TToT XX.V the Wakefield Doctrine ‘wherein we try to get a sneak peak at the future, looking through past-coloured glasses’

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

on-the-waterfront-charley-head-rest

If no one minds, I will continue the ancient, venerated, near-rogerian-in-established-tradition-going-as-far-back-as-last week of doing a pre-Grat List. Maybe, I’ll moderate it a bit and give ya a 10 List of Things of Thankful (gratis) and Things of Hope & Reasonable Optimism (pre-grats). You’ll recognize my pre-grat list items, cause they’re the ones in comic sans.

and so, as we begin the week (and end the weekend) I will offer the following that I am a) grateful for or 2) hopeful about

1) the number of Comments on the Post, which is one of things about the TToT that is so cool, because we have 2 days*, most of us find a way to get to each other’s Posts and Comments and generally mix it up  threadistically-speaking

2) * that Lizzi had the inspiration/foresight to not only pick the weekend, but the courage(insane optimism) to do a 2 day ‘hop. The thing about this TToT is that while all bloghops run for, like a week (until the next one), this hop, for you new Readers is on-going for both days…some join and contribute on Sundays and others cheat by taking advantage of un-fair TimeZone assignment and send theirs in a day early

3) hey Jak! thanks for the first Chrono-Comment! (er…Christine?)  (….booyah!)

4) looking forward (not) to the beginning of the work week to resume work which, in a couple of cases, involved a problem that grew huge, was in the process of (potentially) finding a positive resolution only to have Friday end… should be an exciting day at work this week…

5) having said (#4) am grateful for the work that I do have, it is work that fits my criteria of enjoyable work, i.e. never the same, freedom of movement (through space and time**) and lets me sleep at home at night

6) ** the free use of serious grammatilogical functions like asterixeses and superscript if it weren’t for these little darlings, this list would put me to sleep

7) looking forward to continuing the experiment hinted at last week with the Post based on Cyndi’s Comment, you know the one with the Wakefield Doctrine approved strategy for dealing with workplace conflict, the one we call, ‘love your roger’

8) grateful that I was able to resist the pull of the negative side (of my own), a characteristic found in many clarks, it is not so much a deliberate decent into seeing only the dark side of life, all too often it is (for us) a ‘whiplash’ thing, where we find ourselves   ‘over-balancing’ following a time of extra (and usually, successful) effort to exceed our normal capabilities.

9) that I can imagine taking a weekend off (not really, but it’s the thought that counts)

10) looking forward to the Holiday Season (no!  calm yourself Christine!  lol) I look forward to this time of year for the Big Three and Half  Holidays (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and NEw YEars) they are so much fun from a blog writing point of view!  (especially ThanksG…. can you say rogerian holiday?

Gotta run. Please forgive my occasional misspell and non-consistent sentence and/or grammatical structure above. (no, Dyanne I don’t think ‘hey everyone! looks like clarks alright nothing unusual here” is quite what I mean)  the Wakefield Doctrine Sunday Morning Video Brunch is about to go live…. come join us!!  (google hangout needed)

Ten Things of Thankful

clarkscottroger About clarkscottroger
Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one

Comments

  1. FIRST! Boom!

Glad to see you’re having fun with the scripts.

SO looking forward to the ‘love your roger’ post. I need that.

And see you at the VidBrunch.

  2. Zoe says:

How was brunch there? Mine well…

I think Im falling prey to number 8…my cynicism is back full force I may have overshot optimism a bit…pragmatism seems to work best for me

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      zoe

it was pretty good! Michelle and Lizzi joined in, Michelle gave gave a translation into (simplified) Mandarin of the phrase, ‘clarks live in the future, scotts in the present, rogers in the past’ (but I think I jumbled it up when I copied it off the screen), we also discussed ‘whiplash’ in clarks who are pushing their own limits.
all and all it was a very good brunch

      • Man I wished I could have joined you guys at brunch! Want to know about the “whiplash”!

