‘Teacher, Salesman and Machine Operator’ the Wakefield Doctrine (“…of GuardVirgins, attack dogs and violists…we got you covered”)

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

Did you know that there are (only) three jobs in the entire world?

Did you know that (as Cyndi astutely pointed out in yesterday’s Comment) there is an association between worldviews and astronomy (sorta).

Did you know that, (this is for the benefit and to serve as a warning to the Doctrine’s newest, ‘oh, they’re-not-that-weird-once-you-get-to-know-them’ friend, Kate), that once you become capable of distinguishing the three personality types among the people in your own personal world, there really is no turning back?

It’s true.

Teacher, Salesman and Machine Operator.  These are associated with clarks, scotts and rogers  (respectively).  attendre

  1. Teacher. clarks.  those who go through life focused on knowledge, the discovery and understanding (of) and transmission to others. a clark’s manner of persuasion usually takes the form of attempting to get the other person to understand the benefits and advantages they’ll enjoy once they embrace the new way of knowing how to: clean up your room, conjugate a verb, play nice, get along with others, be yourself, seduce that boy, getting out of trouble, not feeling anxiety and get that girl to go to bed with you.  this ‘occupation’ is not always literal, but when it is: female clarks, excel at being elementary grade Teachers and male clarks: high school (history or science) and college level teaching
  2. Salesman. scotts  the true salesperson builds upon your own desire(s) (i.e. hope of gain and the fear of loss), but the ultimate (and intimate) aspect of sales, and therefore, of salesmen, is found in ‘the close’. that is the moment that the scott, sensing what you really do want, steps into your world and takes hold of you (you have your hand out already, whether you can admit it to yourself or not) and says, “hey! come on!! it’ll be fun!!”  “hey!! lets see what happens when we pull this fire alarm“, “aww, you look like you need a hug“,  “I’ve got a surefire way to make some money“, “you’re feeling hurt and scared, screw that lets do something!”, “you’re crying!… that guy over there?! wait here”  a scott will sense the weakness of the other person and, as would any predator,  will take advantage of it…not to hold you captive, but to eat you. this ‘occupation’ is not always literal, but when it is: male scotts can be found selling cars, IPO’s corporate takeovers and get-rich seminars, scottian females: selling you on providing whatever it is they need at the moment.
  3. Machine Operator. rogers. those who live on the basis of the orderliness of the world. because whether it is that way for us clarks or you scotts, thank god we have rogers to take advantage of the magic of nature which includes but is not limited to: accounting (for them 2+2 is frickin always 4), chemistry (have you ever seen that show about the technology of taking crude oil from the ground and turning it into a 1000 different useful products? all they do is build these refineries and put oil in one end and get gas out the other… no way!), engineering (same thing…it has been said that if you asked a scott to build a jet airliner the result would be a plane with five engines, racing stripes, stewardesses wearing bikinis/stewards with chipendale physiques and the pilot’s window would roll down so he could lean out and yell at the plane in front of him for not landing faster) and the judicial system (where that frickin 2+2 still equals 4) the interesting part lies in an overlooked example of this ‘occupation’:   musicians. technically advanced and proficient, including but not limited to symphony orchestra members. they are Machine Operators  (free docTee to the Reader who can convince the rest of us that you know why certain musicians are Machine Operators.) (Here’s a Hint that will also illustrate the ‘everyone does everything’ principle: Jimi Hendrix/Teacher, Al DiMelo/Machine Operator, Brian Johnson/Salesman  got it?  easy peasy)

Everyone good with that? Questions? Comments?

Remember:  ‘everyone does everything at one time or another’  this means that no human action, desire, avocation, inspiration, work ethic, sex act, disability, religious belief or menu choice is exclusively for one  the three personality types. It’s all about how these things manifest within the personal realities/worldviews of  the Outsiders and the Predators and the Herd Members

clarkscottroger About clarkscottroger
Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one

  1. OMG I almost died laughing. That rendition you have up there of the scott building a jet liner – I read that whole part to husby and OMG we could totally see the brother-in-law DOING that! HAHAHA.
And I also read it to him because he studied Industrial Technology and doesn’t want to work in a factory AT ALL – well, jeepers, man, it’s the quintessential rogerian occupation. No WONDER he didn’t like it. HAHA. He’s a gearhead, though. But in true clark style, building and fabricating his jeeps is a creative art form for him. He treats mathematical formulas like elements of artistic creation.
As for the musicians – you don’t have to send me a t-shirt, lol – following the prescribed music and operating within the rules of music are a delight to rogers. They’re the ones who don’t play by ear, but instead follow the rules to become adept at their musical prowess. When I took piano and guitar, my teachers were FOREVER annoyed at me because I HATED to read music and desperately just wanted to play by ear. They tried to make me use a metronome to keep time. I was like..uh…it’ll only work with you (teacher) running the thing because otherwise it’ll gather dust. Please, can’t I just feel my way through this? In the end, I still love playing instruments, but they’re nothing to me like writing or painting.

