TToT (as we celebrate the end of Summer) the Wakefield Doctrine …yeah, went by fast this year!

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

faster! drive faster!!

This week I may, to use a form of rogerian expression* supplant this list with a video, perhaps sometime tomorrow. I tried to record one on this evening’s walk with Una, but was unsuccessful as there were many lifeforms walking along the road… so, until that time, I will write my grat list the old fashioned way, one sentence at a time on my electrical keyboard.

1) The Book of Secret Rules (aka the Secret Book of Rules)… totally grateful for this godsend, (the use of which will now be demonstrated):  SR 5.3 ‘..when [an Item on a Gratitude List also serves to] provide helpful information for a new participant, said Item maybe be {broken}

2) {up}, so as to provide the information, but (if) it also serve(s) as illustration of the Rule (being cited),  said illustration may be presented as it’s {own}

3) {Item}… furthermore, the Rule, if used in a case where a specific person is named (sub. chapter 3.5) and provided the name is hyper linked, {may count as}

4) {Four!} there you go! Val   the basic Rules of Use of the Book of Secret Rules (aka the Secret Book of Rules). Use it with skill and you’ll be fine… abuse it and there are Seven (no, not 3 and not 4)….Seven GuardVirgins who you will have to answer to… (don’t let the ‘Virgins’ fool ya….this is, after all, the world of metaphor  so be wary)  (zoe will be of help if you think you are getting cornered by one (or more) of the Seven… she knows them very well).

5)  I am totally grateful for the response (of Readers) this week to my difficulty writing Posts. While the term, ‘writers block’ was bandied about, (which, given my own opinion of my skills in this medium, I took as a high compliment), support and encouragement was the order of the day this week. Interestingly enough, the Doctrine was illustrated in the out-cropping** of concern and well-wishing.  the scotts were all…’Hey!!  don’t worry about it! you’re fine…relax….write!!!’  and the rogers were, ‘we know how you feel and have felt that way ourselves, we care about you and everything will be alright‘ and the clarks went with the, ‘cool! you know, I think I have an idea… this may seem weird but… lol

6) We did go on our weekly car-walk.  The weather was rather pleasant this Friday evening, which meant, there were other life forms along our path, so the two attempts to do a ‘walking video’ were unsuccessful mostly because Una takes her job, (riding shotgun), quite seriously. (To her credit: my car is very… very quiet and we drive at 5 to 10 mph and so tend to be on the stealthy side, when we come upon someone walking in the same direction as we are driving, we can get right up behind them before they even know we are there…. Una appreciates this and seems to get a kick out of waiting…. barking right behind their left ear…(lol)  so, I yesterday I ended up having to roll up the windows whenever I would see someone on the road ahead.

7) My work. By it’s nature requires that I spend a great deal of time on it, sort of every day of the week (though I do try to get part of Sunday off), but it is varied and interesting and requires me to drive around in my car (which is fun) and deal with a wide variety of people (which is …fun) and so, while I am grateful for it, I have to hurry up and finish this list as it is already 7:24 and I need to leave the house. (I will admit to being hypo-grateful for the fact that I cannot get back to this blog until, like, the middle of the afternoon today, at which point I’ll have 27 new Posts to try and catch up with).

8) grateful to Lizzi for the rather excellent Guest Post (on ‘Guest Post Thursday’s Guest Post… clarks’) this week. You should read it… wait! this is the internet… you can read it!! Click this

9) This Space reserved for Video entry  (and a great Friday Night vid chat  with zoe and Denise and Laura and those two English birds, Lizzi and Christine)

10) SR 1.3  (Hey! Val!!  watch and learn yo)

* a unique, startling and very interesting thing that rogers do (with language)… (I’ll come back with a definition, with examples, after I finish the Post, until then, you can follow this link and read up on it yourself)

** yeah, another rogerian expression!… remind me and I will make that an item when I do the Video Finish of today’s Post

clarkscottroger About clarkscottroger
Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one

Comments

  1. And I totally wrote the opposite about the beginning of the summer with summer vacation just starting for my girls! But seriously, think I may be first and have a wonderful weekend now, as always :)

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

the warm part will just keep getting (better) the sunset, unfortunately not as much… but at least it will be a slow progression
looking forward to Summer activity photos

  2. frist anyway! :) jean

  3. zoebyrd says:

Yes, but doesnt sr5.3 subsection h state that said rule can be broken into no more than a diad??? Somewhere there is a pissed off virgin thinking you took advantage! I will explain and tell them you were just unschooled in that particular rule…no worries….

    • what is the problem? I don’t see any problem!!! xox jeh

      • zoebyrd says:

you know that priviledged “frist” status is turning you into a bit of a suckup! LOL!

        • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

…I’m sorry, I did not see your ‘FRIST’ score/ratio-of-deserving-attention-osity rating…. would you please state your score so that I might better formulate the appropriate Reply to your ‘Comment’?

          • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

            lol

            • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

hey!! Jean called in on the Saturday Night call last night! good conversation

              how was your wedding?

              • I cannot find zoe to respond to, but zoe–it is me! I want to be frist!
                OK?
                xox jean :)

                • zoebyrd says:

by all means jean should be frist!!!otherwise that Scott of hers will never let her rest!!! the wedding was good but I am beyond exhausted now. It was a4 hour commute one way. Which I’m just not cut out for any longer unfortunately.I’ve been spending today recuperating. But I do have to get online at some point.

                  • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

damn! 4 hours one way is way too much a drive (and I assume you, being a prudent person, would not have considered staying over at the wedding place, resting and returning, the next day)… for any of us.

