TTOT Saturday the Wakefield Doctrine (‘a little advice? ..better go ahead and read the text before viewing the vid, no! nothing bad! just a little…confusing’)

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

I’m writing this rather early, meaning before 9:00am Saturday morning. In fact, I’m starting this Post as I wait the other participants in the Wakefield Doctrine Friday Night Video Chat… which, as of the time of this writing,  7:30 pm,  is more like the Wakefield Doctrine Friday Night Video Soliloquy.  (lol)

(hey! new bloggers, ever think to yourselfs, ‘gee I think it would be a keen hobby to write a blog, but where the heck do you come up with ideas to write about?’  Well, as they say, ‘it’s raining soup’ when it come to ideas, they’re all over the frickin place. Just leave off the filters, avoid thinking about how good the idea/topic might actually be and just start writing. (I am a total follower of this advice…find something that is odd/cool/interesting/exciting/provocative/so-dumb-it-just-might-work and start writing. The real challenge is to ‘write your way out’ (of) wherever it is that you run out of words…. )

As Sy Sperling would say, (about this advice?)  “I’m also a member!”).  Just now, I realized that I need to do a Video TToT of my Wakefield Doctrine Friday… you get the idea…

(lights! camera…. action!!!)

1)

2)

3) book of secret rules

4)

5) videos(?)

6) time travel…grammatically-speaking

7) I’m now writing from Saturday morning and tell you how it turned out (the above 6 items that were written last night before the Vid Chat got going)… it was the best that we’ve had, to date. My definition of ‘best’ is focused on the who and not the what of these chats. the usual suspects: zoe and Denise and Lizzi, of course, but we saw Starr come back and Tamara (from Hawaii) and, in a provocative vid noirs,  beth appeared but had to leave all too soon. The picked up momentum when who do we see (in Charlie Weaver’s square) but Linda Roy (first visit…très cool ). The big surprise was Christine  stopping, always a crowd favorite and having a little trouble with her audio, she did not disappoint. Just as she appeared, who shows up but Jak (and Kate!)… giving us a tour of Paisley Park (er… actually it was Target, but it was in Minnesota!) …and finally to close the evening (like a surprise guest on one of the old variety shows)… who but no other than Jen Kehl!!

8) so I am certainly grateful to everyone for bringing to life this totally cool medium

9) and Una and Phyllis for their patience and forbearance

10) Secret Rule 1.3   done!

be sure to join on the TToT  Sunday Special!!

Ten Things of Thankful

clarkscottroger About clarkscottroger
Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one

Comments

  1. zoe says:

it really was nice to meet all those people last night. Actually have first, I’m almost afraid to hit send

  2. zoe says:

so R 1,2 and 4 really empty or is it my lousy connection? perhaps that’s the vid? Or perhaps that’s just a creative take on the secret rules? Or perhaps you have a way with the virgins that the rest of us don’t?

  3. zoe says:

okay now I understand I got to the vid. I’m trying to think of an answer for you last question in there which was video chat are more fun than….well lots of things I suppose.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

please! any answer will tidy up my little train wreck of a Post… or at best put a certain performance art patina on the thing lol

      • zoe says:

well Clark, it’s a whole ton better than a lot of things like money from a maiden aunt that has certain stipulations connected to it about how you use it or a painful rash or being attacked by a heard of rabid wildebeasts…but in all fairness its a helluva lot better than all of those I wouldn’t say it was better than money without an expectation on it but it’s definitely better than anything chocolate which is saying a lot for a lot of people, and it’s definitely better then a quiet night at home with the book which most nights I really enjoy…
it’s definitely not better than a few things too but I won’t go into them here I do want to say re my previous statement though, that it’s likely that at least 2of the virgins may not be of the Y chrome desiring variety. it’s definitely better than having to go to this party tonight!

        • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

          lol

        • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

          zoe

hey! Put James* on the line!

*joyce of course who else would I mean no I don’t have a realistic appreciation of my writing skill or more pertinently the limitations of my skills in the sense that I seem to be willing to try a joke that is totally dependent on my conveying a sense of the style of writing of the one book by Joyce that I started (but never finished) but I don’t know anyone who (has honestly admitted to this) I should stop now

          • zoe says:

Awwww cmon you got it all over Joyce…we clarks may be a depressed people but we’re not depressING.

            • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

              true

when is your ‘prior engagement’ early or late tonight?

oh yeah! the reviews are in and the Vid Chat is all the talk of the BB&G (the bloppy bloggers group) better plan on extra dip for next Friday!

              • zoe says:

Vid chat is the only thing I expect to be late…this starts early and we will see. Its thunderstorming here so who knows…people may stay home…

                • zoe says:

Yall mentioned this other group before…what is it actually? It may have been explained but I forgot…losy memory sorry.

  4. It definitely appears that the bunch of you were having all too much fun! I wish I had the time to join in, but I am thankful that you provide this forum for a group to get together and enjoy some wonderful dialog. Whether it be via video or blog, it’s the connections we make that count most!

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Josie

totally agree, that is the coolest part of the TToT.. I find that, today for instance, I have to work, but I can ‘stop by’ answer a comment, maybe read a Post and then later catch up all without that sense of ‘oh damn! everyone is done posting…missed the fun’

(although I have trouble staying for the Sunday night activities, lol)

  5. It sucked that I had bad audio last night. Give me a high five though, I tried. LOL
I love that more people are showing up. Very cool. Kind of like a family reunion where everyone is a distant relative you’ve never met before. Before you know it, everyone’s yelling at everyone else trying to get a word in edgewise! How fun is that!!

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

very indeed fun the technology seems to have a whim of it’s own* but even still, fun to watch the party and simply listen in

      *semi-rogerian expression

  6. Yay for so many participants, that’s awesome, Clark! Couldn’t agree more with no. 4! Nothing beats being at home on a cold or otherwise yucky-weather Friday night (or maybe I am just old and boring, because I can dimly remember a time in my life when I gladly risked my life for the chance of partying and Friday nights at home were the worst punishment). Cheers!

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Stephanie

(thank you for that)… even by my standards, this was an odd Post. but as I hope came through on the video, it was fun to do and that is possible, only with the knowledge of a group of people with a similar twist (?!) or, to be reasonable people who are not alarmed by the unusual.

  7. You definitely had quite a turnout last night. Some of my favorite bloggers!

  8. Aiiieeeeee video video video MINUTES OF VIDEO

    My brainspan doesn’t stick!

But I liked what you did until you put your thumb over the microphone.

VERY COOL chat last night – LOVED IT. It’s becoming a ‘thing’ yo! Kudos to you.

  9. Clark, I always write my TToT posts ahead and actually jot down notes to myself on my phone as they occur all week long. So technically I start writing next week’s post on the weekend before as crazy as that sounds. So, you aren’t alone in prewriting for this linkup :)

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Janine

It helps (getting ahead of schedule) but it is the exception rather than the rule. I still found myself at 9am this morning trying to tie up the loose ends!

  10. Would leave a snarky comment but I hope you have a good weekend. Will try to call next weekend: I think I’m going to bed now, haha.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Cyndi

cool (the next weekend) have a good work-school week (and) a good school-school week as well. We’ll look forward to hearing all about the new semester next Saturday!

  11. Sandy Ramsey says:

Again, I missed another vid chat and it sounds like I missed a good one! I will make it one of these days! This was by far the most interesting post I’ve read this weekend. Now every time I read you or hear from you I will be able to hear your voice….I like that :)

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Sandy

truly the coolest thing about this bloghop, is the open invitation to get…er creative. Traditional lists work, but every now and then, it gets to be fun to find a new Rule (in the Book of Secret Rules and just have at it! we will surely see you on one of the vid chats… maybe from St Kitts (via smartphone, of course!)

  12. “Metaphysically disturbing” and the dog barking in the background had me falling over laughing. Sorry – couldn’t help it. Lovely! And anything that includes the book of secret rules/secret book of rules is OK in my book. This was just completely fun!

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Lisa

(I stole that line from the great and amazing ‘Firesign Theatre’ who did ‘comedy’ albums back in the 60s still remembering their bits). yeah, god bless the Secret Book of Rules (and, …and! the Seven GuardVirgins!)

