TToT the Wakefield Doctrine (‘no!! really?! well, as long as it is still light out and there’s an internet to post to, the Doctrine will be there’)

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

20140829_175638_resized-2

1)  vid chats…. (which, L and me like, totally ground broke along with Michelle and zoe and D and them) interesting conversation with Joy and z and Lizzi last night)

2)  I am comfortable listing an item of hypo-gratitude (for):  the freezing cold mornings in this Year without Summer.

3) the Wakefield Doctrine (yes, that is such an obvious thing, however, allow me to share my latest insight that makes me (semi)glad to be a clark). Everyone enjoys the basic time travel fantasy. i.e. ‘If I could go back to 1973 when I was still 20 (or so), I would do (fill in the blank with favorite life activity) differently’* In any event, while all three personality types find this an enjoyable diversion, clarks find it an especially engaging daydream, many of us going so far as to include, ‘…you know, it might be possible. So, this afternoon as I drove along, I thought about what I would do if I were able to go back to 1973, and I caught myself and thought, with a certain amount of ruefulness, ‘better keep working on it, clark, you haven’t yet figured out how to get back there!’  Out of nowhere thought came to me, ‘damn!  maybe I have managed to figure out the secret of time travel and this is a far back as I could get!’

4) work…work…work (I was asked by a client if I still enjoyed my work and I was able to say, ‘Yes, yes I do! It allows me to do something that is not boring and no one controls my time or my) whereabouts’)

5) …have I mentioned being grateful for the TToT?    shit!  I think I have.  Wait….wait!  let me add a hypo-grateful aspect to my role of co-host**  Here I am, typing like a fiend, it’s 5:44 Saturday and I’m trying to decide who to throw in with, the devil on my left shoulder who says, ‘come on! clark, it’s late take it easy and besides, this is a sloppy, hastily written Post, it’s more of an insult to your talented (and at bare minimum 5/9ths totally hot co-hostinae to submit something as ‘on the fly as this thing‘, or the angel on my right shoulder who says, ‘no! you have a responsibility to these people and you better not mess up, and don’t you dare hit send without double…not, make that triple proofing it.

6)  (no dogs were in the car for the filming of the following video…)

7) Why yes, I have thought about the SBoR (aka BoSR) but, I’m in an old-fashioned/guilt-ridden mood, so I’m only going to use 1.3

8)  SR 6.7.3

9)  SR 6.7.3

10) I will conclude with SR 1.3 (with the SR 6.7.3 the infamous ‘tripler rule*** to wit: if a writer of a TToT list invokes the 6.7.3 Rule, then the explanation of said Rule, combined with the Grat Item (being tripled), must meet or exceed the word count of the two Items being….er   tripled. This word count must be of an amount that the average Reader would judge to be a sufficient to state, explain and justify, the Items that would have been written, were it not 5:44  5:54 PM EDST

clarkscottroger About clarkscottroger
Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one

    AM I FRIST?

  2. lrconsiderer says:

Looks like you managed to time-travel back ten minutes to complete this, or you went into the future.

I’m now desperately trying to work out the 5/9 and the 4/9 and wondering which I fall into. Don’t answer because I don’t think either answer will satisfy.

WE TOTALLY groundbroke it. And now THEY’RE ALL DOING IT! :D

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

and you the thing that is different (for me as a clark), in the past, as a clark, I would do things and then a roger would popularize and assume credit for it and I would be the only one who knew, but know….even though the rogers still take credit for most things, I have other clarks around who know what we do (as a people and as an individual).
      coolito

  3. zoebyrd says:

Good o’l 6.7.3 oft quoted. ..rarely used!
#3….when I was younger I frequently entertained this idea!

  4. Kristi Campbell - findingninee says:

I had to laugh at how damn relatable “maybe I have mastered time travel and this is as far back as I got” Clark thought. Also, what do you mean by 5/9ths totally hot co-hostinae? Because we are 10/10 hot. Just saying. Also I have no idea what movie you’re talking about over on Facebook from your driving video. What did I miss? Other than where you live is purdy…

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

…there are 9 hosts in whom the quality of hotitude would be desirable, this is not a perfect world, therefore….

‘A Streetcar Named Desire’ famous (for a certain age for the yelling of ‘Stella!!!’) that being Marlon Brando. It’s movie that many of us saw, maybe once, but it’s the meme that keeps it upfront in the memory.

yeah, I had a really good vid of a section of wide-open New England farm land, but I lost it in tradition.

  5. Kristi Campbell - findingninee says:

Oh. Duh. The movie’s in the FB thread.

  6. dyannedillon says:

    You drive too freaking fast.

  7. No dogs? Well woof to that!
I really love that you are always so grateful for your work. Not everyone can say that they are glad for what they do and that it fulfills or makes them happy. I think it’s awesome.

    • Oh, yeah, and in reading about WD this week, I found myself seeing me in all three types…and also none at all. So…yeah, still don’t get it.

      • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

        Lisa

au contraire! you are proceeding rather nicely! (go ahead, ask anyone!) totally on track for that moment that Lizzi will tell you, the “oh my god! they’re all around me!”

  8. susanzutautas says:

That was a fun road trip. I enjoyed that. Hope my comment works this week …. have to wait and see when I hit publish if it works. I’d really love to join you guys on your video chat when I get back from my vacation. I downloaded skype the other day so now I’m not as video shy as I was before. Hope you’re having a nice long weekend.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Susan

Totally would love to have you ‘stop by’… we start kinda early these days, (must be me getting old) but the chat runs as long as it runs…. so yeah the ‘god! is that me?!’ effect goes away pretty quickly, especially when most everyone else felt that same way initially.

  9. Clark, you are getting into the video making business. That was cool!

  10. valj2750 says:

Hell – where is that camera today? I 95 – no thanks. When I read about the SBOR sometimes I click on translate to see if it is in a different language. Hope your closing went well.

  11. christine says:

So nice that you enjoy your work. Of course, after working on a fishing boat, (like Deadliest Catch without the cameras and Dirty Jobs voice?) I imagine anything has to be better.
I’m awfully grateful for the TToT, too.
And finally, thanks for calling me hot. ;)

  12. Kristi says:

I don’t know why the other co-hosts are so curious about the hot comment; some of us live in very warm climates, and some of us don’t. I’m sure that is what you meant, right? :-)

  13. clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

as to Item #5… you are all absolutely correct

    (but, then you knew that)

  14. Hope your closing was quick and clean. I like time travel stories and often wonder what would happen if I could go back and do things differently. Of course it would change the present that I have now if I did a big change but still I wonder. I used to live in Groton, CT and drove on I-95 all the time. I have seen those signs!

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

like we (sometimes) do, the question we (should) ask, “maybe I have travelled in time” lol

You know, for a vid location, I am willing to take requests!

  15. Sandy Ramsey says:

I’ve got to learn to use those rules more efficiently. Especially in the next few months when life will be cuh-razy! As for time travel, I have to say as much as I would love to go back and have a couple (or more) do overs, I’m afraid it would change the here and now…which I happen to like.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

the BoSR can seem a lot of work, at first, but once you accept that there are very few people (if any) who have read it cover-to-cover, you will find that is is fun to find …that special Rule that seems, tailor-made for that last minute problem with a Grat List.

(one of my favorite, recent jokes about time travel…actually, I think it was more of a single panel cartoon. scene: some sort of protest or demonstration and the guy with the bullhorn is exhorting the crowd with: “What do we want?” (and the mass of) people respond: “Time Travel” and he continues, “when do we want it?” …. “that’s irrelevant!”