                    • zoebyrd says:

I would have, but brought my 86 yo mother to her grandaughters wedding and she has difficulty maneuvering in new spaces so she didnt want to stay… oh well… Skip stayed with neighbors but howled between 11 pm and 2 am… so I just picked him up when I got home as they had sent me several texts to that effect… I have never heard him howl before…

              • zoebyrd says:

oh man, I just realized I missed Jean on Fri?! BUMMER!

                • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

actually it was Saturday… on the telephone (old fashioned) call in! I think you called in once.. different pace than the vidchat…. more something we gotta get you next Saturday

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      lol

      thank you… lol

  4. Roger here saying that Writer’s Block has obviously passed for you!

  5. lrconsiderer says:

    Tick V.G.

(works in England, where a ‘tick’ is a ‘check’, but I’m not checking on you…)

    • jny_jeanpretty says:

checking for ticks here in the Lyme Disease capital of the universe! thanks for the reminder!
      xox jeh!

  6. Oh, don’t say it’s the end of summer…I completely understand why, but I’m just getting started!

  7. Kristi says:

If only we were on the end of the hot temperatures, but no, we’ve barely ventured into the 100s. I guess I’m thankful that we’ve only crossed that threshold a handful of times so far this year. :-)

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

I am fond of saying to people, at this time of year, ‘why no, it is not hot enough for me!’

  8. valj2750 says:

I need to keep reading the posts.

    Val

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Val
it can be fun… you will get it, it may surprise you that one day, something falls into place, then…. rogers! and scotts and clarks all around you and the thing is, they will, and you will be sure that they never came anywhere near this blog, but they will act just like you read about!

  9. Kristi Campbell - findingninee says:

My mom was out this past week. She’s from Montana. She about died in the heat 97degrees and humid. It snowed in Yellowstone. She was ready for our summer to be over too. You got writers block? How cool.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      lol

(yeah, with the encouragement of my friends, I have allowed myself the condition writers’ block) seems to be passing (for the moment).

  10. dyannedillon says:

I totally abused the Book of Secret Rules (or Secret Book of Rules) by telling a long-winded story and only giving one thankful.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

Your least have always been so direct and straightforward, I, for one, enjoyed the variation of style…

well… as long as the Seven GuardVirgins do not take exception, you might get away with it!

      • dyannedillon says:

You just like that I was a rebel…

        • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

(half the time I ended up in the Principles Office in grade school, it was because my scottian friend actually did what I thought is doing… you guys are fun that way) not that I thought of non-list lists… but the fun of scotts is in the ‘sure! why the hell not?’ approach to things in life and such

  11. clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

I believe ‘FRIST’ on the Post goes to Janine (8:20 am Saturday)

you (Jean) I believe had FRIST for the Day… that is, if we call 5 of 4 this morning, today

    • Clark, OK.
      Yes zoe ! I missed you! :)
It didn’t stop me from talking too much and interrupting.
They were very kind and polite about that.
I hope you had a wonderful weekend.
      xoxox! jean

      • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

lol no it was a normal call in… sometimes quiet considered conversations, sometimes yelling and laughing conversations!

  12. In a clark moment, I have to comment that every other day, your blog tracker seems to think I’m in Nebo, Union Grove, or some other random place that I don’t know about in NC. Hehe.
Glad for the “thankful” post. :) I haven’t been doing the hops (literally and figuratively) for lack of time, but I’ll manage a post here and there. That writer’s block? Yeah, it’s not so nice when it strikes. Of course, being a clark, you’ll be able to coin together random phrases – WORDS – and decide if they’re rogerian, clarkish or scottish. (Hahahahaha)

  13. PS – took your advice about the ‘tude. Process of slight re-vamping in progress. As is the continual assessment as to what the hell it really is that I might do with myself…

  14. Yvonne says:

Ha, ha, I laughed at Una’s antics. Poor person getting sneaked up on like that! Is your car a hybrid? We’ve had those and they are quiet.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Yvonne

I would swear she enjoys it… lol

(one of my favorite dog stories: I was showing a house once where the Seller said, ‘We have a dog, a German Shepherd who is very protective, but we will tie her up in the yard for your showing’. Got to the house, heard the barking and, after we saw the inside of the house, went out to the backyard. Sure enough, there she was, this ferocious dog barking and leaping in the air, putting on a great show of protecting the property. The people I was with said, ‘it’s ok, Clark, they tied the dog up, lets go into the yard’.
At that point I looked closer at the lead attached to the collar of the dog in the yard, and I noticed that there were at least 2 ‘coils worth’ of leash on the ground…lying slack in the grass. The dog was jumping up in the air, but not actually pulling on the restraint. I love the way sometimes people don’t appreciate the way dogs think…)

  15. Jen @ Driftwood Gardens says:

I’m with Val – still trying to get a grasp on this Secret Book of Rules thing. Still waiting for that magical day when it “clicks”. I’d be interested to know what kind of work you do sometime, and as always, I love it when Una makes an appearance! Hope you are having a great week.
    Jen

      Jen

the Book of Secret Rules (aka the Secret Book of Rules) is…sort of, the license and (encouragement) to play with the format (of the TToT), predicated on the right-mindedness of the participants (i.e. no one is trying to shortcut or otherwise cheat the system) which recognizes that there are times when circumstances push us towards bending and mutating the Rules (for a specific purpose and occasion)… the counter-balance to this license is that there are pretty skilled and accomplished writers sitting in judgement of your… framing and explaining and otherwise telling people about a new (Secret) Rule

now, that, I’m sure makes everything so much clearer….lol