      • Zoe says:

Emotional whiplash? no wonder my freaking neck is killing me.is there any treatment for that? Youd think a shrink would know…..ah, another cliche comes to life. Physician heal thyself…

        • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

          zoe

worse than that! it (this ’emotional whiplash’) appears to be inherently a part of the worldview of the Outsider! ayiieee but, since (one of) the goal(s) of this Doctrine thang is to allow us to self-improve our-own-selfs, then it will have to be dealt with. Fortunately, one of the emergent paradigms* is that the path to self-development (Doctrine style) is that it is not that we have to learn/acquire/find anything unique and/or outside ourselves, we simply have to develop our secondary and tertiary aspects! pretty simple, isn’t it? (as Cyndi would say, ‘Ha Ha’)… in any event, I get this feeling that maybe I should be putting some warning labels on this Doctrine thing, at least when it comes to clarks grabbing it and running out the door, yelling, “got you now! I ain’t no Outsider!! I know better than that…. er what you starin at…. screw you, this is real, I’m not making it up… no, I don’t think that this is just like a thousand times before… yeah? well fuck you… I know this time will be different, right?”

          • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

lol… maybe I just better set the keyboard down and push back from this computer and maybe go to work or something…

            • zoe says:

“…running out the door, yelling, “got you now! I ain’t no Outsider!! I know better than that…. er what you starin at…. screw you, this is real, I’m not making it up… no, I don’t think that this is just like a thousand times before… yeah? well fuck you… I know this time will be different, right?”

Doing that is what allowed me to be more social in the first place… So many would never say I was a clark from anything but the intellectual aspects… people wrongly identify me as a total insider… WRONG…Nuff said for now… I am already sitting at work waiting for client #1… so trying my best to tend to the whiplash today… :P

Have a great day, Clark…hope all your work crap settles this week. Z

              • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

                who is this really?!!!

                lol
(remember what we say, ‘take notes!’*)

*New Readers? what we mean by that is simply, once you have the basics of this Doctrine thing down, you need to pay attention to the things that you experience (and can simultaneously relate to the Wakefield Doctrine) and bring it back here! this ain’t no ‘Automat of Enlightenment’** you know!

** for Christine and Dyanne and them younger readers.. Automat: really cool restaurant that as kids we all thought was an excellent idea (but not really)

  3. P.J. says:

    I like giraffes.

  4. Kristi says:

Hmmm, your posts this week and last have seemed easier for me to understand, and now you are calling them rogerian. I love Thanksgiving, too. I might be one of those annoying rogers.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Kristi

hold that thought! and remember, while we kid rogers (and scotts) there is no bad or ‘less than’ worldview among the three that the Doctrine proposes. Like most things, there are good qualities (about rogers) and there are not so good qualities… but the real thing of it is, we all have the potential ‘aspect’ of all three types within, so we can’t really call one annoying…at least we can’t without risking being call annoying ourselves!

      • Kristi says:

Sorry if I offended anyone; my comment really was meant to be self-reflective.

        • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

          Kristi

well, duh! (lol I can make that joke, having a tertiary rogerian aspect…) but no, no offense was taken by anyone! the thing about this here Doctrine here is that we have the (potential) qualities of all three personality types (we have within all three worldviews) and while the Doctrine maintains that the world of chasing prey and barking at sudden noises is real for the scotts among us, the rest of us (clarks and rogers), will, if we are honest with ourselves will, if say we are standing at the curb on a street when a car drives by, feel a certain urge to chase it!

  5. christine says:

Asterixeseseses are awesome, yet the word itself is a bit difficult.
Hope your work situation turns out positively.
I can’t even believe you brought up the quadfecta of holidays. Can we not just take them one at a time? I am still trying to gear up for Halloween.
Good for you, coming up with two posts again this week!

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Christine

…not that I am a fan of the holiday, I am kinda glad that they are jammed together, calendaristically-speaking and from a Doctrine post writing perspective… one word: too easy!

yeah, I noticed an increase this week in the ‘doubles’…damn! I grew up just so I could avoid the stress of Sunday night homework/catch-up! but it’s a good thing too, as well the percentage of new participants…a necessity for any growing bloghop (imo)

  6. I really don’t like Halloween. It makes me uncomfortable. But I love Halloween candy….

I enjoy your misuse of the English language, Clark, especially when you use words like “asterixeses”. Rules? We don’t need no stinkin’ rules!

  7. Jak says:

Just for the record I use (in abundance*) both parentheses and Astrix!

I’m also glad this is a 2-day hop, otherwise I may never get to link in. I’ve gotten marginally better than a month ago, so perhaps that is a step in the right direction. Of course, I’m still commenting days later.

Hopefully you find your work week improved and you are able to enjoy a weekend (holiday) off soon. I am always a fan of any and all days off.

And Kudos to avoiding the dark side. I’m not always the best at resisting its pull…

    *This is possibly subjective**
**But I feel my assessment to be accurate
