Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

I’m playing a little semi-hooky, here in my office at 2:23 pm on Wednesday. Since I didn’t go home for lunch today, I felt that I could take a little break-lette to start this here Post here. It’s my practice to draft something/anything on Wednesday and then, first thing Thursday morning, I write the SSS. The truth is, for me, at any rate, that it’s easier to edit than create. Even if that means that nothing remains of the first draft when I hit ‘Publish’, it’s still easier, better, less stressful and more enjoyable to have a draft Post to work on, instead of staring at a blank screen.

All this is because our friend zoe/Ivy does this bloghop, called Six Sentence Stories. The Rules of participation are simple: write a Story using Six (exactly six) Sentences. This week the prompt word is  ‘close’

“This is not what I had in mind for an exciting night out without the kids.”

“Bet you’ve never seen Las Vegas from this perspective!”

“You say the effect is temporary, that they’ll both be alright when they wake up?”

“Absolutely, you know,  you’re a natural, the crowd loved you, now lets get back to the dressing room.”

“You know, I think they did!”

“I know they did, hey, wait! don’t forget your close!”

*our friends at Wikipedia say so, that’s who!

clarkscottroger About clarkscottroger
Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one

  2. ivywalker says:

Hahahahaha! Snork… Love this one! I gotta try your method … You know easier to edit… Maybe i wont feel so stuck every week.

  3. Kristi says:

I guess this is one of those incidents that could have inspired the “What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas” motto. Not exactly the parents of the year!

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

now why would you say that… perhaps they were at a roof top swimming pool, or maybe one of those water extravaganzae in front of a hotel!! (lol)

      • Kristi says:

Regardless of what they were doing, what did they do to their children?!

        • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

got a babysitter (if they were in Las Vegas, maybe an Elvis baby sitter?…nah, that’d be too weird)

          how about another Six:

          “Hey, gradma’s asleep, it’s only 8:00 pm!”
“Now, I’m the oldest and even if you’re a boy, I’m in charge, so don’t get any funny ideas!”
“Well, lets do something really different, I’m not tired and Mom and Dad will be home tomorrow, what do’ya say?”
“…uh, I know, just like when we were young, we’ll flip a coin and the winner reads aloud whatever book the loser picks (ahead of time).”
ONCE there were four children whose names were Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy”(began the book).
(later that evening, grandma heard one of the two children in her charge, say with a tired voice, “Wow that was a close one, I thought you would’ve picked a baby book.”)

We certainly get a whole different perspective on writing and observations when visiting your site.

  6. Coming to see where your mind takes you is a true adventure each week, and I totally enjoy it! I’m not sure if I’m more curious about what they’ve done with the kids or what it is that mom and dad were up to! Great story, Clark! :-).

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

thank you Josie we have Kristi to thank for the concern with the kids and all… now I can’t say that I’ve read the entire Chronicles of Narnia, but I totally enjoyed his ‘Out of the Silent Planet’ trilogy when I was a kid…

  7. valj2750 says:

  8. valj2750 says:

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:
