Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)
The hostini of the bloghop known as Finish The Sentence Friday …that would be Janine and Kate and Stephanie and Kristi have given us the following sentence fragment:
I deserve a medal for the time I…
(though i messed up the ‘set-up’ a bit, following is my contribution)
the Wakefield Doctrine is a way of looking at the world… or more precisely, a way of understanding the world as the other person is experiencing it. If you learn the principles of our personality theory you will never again need to hear yourself say, “How could they do that? I really thought I knew them better than that!”
Aw I wanted to know the bit you forgot at the end! No fair.
But great ‘awarding’ – a very sweet story.
Lizzi
wow! how fast is that… but then I remember you have the secret of Time Zones on your side. Remind me to tell you the rest on Sunday (I haven’t actually listened to myself… I hardly ever do when I do a video Post… lol, well, I am a clark!)
S’aright – long as you treat your video posts the same way we…wait, WHAT! No, er…
Hope you remember :D
(also love the slightly Machiavellian way you can leave a few ‘hooks’ around to winnow out who actually bothered to watch/listen ;) )
Lizzi
why thank you! what a kind thing to say* slightly? you cut me to the quick!
lol and the scotts will think I’m being sarcastic and the rogers will be sure that I am not…
*slightly* as in ‘subtle and sophisticated – no more, no less.
What an utterly sweet story and couldn’t agree with your more that your wife, Phyllis did totally deserve a medal for caring for your dog and being such a wonderful, loving caretaker. I was tearing listening to you speak of this and thank you seriously for sharing this with us and for always linking with us, too. Happy Friday, Clark!! :)
Go Phyllis! Ya’ll deserve a medal for all your good deeds. :) Dang…feeding tubes, etc. Phyllis was the alpha? I think I’m Vinny’s alpha. :)
Cyndi
yeah (with Bella) she was alpha… which, as I said was very cool. you know how it is with dogs, everyone is in the living room, the dog walks into (the room) which human does the dog look to first? or… if you allow the dog in bed with you, when Bella used to settle in for the night, she would get between Phyllis and I and (you know the way that dogs ‘throw themselves to the ground to sleep’?) Bella would do it in such a way as to hit me with her back…pushing me further away to my side of the bed… lol
that is being the alpha human
Haha…Vinny will jump on the couch and “play” with John and try to bite him (playing, though) and then he will wrestle and whatnot. John has to tell him “no” over and over. As soon as I say, “No!” even from across the room, he looks at me and immediately stops and goes and lays down. LOL
Cyndi
sounds like alpha status to me! lol
Lizzi
then, unadulterated ‘thank you’
Any time.
Now this has me in mind of the thing I forgot to say the other day (or, rather, the thing I had wanted to say but turned up here and forgot what it was) it *might* have been about being Machiavellian and manipulative and the manners in which we do it.
But perhaps not.
However, I’m sure there’s a good clarkview in there somewhere on the manipulative side, after all, we know rogers aren’t the only ones to do this.
Lizzi
I agree. (but as we know, ‘everyone does everything at one time or another’) the question might more productively posed: ‘how does the drive to manipulate (our surroundings) manifest for clarks and for scotts and for rogers’.
(to be continued)
I agree 100%- what a lady! And you should totally have your own radio show- your voice is very soothing! Sweet story, Clark…
OMG….can’t stop crying…she totally deserves that medal…what a strong and loving woman…our dog is getting older and I can’t imagine having to find my strength to be strong.
karen
she does… and the thing is we all have that kind of strength, fortunately it is not often that we have to be that way, but it is, in a sense, the price of the amazing thing that (can) happen between people and their animals.
I hosted a puppy (with my own dog love) for a boyfriend of mine overnight…and named her Bella. I think Phyllis totally deserves a medal for Bella. My dog Chief, died in April. I will never be the same. He was a white German Shepherd….
YAY for the feeding tube and 02.
And yeah…this made me so cry…I just did the “perfectly as it could” thing too. Love it. Hugs to you and her…Agree you have a kickass voice.
