TToT Fifty the Wakefield Doctrine

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

CaveDog3

in no way wanting to risk my own self-perception of being the quirky-but-lovable clark in the midst of the group of sincere-and-talented writerz, I will still follow my impulse for today/this weekend/the grand- and-first-anniversary of this excellent bloghop…with (from June 7th 2013),  the following reprint:

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

use this one

…and welcome to the Inaugural Edition of the ‘Ten Things of Thankful’ blog hop.

The  idea-child (to organize a blog hop with ‘Ten Things of Thankful’ as the central theme), of ‘the Considerer’. Her idea of a Saturday blog hop offers to demonstrate an aspect of the internet that is truly remarkable.  To have a community created by the thoughts and ideas (shared by) people from all over the planet… coming into existence for a day…spreading outwards through the blogosphere, passed along, modified enhanced then to fading from view…only to return again, different yet the same. How cool is that?

and…and!!  there are 9 co-hosts!  (the afore-mentioned Considerer), and

  1. A Fly on our (Chicken Coop) Wall
  2. A Woman’s Place
  3. Bringing the Sunshine
  4. Finding Ninee
  5. Icansaymama
  6. Shoved to Them
  7. Steps into Parenthood
  8. the Wakefield Doctrine

Each week…

That’s about it for me, for this Post. While familiar of with use and value of compiling a gratitude list, creating a list is an interestingly arduous task! Not that I am ungrateful, ( non-grateful?? anti-grateful?? hypo-grateful???  lol), for the things in my life, I have not engaged in a formal exercise before this…I will, without a doubt, be sharing my thoughts and impressions as the weeks progress.
And I am also a big advocate of bloghops… especially for those of us who spend a lot of time writing a blog. The hop (like this one right here) is an opportunity to ‘get out… meet new people, read blogs that you might not otherwise come into contact with… so add your blog to the place below that says sign up here… it’ll be fun.

List of 10 things about/within/comprising my life today 06/08/2013 that I feel grateful for:

  1. coming to know interesting people such as Considerer, simply because there is no way I would have met her, were it not for her blog
  2. having the time available to write this post
  3. seeing examples of Posts as written by the other co-hosts
  4. having a family (wife and dog*)
  5. having known the perfect dog…Ola
  6. living in a climate that is only bi-annually of intolerable climate (lol)
  7. the 3 or 4 years spent on fishing boats
  8. the friends that I have
  9. the enemies that I do not have (at least not in large numbers)
  10. the invitation from Considerer to co-host this here bloghop here

Now the hard part!  There’s supposed to appear some code for a button and an invitation to join us… all I need to do is get it right…. hold on….

Ten Things of Thankful
 Your hosts

(and since this post…the new hostinae:  Sandy (at) Mother of Imperfection, Sarah (at) Amycake and the Dude,  Dyanne (at) I Want Backsies, Kristi (aka K2) at Thankful Me, Michelle ‘Getting Literal‘   and……   zoe (zo eee zo eee!) at re-Written)

in the words of ‘the Dead’…. ‘what a long, strange trip it’s been

While I am one of those who still struggles with the appreciation of the benefits of gratitude. I have no doubt that I am better for having participated in this bloghop.  I’ll use one of our favorite words, perspective.  The TToT has given me the gift of an (additional/enhanced/varied) perspective.  Fun group, interesting posts every weekend and I get to hangout with people that I would never in 673 years, encounter and become close to in ‘Real’ Life.

nice work, Ms. Rogers

clarkscottroger About clarkscottroger
Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one

Comments

  1. FRIST!

  2. jny_jeanpretty says:

Great entry, dear clark. I am missing my dog too… he died on June 6th last year, I am glad you have a new dog who is beautiful, and a beautiful wife too, to be thankful for, as well as Lizzi and “our gang” :) xoxoxox jean

  3. jny_jeanpretty says:

remember: “don’t take any rubber calculators!”

  4. You forgot me!! Ah well, a happy b’day and here’s more Thankfuls to come!!

  5. Yay to 50! And you know the weather one I was all over, because seriously am so happy that it is summer and I have not seen snow here in 2 months, which is a feat unto itself to me!! Happy 50th again and enjoy the weekend now :)

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Janine

Celebrate 6 snowless weeks! (though it was in, like, the 40s a couple of mornings this week) looking forward to the ‘proof-by-pool’ photos at ‘confessions!

  6. zoebyrd says:

So how fancy pants was the dance you had to do to be able to use an old list of ten? Don’t tell me the virgins let you get away with that? They must be slipping! It has been a pleasure Clark… I feel fortunate to have met your quirky, clarky self… thanks…now get those hats on the order form will ya? My damn head needs a hat…

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

well I could claim that there is a certain, un-spoken… affinity between myself and those Seven,,, but with the forceful and magnetic effect of my Y Chromosity, no reasonable person would entertain my credibility, were I to make such a preposition!

      is mutual, yo

      • zoebyrd says:

especially since Lizzi outed four of them as male…and they don’t seem to be your type…

      • lrconsiderer says:

Four guys, because then we nine have to share them, and you get three to yourself, Mr Y Chrome. (and just because you can’t balance seven properly between appropriateness and ten people)

  7. Happy birthday to the TToT. Glad to have met you through it, Clark, and enjoying learning about the Wakefield Doctrine as well.