  13. christine says:

That is impressive! Typing, talking, and taping all at the same time!
Vidchats are more fun than…good heavens, plenty of things.
And I have been pronouncing co-hostini wrong all these weeks! I pronounced it to rhyme with martini, yet you ended it with a long i!. I don’t know if I can change at this point.
Hopefully, my microphone will work the next time I join in. Although, I was having hearing you all, and never could see Jak’s tour. There was just a cartoon character where his face should have been. Lizzi says it’s google’s fault.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      christine

no actually I agree with your pronunciation …when it is spelled hostini, but, for reasons that I do not have a clue about, there are times when I like to go with the classical Latin and spell it ‘hostinae’

      (I think).

yeah, love to get you back in the Friday, I kinda don’t mind the technical difficulties, at least not once (when the pop up) as it reminds me of the ‘newness’ of this thing, all figuring things out and all… but having full volume will be cool too

  14. Well Clark, thankful that the vid chats are picking up speed! Will see you on the next one!

  15. Sounds like a unique meeting of minds. Like a quarterly Board Meeting of the Collective Heads of Knuckle. Why do I picture you all wearing black robes and powdered wigs??

  16. bethteliho says:

Provocative vid noir? I like that description! haha. It was fun, and I DID have to leave too early! I saw and chatted with several bloggers-o-awesomeness, but missed all the others that showed up later — BOO. Oh well, there’s always next week. I need to get a dirty joke ready, just in case.

Did Lizzy tell you I did a dance for the GuardVirgins? Of course, I misunderstood the rules and thought it was supposed to be topless dance. I’ve scarred them for life. But I got the rule book so I guess it worked. *shrugs*

  17. froginparis says:

Writing without a filter is on my list this year. Not everything will be posted, but I need to stop denying myself those topics. It sounded like you guys had a great chat. A perfect end to a week.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Rebecca

      We did
      It was
you need to join us next week! (Friday 7:00 pm EST) hangouts on google+ drop us a line (Considerings or the Doctrine)

…and this (the TToT is so a good place to enjoy filterlessness…)

  18. Yvonne says:

So you were time travelling on this post! And as for the video of you taking a video of you… cool. It’s a bit like looking in a mirror and there’s also a mirror behind.

It was great having a video chat with you yesterday. Speaking of time travel – when Concorde used to fly to the USA I always thought it would be great to go and to arrive in New York before you’d left London.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Yvonne

well, it did occur to me, earlier in the day, that for all the talk that we all do, (well some of us) (and maybe not out loud so much as in our heads) about how we would ‘do things differently’ if able to go back in time with the experience of the present, maybe we do in fact do that, but with the ‘change’ there is a retroactive change that obscures our (future) selfs intercession. So, maybe those times (‘boy! I thought you were a goner’ “the doctors are totally astounded’ or ‘how did you pass that exam, you were totally wasted the night before, I was there! no way you should have been able to get such a good score’) when it would have taken a miracle, we do in fact go back and do things, just a little differently!
you know, nothing weird or exotic
      lol

  19. Louise says:

Ah! ClarkScottRoger – or whoever you may be – what an .. odd .. post to comment on from outside the video chat. I love that I got to see you in the video – a rare view for us non-co-hostini ;) I don’t have video capabilities – so it got me thinking too…

And it’s been a rough(er) week, so I (almost) employed one of your super secret rules. But then I found another thankful. So I`ll reserve that for future use.

  20. I feel so very Left Out of the video chat, but it’s my own fault. I want to do it soon, really, I do!

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

We are thinking of you when we do these Friday (and Sunday) vid chats…I would imagine a Friday evening, even with the time zone thing would be a bit challenging…and the Sunday chats are good, but not as much fun (in a fun! sense of the word)… as Friday. the good thing is that you have managed to join us once (the first time is always difficult) so, we’ll send you the invite and if you can stop in, even for just a few minutes.. all the better… we are reachable by your smartphone, of course… so don’t hesitate… I’ll save you a seat
