“a clark, a clark and a clark wash ashore on a desert island*…” the Wakefield Doctrine -Wednesday-

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

iEXDi

…so I said to (another) clark yesterday, “Did you ask so-and-so out, to that thing that you two were talking about?” and this clark said, “yeah, well no, but I think it will work out, I’m pretty sure that we’ll both be there and we can hangout”.

…and that old familiar feeling began to give a certain volume to my thoughts as I said, “what the hell are you talking about?! I was there, it was pretty much set right from the start.”  The response: “well, I was thinking about it and I just need to figure out this one thing….
I will save my subsequent rant for another time. Instead I will add to the Wakefield Doctrine ‘Warning Label’

Wakefield Doctrine Warning Label

  • if you learn the characteristics of the three worldviews well enough to spot (the) clarks, scotts and rogers in your life, you may find that you cannot stop seeing the clarks, scotts and rogers in your world
  • if you are a clark and you learn about the worldview of the Outsider, you may find yourself becoming frustrated with other clarks in your life, when they are being extremely (and self-destructively/defeatingly) clarklike and in the middle of your impassioned (and detailed) and totally correct rant (meant to help them overcome this), you will realize that you, yourself, are still subject to these same…. conditions of the reality of the Outsider
  • …however, with this realization you will find hope, not only for the person you know you can help, but for yourself…somehow, (you’re not really sure how, but you know it’s got to be true)
  • if you are a scott and you learn about the Wakefield Doctrine enough to find yourself thinking, ‘hey! thats one of those clarks, I knew there was something I liked about him/her‘, the next thing you will think is:  “what the fuck?!  I let them get away!!”  (but you will laugh it off and go find yourself some rogers, they’re easy)
  • if you’re a roger and you learn enough about the Wakefield Doctrine you may find yourself not enjoying the good-natured ribbing you and everyone at your table in the cafeteria are giving that new girl in the sales department (after she’s left and returned to her desk) and even though it’s a fact that she is strange with that hair and those boots and how she seems to talk to herself… it starts to bother you about how all your friends are laughing at her, but you decide that you’re be extra nice the next time…which makes you feel good about yourself…so good that you decide you really should stop by her desk and tell her about your decision to help her

Hey!!  I need to write a Post about the Wakefield Doctrine! (lol, yeah I know)  Anyway…if you were an Editor and I had a book on your desk (this book has everything about the Doctrine that you know and everything as it is contained in the pages of the blog) what 2 suggestions would you make?

Daily A’s and Z’ss  Challenge

Lizzi:  she gots some good stuff going on over at Consideringseses

zoe:   very interesting (and informative) Post  I really like the kind of information that she’s providing in these Posts… the stuff you never thought to look up, but it will totally amaze the friends the next time you’re all hanging out playing… ‘how long can this roger go on about how intelligent they want every to believe they are‘ …. lol  (yes, this appears to be Filter-less Wednesday!)  Read This Thing!!

Dyanne  oh Dy….annnne!!  wakey wakey!!!  (while we allow the time zone to adjust, here is our scott-of-the-Prairie’s post from yesterday:  SSSS

* to be fair and, god forbid we should run the risk of disappointing anyone, following is an actual Desert Island joke:

A blonde, a brunette and a redhead were stuck on an island for many, many years until one day they found a magic lamp.

They rubbed it hard and out popped a genie. He said that he could only give three wishes so since there were three girls, each would get one wish.

The redhead went first. “I hate it here. It is too hot and boring. I want to go home!” “Okay,” replied the genie.

And off she went.

Then the brunette went. “I miss my family, my friends and relatives. I want to go home, too!!”

And off she went.

The blonde started crying and said, “I wish my friends were back here!”

clarkscottroger About clarkscottroger
Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one

hahahhahhaa…. that’s what ya get for hangin’ with idiots.

two suggestions: 1. let me think.
    2. declare me frist!

