TToT by the damn day! the Wakefield Doctrine (“We were this close to doing a right and proper TToT Post… if at first you don’t….”)

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

* Monday 01.20.14  well (water) service done on time with a 10% discount!   Enjoy the traditional greeting from Una (and the photo I thought to take with my phone turns out to be useful as a Post photo)

* Tuesday 01.21.14 ……      (shit!  forgot to write contemporaneous Gratitude item!)

I will begin today’s Post by saying, “Congratulations to Christine for her Award nomination,  ‘the 2014 Sheenazing Awards’.

I need to address my failed, write-like-a-real-person, effort for this today’s TToT Post. I will, however, take credit for 1 1/2 items. (no, make that 2 and 1/2 items)…. wait… wait!  (I’m re-reading Item 1  service man on time? 1,  get a discount? (jeez kind of a girl thing, but what the hell…. 2)  greeting from Una (I walk in… she waits on the couch, I sit at one end of said couch, she sits sorta on a lap(photo above) and we discuss our day…. gonna have to go with 1 item there, that takes us up to 3 and finally, I thought to use my phone for a photo and it turned out useable… that’s Number 4.  And since, I’m going with the by-the-numbers-verifiable-gratitudinous items, while I’m not grateful that I totally forget to continue my day-by-day effort, the Tuesday entry above forms my jumping off point, so 5 it is!

6) the Comments, thoughts, feedback and input from the people responding to a couple of Posts here at the Doctrine this week. I have difficulty relating myself to people who are saying nice thing to and about me, but they did and I respect them enough not to get all….”no!  no, you’re just saying that to make me feel good“.

7) vid chat last night with zoe and Michelle, we covered a lot of ground and I came to several points-of-understanding and appreciation of and for: the Wakefield Doctrine, the workings of (the individual’s) worldview and insight and encouragement for my efforts to continue working on this thing  you know, the fun of the Doctrine for clarks

8) with yesterday’s Post, the Sunshire Award thing… yet another experience that results in my being more than I was the day before, pretty much due to the response of the people involved…nothing clarkweird or obtuse, simply was fun!

9) Work today.  Holy shit!  an actual contemporaneous grat list item!! yahoo! ‘Gratitude item’ experienced and expressed in relatively, nearly, realtime!)

10) I should explain what my thinking behind today’s list, for the benefit of my new co-hostettes (Sandy and Lisa), new Readers who might be joining us for the first time…and any rogers who might have stopped by, thinking they heard the sound of a crowd.

yes, time to get to the aforementioned work, I will stop by at various points in the day to read and Comment…. everyone comment on this Post, please. Thank you. Thank you very much.

Ten Things of Thankful

clarkscottroger About clarkscottroger
Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one

Comments

  1. zoe says:

    first?

  2. zoe says:

woohoo! okay I am sure I have a comment but after reading I think you may have reverted further than you think… ie I have to reread this… hold on… be right back.

  3. zoe says:

I take that back… it was on me… I am a bit cloudy in the morning (and I don’t mean michelle”s dog, as I bet she would have read this correctly… being of the superior k9 species and all.)

Actually very nice list… nice shot of una too…

A lizziless chat was definitely lower key but I too enjoyed a better view of Doctriness… although I didn’t get nearly as much observation time in…

discounts are genderless btw. (damn you got a sexist twist in your shorts… well THAT didn’t come out right but ya know what I mean.)

    • Lizzi R says:

*snorks with laughter* Just don’t ask him to stand up…

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

I enjoyed the chat last night (as I have virtually every night)… the real time thing allows what this ‘print’ media never will… the modifying of (created) ideas in the process of their (the idea’s) development, as a result of the feedback and reaction of (each other).

