the Wakefield Doctrine ‘…a personality theory that’s for you…not them’

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

Real simple.

If, in the course of a day, you find yourself thinking, “what they hell did they mean by that?!”… “boy, I didn’t see that coming!”… “jeez I feel like such a dweeb” …” well, fuck them, I’m only trying to liven things up!” … “no, never again, I don’t care what happens to my career!”… “some friend, she knew what he was like when she told me it would be fun to double date”  …”I give up, I love them too much!” … “screw this, I’ll never lose the weight” …”if I would just stand up to them, I know they would stop”… “she’ll never go out with me” ….”he’ll never go along with that”  “why on earth would they go and say such a mean thing? I really though I knew them better than that”

(then) you need the Wakefield Doctrine (because) it is way of understanding the behavior of the people in our lives, it is another way to see things. the Wakefield Doctrine is a tool, not an answer.

the Wakefield Doctrine is a way of understanding ourselves,  for anyone who has stood in front of the mirror and found themselves getting: annoyed/frustrated/pissed-off/hopeful, the Doctrine offers a way to see the image in a slightly different perspective

the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers) maintains that world you and I and everyone woke up to this morning is, to a certain extent, personal. the world in common is still the same, the politics, the medicine, the elementary schools, the laws of physics, the lines at the ATM on a Friday afternoon… we all pretty much see the same thing. but it is how we feel about these things, these interactions…what they mean to us personally, that is what we mean by personal reality. we call it our worldview. the Wakefield Doctrine is predicated on all of us growing up and developing, living and thriving (or not) in one of three characteristic worldviews: the life of the Outsider (clarks) the world of the Predator (scotts) and the company of the Herd (rogers).  everyone has one pre-dominant worldview…one personal reality  that of the clark or the scott or the roger.  but we all retain the potential to the see the world as the ‘other two’ do…which is why sometimes you may think you are one type but mostly the other. this is called the secondary aspect. (for example: I am a person with a clarklike predominant worldview with a strong secondary scottian aspect and a weak rogerian tertiary. but, I’ll bet you guessed that )

for those who would use the Wakefield Doctrine to allow another view of the world and the people in it, it begins with understanding the characteristic of the three worldviews.

the Wakefield Doctrine is all about learning ‘how a person relates themselves to the world around them’, so, in using the Wakefield Doctrine as a tool,  you are trying to  see the world as the other person is experiencing it.  observe their behavior and infer their worldview. do this successfully and you will know about the other person (or yourself) than they know about themselves (or you thought you knew about yourself).

pretty cool, no?

Seeing how this site is not the easiest thing to navigate, here are some links:  Where the hell did this come from?  clarks (are they really that weird)  scotts (hey! I know one of those) and  rogers (I would like to have the Doctrine’s help here).  Finally, after much cajoling and encouragement from the likes of Jak and Dyanne and Christine and Stephanie and Melanie and Cyndi and Denise and Michelle   ..Considerer  there is a Test for predominant worldview

Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one

the thing is, for us clarks, we are ‘naturally’ in a position to observe (being Outsiders and such) and (most of us) enjoy it. the Doctrine is very much a tool for us that increases what we get out of observing the world…including making it fun!
      specially with our little club*

      * Hey Jak! here’s a movie reference for ya… ‘the Society of Silent Flower Observers of Southern California’

  2. Yes. Very cool. It is amazingly cool. The learning takes some time but truly worth the investment. The payoff, in my opinion, is invaluable. I have saved myself much energy, much misplaced emotion… I’ve gathered energy, new insights…. made new inroads in certain relationships. I’ve been able to develop my own self in ways that are important to me.
Yeah, I’d say the Doctrine’s pretty cool:)

Hey Cyndi! Great After School Special yesterday!!

  3. So I’m toying with a post entitled “clarks. the only ones who can truly hide in plain sight”……