  2. The one big thing I really appreciate knowing about the fact that I’m a clark: is that I AM the Outsider. I take comfort in knowing that because it’s my personality, it makes it easier to deal with the fact that I go through life being misunderstood. As I’m nearing the end of my graduate degree and entertaining the possibility of various jobs, I am reminded about why I left the last one and if there’s the possibility of me returning. I hope that somehow my personality type will be secondary to my accomplishments and legacy I’ve left there. Just some heavy thoughts on this slightly chilly Wednesday morning…
Ah…now to work on this last presentation…*sigh*

“…somehow my personality type will be secondary to my accomplishments and legacy I’ve left there.” yeah, know what you mean. (to paraphrase my favorite old-dead-guy saying, “…it’s not the same river after you step in it, either”)

??!! (I really hope that that genuinely does not make any sense! it would be way worse if it does make sense and I can’t figure out how to express it…lol)

but, I will say that, while I don’t believe that we stop being Outsiders, we have more perspective on this and therefore have a much, much wider range of options and choices. You, if I may be so forward, are demonstrating this rather convincingly, balancing the fact of your being a clark, while leveraging your scottian secondary…guided by the added perspective that you have over it all. Very good work, Mz. Cyndi!

OK. very fun blonde joke! and excellent observations on many things.
Question: Can you tell a person is a clark, scott, or roger from any country in the world.
And what if they are crazy? Can you STILL tell if they are a clark, a scott or a roger? jeh nay

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Jean

      yes and yes*

(the first one is interesting: the Doctrine is culture neutral, but it (often) takes more careful viewing to see the relationship the person (in a different culture) is manifesting)

*using the everyone does everything at one time or another’ principle (how a clark might manifest being crazy and a scott and a roger**)

** always keep in mind, that the Doctrine is about how the person relates themselves to the world around them, so that relationship will always figure in… ‘as an Outsider’ ‘as a Predator’ as a Herd Member

      • thanks! that is interesting. Can you tell if a person is a clark, scott, or roger by their fave films?
For example: THE BREAKFAST CLUB, or The Breakfast Club, or SPARTACUS?

      • zoe says:

So if someone is clinically “crazy” (Thanks for the terminology jny Hee!) , can you really say consistently that they are scott, roger or clark? Behaviors can be so erratic when psychologically disregulated… sorry I think this is consistently the place we part ways ( I can confidently use the word “consistently” cuz Im not crazy, see????? No, really, Im not….)

        • WE agree with what zoes said! jean and jean

        • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

actually I will agree (with certain, what??! you want to qualify your response!?!? no frickin way!!!)

the Doctrine has not ventured into the realm of dysfunction (minor or major), though I recall be asked once what the Doctrine suggests to helping someone who was not right/messed up, the answer then, as it is now, was, the Doctrine is for you, not for them. And this is still true, if the question is what can the Doctrine do with psychotic or clinically disturbed people.

having said that…. (lol that didn’t take so long!)

the point I was (hoping) to make is that the personality types of the Doctrine is all about how the individual relates themselves to the world around them and I would love to do a study that attempted to determine worldview in the case of pre and post …. (what’s the technical term, zoe?) oh yeah pre and post craziosity

  4. findingninee says:

Your last bullet about the Rogers had me chuckling – that he’d go and tell her how he’s gonna help! HA. And that joke. Aw, that joke. Love it.

  5. Rogers are softies, Clark. Except when they are being anal!

  6. Joy Christi says:

I love that joke! My racist/sexist/weirdo old man always told it as the blonde was a “Polock” b/c my mom is Polish. Lizzi is ROCKING the A to Z, or “Zed” as she says ;)
I HAVE to look into Zoe’s more. I’m slacking on even READING these, can’t imagine WRITING something every day. It’s making my eye twitch just thinking about it.
p.s. Sometimes Scott’s are are EASY, too. I can say that, as mayor McScott of Scottville.

  7. lrconsiderer says:

Wait, did the roger just look after the clark? NOOOooooo that did NOT HAPPEN!

  8. zoe says:

2.) Pragmatic , practical everyday usage that can be used functionally beyond observation,(eg see a roger in this situation then try this strategy…. )