  4. Joy Christi says:

I don’t know if I count as a Roger, who doesn’t love a good Roger-ing, but my favorite part as you probably know by now, is the game of the Bending of the Rules. I picture the “rules” to now look like an old slinky that’s been stretched out in every direction. Yes, that is what I love about this whoooole shebang.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

lol ok… the ‘rogering’ that I hear you refer to is, more appropriately found at the ‘hands’ of a scott…having said that the Book of Secret Rules requires of us to work harder (to successfully use a Rule) than we would have if we simply wrote the to items…. ( there are, after all the 7 GuardVirgins who have to be contended with)

  5. Kristi says:

I must admit, the traditional numbered list is easy for my mind to understand. However, the creative numbering (or not) in past posts makes stopping by the blog a bit of an adventure–How will Clark make his TToT this week?

  6. Your TToT posts are always such fun, Clark, a bit like playing Sudoku and working to make the numbers fall into place. I love your “did it my way” approach, how boring it would be if we all walked in a straight line! Love that dog photo too, you can’t ever go wrong with critter pix! :-)

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

totally agree about the animal/dog photos… they are so photogenic, probably because they are not as self-conscious as some of us humans…truth be told, I am often surprised when I go back to the POst and read it (usually about now, at the end of the day… most of the time it’s ‘hey! not bad’…some of the time, ‘shit! better write tomorrow’s post and cover this thing up!) lol

  7. I really have to read more here than I have about the Wakefield Doctrine so that I can understand those references better. From what I’ve read, I think I know where I fall, but I could be wrong.

The water service discount thing – yeah, that’s a winner! Loved Zoe’s comment above – second time today I spit out my coffee while reading!

Those Sunshine Awards and things do have a way of making one feel all warm and fuzzy, don’t they? I think they kind of die with me, though, because I get to the part where I’m supposed to pass them forward and I get all nervous about forgetting someone or offending someone…

Love the sort of photo with Una – pets are great when they do stuff like that. I’ll be glad when my cat stops being worried that I’m going to sit on him (it’s in my TToT list) and will come for some love again.

    Have a wonderful week!

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Lisa

we have a rule at the Doctrine: “no one can say, hey! you’re a ….” it is for the person, if they have the interest, to learn and discover for themselves. Having said that, there is no rule against people helping you understand the three worldviews in the interest of seeing your own predominant worldview.

yes, warm and fuzzy is my middle name

yeah she has that dog like natural confidence that (often) translates into ‘hey lets chill and tell me about your day’

  8. Congrats on the discount! Maybe that was a reason why Una was so happy, she’s a girl after all! I have to apologize for being notoriously absent these days, just can’t keep a thought together or my eyes open past 9 pm. I’ll get betterm I promise :-)

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Stephanie
yeah, not that I have ever been accused of being sexist, but what the hell is it about you people and savings and discounts and such! (So many things I have learn about the denizens of Xchromia that had I known when I was 19 what I know now… well!)

  9. Lizzi R says:

    1 + 1 (+.5) = 5

LOVE it. I think Joy’s analogy of an old, overstretched slinky is perfect. And we do have our fun here.

I was sorry to miss you all, and well done on the very rogerian manner in which you accepted the award and fielded the feedback, and on your very clarklike response to my faux pas last night :D

    Whoops!

I did miss you guys though. I tried to get in later, but the connection broke before I had chance to say anything. You all just froze.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Lizzi

yeah! we saw you (on that late attempt, but just for a second… figured that was what happened!

I have an idea for a series as part of ‘Life Vidiotic’… ring me up next FB time or maybe tomorrow am (local)

  10. Yvonne says:

Aw, Una is cute! Interesting list and congrats on getting an award and on people saying nice things about you!
I have done the day-by-day thanks thing the last few weeks, but – ssh don’t tell anyone – I cheat a bit and just write them when I remember. So all is not always as it seems.
Hope you’re having a good weekend!

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Yvonne

thank you… the process of awards and accolades is very enlightening! I still have a goal to write a traditional grat list, but time seems to work against me in my efforts to start drafts more ahead of the deadline than ‘hurry up, it’s due!’

