‘… the Top Ten Ts of T for the 11th Week!’ the Wakefield Doctrine (well, if you must know, for a lot of different reasons!)

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

I am ‘happy’ to have another Post to contribute to the Ten Things of Thankful  bloghop. Created by Considerer with the aid, support, encouragement and participation of Christine and them, this is not your typical bloghop. While there is nothing wrong with the ‘typical’ bloghops (I participate in the Twisted MixTape Tuesday run by Jen (My Skewed View) and Kristi (Finding Ninee)  and Finish The Sentence Friday  Janine ( ‘mommyholic) and Kate (‘bottle of Whine) and Stephanie (‘for Real) and Kristi.

What makes our TToT different is that it is a true ‘weekend blog hop’. By that I simply mean that it starts this morning and ends tomorrow night. If you want to participate you can do so at any time this weekend…and (here’s the difference) people come and read and Comment throughout the weekend, so if you have trouble today (I am a great example, I have to work today, so I’ll get this Post in and read who ever is around…later in the middle of the day, I’ll pop in and see whats going on…then the end of the day and so on). And… Comments? thats a little different here too!  Jump in anywhere we totally believe in cross commenting. So… I think I have put this off as long as I can… my List of Ten Things:

(…yeah, I know!)

(too late to quit now!)

(…lets wrap this up!)

Ok… I had fun doing this…. (did someone just imply that they were….?)

Number 10 I am grateful that I am able to submit the above as my TToT of this Week.

We’re here all weekend (‘try the veal’) Be sure to tip your Waitress… and Comment (‘dammit! Jim  I’m a Wakefield Doctrine writer, not a videographer!)

clarkscottroger About clarkscottroger
Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one

Ah! Clark, you outdid yourself this morning!! Fantastic idea for the thankful list. I’ve only been able to watch the first one so far, but I loved it! Be back later to watch the rest and comment more.

thank you… actually that works out well today is a work day so I will be checking back in around early afternoon…and I say (actual GirlieontheEdge pointed it out) there was a code error on the last vid so that will be fixed when you get back… those last two you will enjoy as it is so not the US Midwest

  2. 8 and 9. Yes, some may be waiting for no.s 8 and 9… where the hell is 8 and 9? LOL

Nice bit of TToT today. Enjoyed it.

  3. Clark, I couldn’t agree more this is a special type of Blog Hop indeed and am truly so thankful for it, because I almost stopped posting altogether on weekends, because of how busy I was, but this gives me the option to check in as when needed. So thank you to you, Lizzi and all the rest of the co-hosts for doing this!! Now definitely enjoy your weekend my friend!!! :)

lol I did cover everything, yes? It’s great to see friends doing new and exciting things…new jobs and schools and such. Trust the new job is doing well (I am trying to think of some form of Wakefield Doctrine career clothing appropriate to your work environment… sort of like Cyndi’s college hoodie but for the office setting? ) let me know your thoughts… not certain if there is a Video Brunch this Sunday, waiting to hear from Michelle… and Denise

spring must be just around the corner for you guys Downover am getting seasonal jealousy.

  5. Katy says:

I loved your videos! Coming from West Wales, in the UK, it was lovely to get a glimpse of the other side of the pond :)
I found it interesting that Clarks have a keen sense of direction, Bur Rogers don’t, as I’m convinced I’m a real mix of the two, as I have no sense of direction whatsoever! Lol
With my maiden name being Rogers, maybe I’m more that than Clark do you think? :)

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Katy

lol Our esteemed leaderess Lizzi shares the same surname so while it would make our lives a bit simpler, we are still tasked with: observing people and inferring their worldview!*
Don’t be too distracted by being a mix of two… that just indicates a significant secondary aspect (which is a good thing, but that can be defered for the moment), the key at the moment is to determine which is your predominant world view**

Have fun! Let me know if you have any questions…

*learn the characterisitcs of the three worldviews, observe the person in a variety of situations, eliminate one (of the three) right away, hold the ‘lens’ of the two remaining worldviews and gp with the one that seems to be most in sync
** try this, which of the following statement seems to make the most sense: a) the world is out there or 2) a place for everything and everything in it’s place let me know which feels righter…lol

  6. Thanks for setting the bar so high…videos? Man…

BTW to comment on your above comment to Katy…a place for everything and everything in it’s place feels more righter…what does that mean in terms of me?

Thanks for the directions (because I’m really poor at them)…

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Kris

we use the word ‘resonate’ a lot around here…that word could be ‘sounds right’ or ‘makes sense’ the goal of these statements is to see which one you respond to and then find out which of the three worldviews the statement is ‘from’

that thing about “I’m here and the world? it’s out there” is the classic clark worldview statement… clarks hear that a think, ‘well, of course!’ rogers and scotts…they’re more, ‘what?! that doesn’t make sense!’

the everything in it’s place and a place for everything is meant to be the same thing, only for rogers… a statement that, for rogers, is so fundamental as to be obvious but most clarks and scotts would shrug and say, ‘yeah..sure whatever’

so these are some (of the many) different ways to figure out a person’s predominate worldview.

