuckle, too, and Phyllis’ gracious reply was just lovely. :-)

  14. Llamas? Is your mama a llama? HOWTUFTOSPELL LLAMA?!?!? Two L’s right? Anyway, late, of course as always and yo to perfect life forms and role models and opposable thumbs.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

my compliments on your film-making… I could almost imagine having fun doing that tubing thing!

  15. dyannedillon says:

The only thing that would have made the llama video better is if one of them had spit on you. It also reminds me of when I tried to get the attention of the stupid buffalo at the golf course last summer and couldn’t even get them to look at me, much less come over to the fence and get the pie I offered them.
    One of my favorite poems:
    The one-L lama, he’s a priest
    The two-L llama, he’s a beast
And I would bet a silk pajama
    There isn’t any three-l lllama.
