Eleven the Wakefield Doctrine (Thursday! relax! it’s Thursday…what can be threatening about that?)

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

261698

(everyone knows Bill here is a clark, right?)

hey! Lisa!! you’re doing fine!  the aching that you feel,  is not from being unable to understand this here Doctrine!  (well, ok, maybe just a little), it’s from your liking the idea of what we seem to be saying, but it’s all still too….disorderly.  Like when you bring the laundry up from the dryer and throw it on the bed? You know that in that pile are pairs of socks, underwear, maybe the jeans and the tee-shirts, but what keeps you from leaving everything in a pile is, (in part), knowing how good it is when socks are together, underwear and tee-shirts folded and the towels…. towels!!  (no, clark! give her a break, for the love of humanity! not the secret of towels! anything but that, she’s almost there! do not ruin it! ) Never mind! I didn’t say a thing about towels!  it’s fine.
Our friend Kristi has contributed a great artifact*, something that might be helpful to you at this stage of learning the Doctrine.  She wrote a most excellent Guest Post a while ago and the artifact she uncovered was, ‘the security of expectation’. I might apply her insight by saying,  ”Hey Lisa! Look around your world today. This is a self-graded Test. There are people (in your world) that you love dearly but wish they wouldn’t make you so aggravated at times. They have so much potential and you know they are capable of much more, if they would only listen. And there are other people that you know, but don’t have to worry how they will act, because they are ‘on the same page’.  So, today, pick out one clark and one roger and one scott from your world and get back to us tomorrow.”

Hey!  new Reader!!  this Wakefield Doctrine is a way to understand the behavior of the people in your life and amuse yourself in the process. If you learn the characteristics of the three worldviews: the clarks (who are referred to as Outsiders) and the predatory, pie-throwing, run-back-into-the-burning-building, whoopee-cushion-owning (scotts) and the rogers (who let us fly from coast to coast without incident  (at least in terms of the engines hardly ever falling off) and a few simple principles, you will never have to hear yourself saying, “Why in the world would they go and do a thing like that? I really thought I knew them better!”

The Wakefield Doctrine maintains that we are all born with the potential to live in one of (these) three worldviews. At an early age, we settle into one and and develop our coping strategies and interpersonal skills and preferences ….appropriate to the character of that particular world.  …we become clarks or scotts or rogers.
Often new Readers  will write and say, ‘I’m pretty sure I’m a clark, but sometimes it’s clear that I’m a scott! what the hell?’  The cause of this confusion is what we refer to as secondary and tertiary aspects. Not critical at this stage of your learning. Remember: ‘you can’t get it wrong and you can’t break it.’ So have fun with this thing and if you have any questions, write us a Comment.  (oh yeah!  Chris?…. try the scottian section of this here blog here. )

* artifact: when someone uses a word or phrase that clearly designates an aspect of their worldview, but it is so strong (a symbol) that people from the ‘other two worldviews’ totally get what they mean.

clarkscottroger About clarkscottroger
Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one

I think the only threatening thing is the reminder that I need to do some laundry. :-)

      Kristi

      lol

…we have not yet brought you to the secret, inner Doctrine (the secret of Towels)….

but what the heck, you have given us a genuine artifact, so let me lay it on you: ‘rogers believe in single sets of towels. (lol, yeah I know!) all things being equal, and even if you (or any roger) has a set of towels for each day of the week, they/you/a roger will tend to use the same set over and over…. (the closet full of otherwise perfectly useful towels will serve simply as placeholders while ‘the working set’ are being laundered. once done (and dug out of that enormous pile of dryer clothes), put back in the bathroom. to be used….sequentially….because….they are nice towels

      welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine!

  2. OMG there’s homework???

Funny thing…this made me think about maybe doing my own backed up laundry. In fact, I even slipped some laundry discussion into my own post today. Now THAT’S threatening… LOL.

    I’m off to read Kristi’s post…

      Lisa

      cool

remember, the thing about the Doctrine is that it does not try for 100% matching of everything. this is because the Doctrine is not about seeing how many traits and habits and characteristics, likes and dislikes you have in common with one of the three worldviews! You will find that you have some of all three.
the Doctrine is about the character of your reality… your personal reality….your worldview

      …hey! here’s an easy one! what’s 2 + 2?

(don’t laugh! your answer will tell us way more than you think)

everyone? no whispering the Answer to Lisa! She can do this on her own!

  3. clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

(“…and I found this really fascinating personality blog that knows all about everyone and… well, I think it’s based on doing laundry….yeah! now that I hear it said like that… no, nothing else…. wait something about….hats and tee shirts. yeah, I guess that ties into laundry too! I think I better read it again.”)

  4. Kristi Campbell - findingninee says:

Ok fine I’ll say it even though all of you might hate me and shun me forever. My husband does ALL of the laundry. For real. I think he was worried I’d fuck up his shirts so now, he does it all. But yeah, folded is so much better than the occasional time he wants me to fold it. Because well. Yeah. Lisa will totally get it. I love her and so it is so.

  5. Denise; says:

Is no one the least bit curious about rogers and their towel? LOL
When, (at the time I was unaware it was) I had this rogerian “quirk” validated by another I thought “holy shit! that IS rogerian” :D