  8. lrconsiderer says:

The only clark? The only captial-C one, perhaps, and yeah okay you get to take a majority or something for being the progenitor, but aren’t there seriously a GLUT of us about this hop? Me, Zoe, Kristi? We at least consist the majority of the three types amongst the co-hosts.

A good reminder, sir, of how it was in the beginning. And yes, what a strange and wonderful journey it’s been in between.

Now…go kick the howling in the balls. I’ve gotten free. Just about.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      lol

finally back from work… hope the crowd is not yet too huge… start to make the rounds

      • lrconsiderer says:

Large-ish. Good luck. Thank goodness you have cake to fortify you (no, wait…you should GET cake to fortify you, seeing as yours was half-inched from Phyllis)

  9. Kristi says:

Happy birthday to the hop. How clever to repost your first TToT contribution.

  10. Sandy Ramsey says:

Nice work Ms. Rogers indeed!I love the inaugural post for the TToT! What a great idea you had to share that!

  11. Sarah says:

Well, now I am super interested in your years on fishing boats. Pray tell.

  12. christine says:

While I would normally side with Zoe on your use of an old post, I won’t today. Birthdays are celebrations of years gone by, and you can celebrate any way you want. Plus, I actually enjoyed going back to see the first one. I actually forgot that so many of the current co-hosts weren’t co-hosting from day 1. There are only 4 of us, including Lizzi! Wow.

  13. Kristi Campbell - findingninee says:

Why didn’t I think to repost my very first? Brilliant. Please get Zoe a hat.

  14. I like blog hops, too. BUT – all the commenting is exhausting. So…lately, I haven’t been participating because…I’ve been visiting in-laws on the weekends and playing tennis…not much time for lots of comments, lol.
I hope you’ve been good! Tomorrow is graduation. You’d think my life might slow down after that…

  15. zoebyrd says:

    LAST!

  16. Joy Christi says:

I might MIGHT be officially be “Last” due to the fact that I left this window open and was interrupted when reading, now I’ve come back days later, not sure if I commented or not, so I read through the comments and now I’m SUPER curious about the boats (have you blogged about that before?) and as to why Zoe needs a hat so badly? Gardening? Hopefully not any impending hair loss, and when was my first TToT and how bad was that? And now I can’t remember much of anything about the post or what was I getting at…..

    • don’t worrry Joy, you are not last: I’ve got your back! LOL

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Joy

I think something similar happened to me (on Sunday) I was out, reading and Commenting and then there were more and more and more Posts for the ‘versary and the next thing I know it’s Tuesday morning!
..the boats: commercial fishing (boats) Galilee (no, not that Galilee…the one in Rhode Island) only for a few years in the early 80s)
…zoe has taken a hankerin for a Doctrine hat (for her damn head)…example can be seen on Tuesday’s Post

  17. dyannedillon says:

Sorry, Zoe, not last. I am VERY BEHIND this week.
I used #1 from my original list as #10 on my list, so I’ll give you the re-use of your old (and unbelievably NORMAL) list from a year ago.
Still waiting for some fishing boat stories….

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      ok…quick story

I was offshore on the FV Christine Denise (no, really! FV stands for Fishing Vessel) and the boat itself was what is called an Eastern Rig, older fashioned wooden boat, about 85′ long. In this type of boat, the ‘living quarters are at the very front of the boat, in what is called the foc’sle. This is also where the ‘kitchen’ was, which included an oil stove (as heat and cooking). Very cozy in the winter. We used diesel fuel in this stove and, over time, deposits built up inside the metal smoke stack that came out of the stove, up through the deck into the open air.
So, one fine autumn day we were working on deck (‘picking fish’) and noticed that the smoke coming out of the stack was…extra think. ….and increasing in amounts…lol Sticking my head down into the foc’sle, I noticed that the base of the smoke stack seemed to be starting to glow. It quickly became evident that we had a chimney fire.
(Most fishing boats have deck hoses, which takes seawater and pumps to up to the deck for purposes of cleaning the deck and other purposes. These are just a little under the size of fire hoses, and run constantly (hanging over board, putting back the water whenever we did not have an immediate use for).
So we had to use the deck hose to put out the fire. Made quite the mess.
Interesting situation, a fire on a boat floating on all the water needed to put out a fire.
      arr!!!

      • dyannedillon says:

Yayyyy! I got a story!!!! Since you are telling the story in first person, I can be thankful (as can you) that this didn’t turn into a Norse funeral….

        • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

          true…
next time, I’ll tell the (semi-embarrassing story) of how one boat can almost crash into another boat, when both are the only two moving things in a 200 square mile section of ocean..lol
