TToVidee the Wakefield Doctrine (“show them, don’t tell them”)

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

(like this, except instead of a Viking it was a small frog and instead of a book with a lot cool stuff, it was the front grill of a Mini)

(like this, except instead of a Viking it was a small frog and instead of a boat with a lot cool stuff, it was the front grill of a Mini)

Saturday morning. Lets set the timer!

(7:59)

(…!?! 8:29)

1) Phyllis is grateful that I am here because,  (and the reason for the gap in this morning’s timeline), there was a frog in her grill…. good thing I’m from Y Chromia!  god! I’d really be grateful if we could have a laugh track for our days… (you’ll know what I mean in the next grat item),  anyway, I had to go outside and remove the frogae corpus delectus from the grill of her Mini… where apparently the deceased frog’s family decided to send the body onwards   sort of an amphibian Valhalla ceremony

3) That reminds me of a classic bit from the Beverly Hillbillies (an admittedly acquired taste, no, really, I thought the show was stupid when I was  12 years old… any way, here’s a youtube clip)

6) Cyndi…cyndi! Buenos y’all

4) from FOTD Katia (I apparently have a subscription to her youtube channel, which is cool, but this sample jumped out at me):

2) I am glad I got a chance to have a vidchat last night with zoe and Denise… much discussion over a wide range of topics

5) the Book of Secret Rules (aka the Secret Book of Rules)… we all agreed, (in last night’s vidchat), that one of the things that makes this bloghop so exceptional is that we have a BoSRs/SBoRs  Sure, there are other gratitude blogs and blog hops, but none of them provide a resource to, (and a responsibility on), it’s participants the way that the TToT does, what with Secret Rules and all…

7) speaking of exceptional and vidchats…. last night we got to talk about, you know who and we sort of stumbled on a bit of a mystery/controversy  (mystroversy)…. are they the same or have they changed through the ages… sure, we know there are only Seven of the them (because Cyndi told us so)… but  it now appears to be common knowledge that at one time there were 3 female Guard Virgins (aka real Virgins) and 4 male Guard Virgins (aka  yeah, right)… but there was trouble with that ratio and now we have 4 and 3 (new-ratio-of-female-Guard-Virgins-to-male-Guard-virgins motto: “hey! don’t be like that! you’re not the only GV in the world ya know“)  so we have 2 questions:  are they same throughout the ages or do the individual manifestations change over time

8) how many am I up to now? I’ll be glad when I get this list done!

9) I am totally grateful that yesterday is over. However I have to add a hypo-grateful item here:  the work does not stop with the Friday… still  better than being on a fishing boat spending all my waking hours picking up dead fish

10)  Big thanks to Cyndi and Katia for lending their presence to this here list here… tell me they’re not clarks with significant secondary scottian aspects! I dare ya I double dare ya

clarkscottroger About clarkscottroger
Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one

  1. zoebyrdzoe says:

    UM THE SAME! THE VIRGINS ARE THE SAME VIRGINS AND ALWAYS WILL BE THE SAME VIRGINS ( even the MALES who BTW are NOT POSERS OR UNICHS! how do you spell that?)

    Oh, and FRIST!
    Just sayin’.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      eunuchs (‘eu’ as in ‘ewww’)
      lol

      now, I don’t believe I said they posers… it’s just that there maybe be a slightly optionally-different standards for ….er virgosity

      • zoebyrd says:

        I agree with Lizzi below about the dancing which seems to have fallen by the wayside… but virginosity has no double standard for the y-chromed three legged beasts… and Im sorry Lizzi, Beth is hot but our virgins have some staying power.

  2. lrconsiderer says:

    Eunuchs.

    Aaaaaand I don;t think they were always the same. Some of them fell off the wagon. Some fell off when Beth danced naked. And I’m not saying which of how many, neither… ;)

    I think you needed to dance for some of these, Clark :p

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      …and who is suggesting that I did not? ;}

      • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

        so one vote for they are always the same personage
        2 votes for the material and physical presence changes with the times, it is ‘the office’ that I refer to when I agree they SGV are constant…

        • zoebyrd says:

          While Denise still needs to sign in here she made her vote clear last night… 2 to 2.

          • Denise; says:

            Yes, yes I did and I have not changed my mind! They are eternal, they are immortal. What we did not talk about last night was what is really meant by “virgin”. Last night we were confined to thinking in strict sexual terms. It does not have to be so with the Seven Guard Virgins. In fact, the “Virgin” reference is not referring to sexual chastity (although it may with a couple of them).
            What do you think?

            • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

              well, …oh yeah? that’s not wikipedia says

              “…According to Plutarch, there were only two Vestal Virgins when Numa began the College of the Vestals. This number later increased to four, and then to six.[14] It has been suggested by some authorities that a seventh was added later,..”

              and….and

              “The dignities accorded to the Vestals were significant.
              • in an era when religion was rich in pageantry, the presence of the College of Vestal Virgins was required in numerous public ceremonies and wherever they went, they were transported in a carpentum, a covered two- wheeled carriage, preceded by a lictor, and had the right-of-way;
              • at public games and performances they had a reserved place of honor;
              • unlike most Roman women, they were not subject to the patria potestas and so were free to own property, make a will, and vote;
              • they gave evidence without the customary oath, their word being trusted without question;
              • they were, on account of their incorruptible character, entrusted with important wills and state documents, like public treaties;
              • their person was sacrosanct: death was the penalty for injuring their person and they had escorts to protect them from assault;
              • they could free condemned prisoners and slaves by touching them – if a person who was sentenced to death saw a Vestal on his way to the execution, he was automatically pardoned.
              they participated in throwing the ritual straw figures called Argei into the Tiber on May 15”