  2. Oh and HAHAH…I should add: that scott you mentioned up there? Yeah, he’d also have private tours (until they went public) of his jet airliner for friends and family leaving every thirty minutes because he’d HAVE to show his prized possession to everyone…

…and (at great expense) he would make arrangements to build an extra ramp so that when it came time to leave…he could run up the ramp (to the back part of wing ) slide across the wing and run in the door…to the plane (welcomed by his co-pilot who (at great expense to find and train) is very hot and wearing a bikini pilot uniform (I’m thinking something with wings)…

…and don’t forget! this jet has horns! loud horns!

  3. Where are the comments?! Nice post about the basics, with illustrations…..surely someone wants to bring a knife and fork to the table? (only a clark will get that)
No one wants to comment about say, why rogers are so very perfectly fitted for the Judge’s robes. No, I’m not going to come down on rogers. I love my rogers. Heck, one of the nicest rogers out there is Michelle. I’m very appreciative that she is so active in the vid brunches and such. She has been able to enlighten me on more than one occasion. rogers are woefully under represented ’round these parts.

Now that I broached my own topic….I don’t think it’s so much about this thing not being “legitimate” enough. I mean, there are people using the Doctrine pretty darned successfully all over the place. It’s something else. It’s….wait a minute….hold on….we had better take exception to the rogers with a secondary clarklike aspect…..ok…not all of them…but most of them. So what is keeping the rogers away…..

It’s such a simple thing. The institution of the herd/belonging to/being a member of a group that upholds the rules and regulations of how things are “supposed to be/the way they are/how everybody does it” is too strong a force for most rogers. Anything smacking of the unorthodox get kicked to the curb. (in a manner of speaking).
On face value, rogers look like they accept clarks but deep down, no matter the relationship or level of caring, rogers simply cannot abide the “lawlessness” of clarks. For a roger to accept/embrace a clark is to dabble in heresy! lol For the rogers that love us, they will mask their disrespect and couch it in humor or tell you “I was kidding! Lighten up”.

I ask this question seriously, can a roger fully accept, respect and embrace a clark?

I am anticipating the answer for as we know, all the ideas I expressed (as a clark) is a manfestation of my perception of that around me (which is to say, in the worldview/reality of a clark). Which is why there will be rogers out there mortified (really guys? really?) by the thought that a clark could think such things.

Fun, isn’t it? the Doctrine? But as a life tool, it requires a, shall we say, robust stomach. It is a mirror that shows all, if we have the courage to look. It’s a way of looking at ourselves and others that can simply life. Cool.

    • lrconsiderer says:

Damnit – that’s why we should’ve ended up with scotts…and yet the rogers are remarkably caring once they’ve decided that we are a (albeit recalcitrant) herd member…

  4. lrconsiderer says:

Hang on, wait, whut…CLARKS are the seductive ones???

    Not….

    OHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhh!!!

    *penny drops*

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Lizzi

lol… well it depends on your definition of seductive, doesn’t it? (scottian females are recognized masters of seduction)… but since I am a clark, lets put it this way: if seduction were a martial art (as a opposed to a marital art…which it often claims to be but rarely is) then the scott is a prize fighter and the clark is a student of t’ai chi

  5. zoe says:

ironically the Roger I’ve been sharing information with you about, used to be a symphonic musician. I suppose what makes them terrific machine operators is the need to become part of the whole in order to get this piece of music to work as a collective

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      zoe

yes and yes. the thing about ‘machine operators’ is that while they literally are naturals for that kind of work, it is also a representation of their worldview. Our current expression is ‘manifests’. music is music. some people have the talent and drive to learn to create and/or perform music. for each of the three personality types (worldviews) music manifests differently… for a roger music (performance and otherwise) manifests as an opportunity to assert the quantifiable nature of the world (see referential authority) in the performance of, especially but not limited to the herd (aka symphony orchestra).

that is not to say that a roger can’t be a frontman or wildly creative or a solo artist…everyone does everything at one time or another.

here’s an interesting example: early in his career, Jimi Hendrix played rhythm guitar for various bands. (as the story goes) while on tour with the Isley Brothers, the band, in a back room, taking a break between shows heard the audience going crazy, bit they were the only act on the bill. When they went to see what was going on, so the story goes, it’s Jimi on stage alone playing like crazy (all the things that a good rhythm player would never, ever do)… the story does not go much further in describing the events of that evening, but I’m pretty sure he was asked to leave the band.

…but we’re not done with Jimi yet! obviously the best of rhythm guitar players will, by and large, turn out to be rogers. and a person new to the Doctrine would be forgiven for saying, ‘hey Jimi Hendrix now there’s a scott!! total-can’t-take-your-eyes-off-him performer’… and they would be correct in describing Jimi Hendrix on stage as being a scott…but we must always look further and 10 seconds into any of the (small number of) interviews will tell you otherwise.
…so, is this a problem for the Doctrine?
no. no, it is not… what we have here is a clark with a (very) strong secondary scottian aspects with a significant rogerian tertiary.