  11. Should we just start calling you Mr.Sunshine from now on?

  12. Roger or not, I am here and just want to thank you as always for hosting, as well as wish you a great rest of your weekend. Keep warm and still praying Spring will come around these parts sooner rather then later now!! :)

  13. Sandy Ramsey says:

Never a dull moment in the never ending “how can I bend, stretch, manipulate/mutilate the rules” game here at the Doctrine. A fun game to play every week!
Your dog is adorbs (that’s tween for adorable). I’ve been spending lots of time deciphering this new language I am learning and it’s totes (totally) frustrating but whatevs (whatever)..insert eyeroll here….
I think discounts are a total shoo-in for a thankful list!
    Have a great week!

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Sandy

thankee (I was going to try to continue this reply is a ‘kid language’ but I recognize that I do not have a direct source and so run the very real risk of sounding… er stupid!) I do reserve the right to use ‘way out of date’ slang ’cause I’m used to it and I can’t hear anyone complaining (with my fingers in my ears).

  14. I thought I did my list quite nicely today (first TtoT) until I saw yours and Lizzi’s creative layouts. I think I’ll do that next time. Nothing like being greeted by our furry “kids,” is here? :-) Our cats just take over the couches, bed… whatever here. We’ve gotten used to it. Just wait until we’re able to get a dog one of these days. Then they’ll be in for a nice, little surprise! Ha! ;) Hope you’re having a good weekend Clark!

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Melanie

hey good to ‘see’ you! and welcome to the best bloghop around… lol… adding a dog to cat household must be a lot like asking the professional wrestler to play with the ballet dancer… lol

yeah, we have a Book of Secret Rules (and 7 GuardVirgins) and a bunch of people that have somewhat odd perspectives on Post writing…total fun!

  15. Ah, the video chat. It made my list too. I remember hearing the concept years ago along with other futuristic ideas like flying cars and thinking it sounded horrid. I thought I would always have to look presentable and keep the house that way too. Now with grown kids off on adventures I use it happily several times a week.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

yeah…funny about how with every change/advance in communications there comes a new set of rules for proper behavior…the visual element of the vid chat is very interesting, both as it affects our need for housekeeping, to the advantages inherent in realtime communication.

we use goggle+ hangouts as it allows up to 10 participants at a time… you should join us next Friday or Sunday!

  16. froginparis says:

Dog cuddles at the end of a day make it all worth it. I really need to figure out this Wakefield Doctrine thing. Love personality tests and understanding how people work in order to maximize relational harmony. You all sound like a hoot!

AND a repair person who arrives on time with discount. That is all 10 in 1.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Rebecca

try the ‘pre-dominant worldview assessment’ here is the link… it’s not ‘automated’ in terms of scoring, but if you write down your answers… it will give you a hint as to your predominant worldview

  17. findingninee says:

This winter is pissing me off. I keep telling myself that it’s good it’s so damn cold because maybe more bugs will die and not bother me in the spring the way they have the past few years but it’s wearing thin, that excuse. Sigh. And dude, if work made it on your thankful list this week, maybe you need to get out and do more fun stuff. Like you know, anything. Just saying.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Kristi

yeah, there is that. I am sometimes surprised how simple my life is these days, work and Doctrine and home stuff. I was hoping to do a Doctrine roadtrip this winter, but it is not looking so good.

      • findingninee says:

Aw now I feel all bad and stuff. I was just saying…wait. Um do I need to apologize? Dude. All of our lives are simple. And too damn busy.

        • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

you would have needed to apologize only if I had used a coherent version of the English language to express my thought ….

“I am sometimes surprised how simply my life is these days, work and Doctrine and home stuff.” wtf good thing you are a friend and a clark…otherwise you would have been within your rights to call the State Grammarians… I really, really need to proof more often… lol

  18. Linda Roy says:

I missed the chat this week because my eyes and nose were streaming with a cold. No one wants to see that kind of video streaming, believe me. And when I say I missed it – I missed it. Next week! And winter is pissing me off big time. Enough with the snow & cold already.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Linda

…maybe we need to get someone to remote us into the southern hemisphere for next Friday Night’s vid chat… we’ll still be here in the Eastcold US but it would be fun to see someone with a laptop on the beach… (sorta, might make me mad but there’s an idea).