              • zoebyrd says:

                now if all that don’t scream “we cant give that to everybody…” ie just a small perpetual group… then I dont know what does…

                • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

                  exactly what I mean! not everyone can be a GV only people with exceptional, i.e special qualities and character, which I would maintain in the last….say 115 years will be:
                  a) intuition with an over-riding appreciation of the humorous side of reality
                  b) aggression without self-consciousness
                  c) constancy without dogmatism
                  d) hot (even without being a female), does not place sexual experience as the highest good

            • zoebyrd says:

              truly insightful Denise! I must write this tome… just want to wait out the virgin survey!

  3. I’m glad the details of the guard virgins and the SBoR/BoSR are finally discussed by worthy and competent members. But what would be if here would be if the ration was, for example, 2 (f) : 5 (m), and what if one or several of the male guard virgins had lied on their application? And what worldview is most likely for those virgins? Questions over questions. I wished I could go to sleep already.. Enjoy your weekend, Clark!

  4. christine says:

    Pretty sure this (still better than being on a fishing boat spending all my waking hours picking up dead fish) can be said about many, many things.

  5. Kristi says:

    A frog in the grill? First it was the hawk swooping down and stealing things, now it’s a frog trying to become a hood ornament. What a wild place you live!

    • dyannedillon says:

      Do you fully buy that hawk swooping down story, Kristi?

      • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

        swear to god! I have photos! (well, they’re photos of the envelop in the woods) but the envelop was dropped into the woods by that swooping hawk!
        lol

  6. fangboner1 says:

    Your first picture had me laughing. My daughter explains things like that an awful lot.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      lol yeah… it just seemed that, with a little explanation and qualification, the image could serve

  7. froginparis says:

    My favorite is removing the frog from mini’s grill! Frog family Valhalla- OH the visuals dancing around in my mind.

    I love watching the mythology of the virgins weave each week. Funny though I think of them while writing. Just when I want to cheat or fall short in my count I hear a “tisk tisk”. The vision of a Grecian wrapped beauty threateningly tapping a ruler in the palm of her hand makes me shutter.

    Magically the writer’s block lifts and the list is finished.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      so… we have a discussion now in progress, does the fact of Seven Guard Virgins (possessed of all necessary power and authority commensurate to their stage and the responsibilities inherent), require us to believe that GV we experience today is the comprised of the same individuals that made up the SGVs in the 1800s (“Dear Mr Blake. A ‘worde to wyse’ Read your work, boy are you in trouble! Frickin SGV trouble”). I am of the opinion that the nature of the SGV manifests as individuals who reflect the times… or something
      as luck would have it, we are currently in a deadlock on opinion.

  8. dyannedillon says:

    That frog must have been a real jumper to get high enough to get sucked into the grill of Phyllis’s car, even if it is a mini.
    Remember, the Beverly Hillbillies were based on real people here in the Ozarks….

  9. Jen @ Driftwood Gardens says:

    Yes, this is the only blog hop I participate in EVERY week, and it must be the BoSR/SBoR and the Seven that keep me coming back for more. I am glad to hear the ratio was changed up to be more female.

  10. Lisa @ The Meaning of Me says:

    I’m so glad you were able to help Phyllis when that froggie got all up in her grill (bahahahaaa)!
    I missed that hawk story somehow…now I have to backtrack and find it. And I’m so very sorry that I have not been privy to this thing known as the vidchat because that sounds like some seriously entertaining conversation!

    • dyannedillon says:

      We need to do the vidchat together, Lisa!

      • Lisa @ The Meaning of Me says:

        Well, I don’t know…I don’t think I would have much to offer. Plus, I understand one needs a Google + account and I don’t have that (or FB, or Twitter, or anything else). So…yeah. Sounds like a whole lot of fun from the overflow in comments, though!

  11. Hey, Clark, when are those vidchats now? I”m a little out of the loop!

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      hi Michelle
      trying to get back into the routine… …we’ve been starting earlier (on the few ‘this season’)…so look for an invitation (I still send out the same names in the same order that I did on the first one! lol) anyway, it tends to be 7:30 or so in Friday nights… a little, but maybe not fatally early for you, right? we tend to not last as long (that seems to be a developing theme as I get older) but now that it’s getting dark and cold earlier and earlier (another frickin theme) I think it will be more of a regular event

  12. Sandy Ramsey says:

    Boy oh boy! You sure opened up the floor with this one, didn’t you?? I can’t keep track of the Seven and have thankfully only had to dance once (or was it twice?) for them. Come to think of it, that may explain any changing of the Guard….

    Oh, and for the record, I totally believed your hawk story.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      yeah… the idea of the Seven Guard Virgins seems to appeal to, resonate with or hit a little hot button for many of us here… why do you suppose that is? But, the funny is, for me, in a very diverse group of people giving detail to an idea that starts in common with all and eventually reflects the dominant opinion… hmmm dominant (yes, the visual is forming…. no! not that obvious avatar … I’m heading to Mayberry and Helen Crump in front of a classroom for one of my GVs)