      • Katy says:

‘A place for everything, and everything in it’s place’, is part of my whole ethos of life – that’s when it’s not being hijacked by the other part of me that thinks ‘that teetering stack of books has sat there so far, so why move it’! Lol

        • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

          Katy

lol then you might want to try the (lens) of the rogerian worldview… against the clarklike worldview (you know at the optometrist… “ok…this? or this… now is this sharper or less sharper).

the more you see, the more things become visible, though I will say, that ‘finding’ your worldview as a roger can be more difficult than for a clark, perhaps because one of the ‘strengths’ of the rogerian worldview is in (your) consistency you enjoy/thrive/celebrate history and traditions, very slow to change or innovate, unless it (the innovation) is a simple extension of the original… a better mousetrap will still be a mousetrap…

Im rounding sort of late this evening so I missed the gliches and coding errors…I really enjoyed this…great voice! Fun RI accent (not as strong as I would expect…are you from there originally?) ! Being from MA, and rounding all those “r”s I would know….I haven’t been to your area since I was a kid…Ive been to RI as my kiddo lives there but not toward the beach area. It was so nice to see it … thanks for the vids…very fun and creative take on the TToT…

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Zoe

thanks… I have to say, RI has a nice variety of geography, all in a small area.
…no, not originally from here… from Martha’s Vineyard*

yeah, not a bit of that accent…left in like second grade or so

      • zoe says:

I was reading your response to the world view comment…I am such a clark it may be painful…no , Im okay with it…whatever…

  8. christine says:

I’m back! Such a great voice you have! And you really do write the same way you talk! It’s fabulous!

I must reprimand you for your recording while driving…not exactly safe…but I did enjoy what you came up with.

How I would love to see the ocean anytime I wanted, but I could never live in a tourist town. Like you, the tourist traffic would drive me batty.

Love that you used the word “penultimate”. My husband and I have a long-running “joke” about that word.

I have never been to RI, so it is on my list of places to visit. Your videos only make me want to more.

I do believe you are going to be the winner of most creative post this week!

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Christine

thank you! (it is a testimonial to the Wakefield Doctrine) that there are videos… find a clark, any clark and give them a choice between root canal and having their voice recorded (for replay) or picture taken and it will be, ‘which way to the Dentist!’ But there it is…actually a testimony for the efficacy of the Doctrine as a self-improvement tool and the motivating influence of writing the Doctrine blog.

Actually, as a scott you are a very valued member of this relatively tiny number of people who find something fun and enjoyable (and hopefully) useful in our personality theory. By definition, you would have a fairly significant secondary clarklike aspect. As it happens, one of the very major projects we have ongoing is to ‘understand’ the three worldviews… as in, from the inhabitants view. …so you can expect a fair amount of attention ’round here. The very simple (and some would say, simplistic) approach we are taking is to simply watch how a scott (and a roger) would respond to a situation that is, lets say, mostly clarklike. …and vice versa for the others too.

I am working a short list of questions (meant as a survey or indicator of predominant worldview that Jak and Dyanne, among others have been asking for…) to be published this week. If you don’t mind I may send you an advance copy…if you have the time to look at them. (the thing is, one common situation, three multiple choice answers…except each (of the three answers) are written in away that should draw one of the three to choose it… clear? lol

      thanks again

      • christine says:

I would be thrilled to get an advance copy! I knew you were working on it and have been very curious to see this “test”.

        • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

          Christine

Actually it would help for future reference…i.e. one of (each of) the three answers to the respective questions are meant to resonate with scotts, so I will email it over to you, will probably be posting what I have for tomorrow.

  9. How are any of us going to be able to live up to a video list? And end with an ocean view? (I LOVED living by the ocean when I lived in Ventura.) I will make one (okay, if I knew HOW I would) and drive around my town. It would go something like this (imagine the accompanying video): here’s downtown. Note the lack of parking. Here’s where the hospital used to be. Here’s where the houses used to be. Here’s where the trees used to be. Here’s where the high school used to be. Here’s a meth lab. Note all the “all you can eat” buffets. I WANT TO LIVE SOMEPLACE PRETTY LIKE RHODE ISLAND!

Anyway, I’m thankful you didn’t run off the road or plow into anything. It would have made for a fun post if your healthy disregard for the law had not been disregarded by the authorities. . . .

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Dyanne

(“…lets see… disregard=1 negative plus disregard by authorities+ neg 2 but negated by the ‘had not been’ equals….) Hey! yeah! the heck with the law and such, I accept your approval and encouragement, Dyanne!

      lol

(“Police investigating the scene were told by eye witnesses, ‘the driver seemed to be in some sort of animated conversation just before the accident (“Yeah! It was like there was a bunch of people in the car with him” one bystander was quoted shortly after authorities arrived) the accident reconstruction team has stated ‘there was some involvement with a hat that seemed to have obscured the drivers’ vision’. “)

hey Dyanne, don’t make plans for next Sunday morning…9:15 EDT we totally need to get you to join us on the Video Brunch!

  10. OK, brand new here, so I’ll have to figure out the clarkscottroger thing…

Love the small town tour and the ocean view! Ahh…

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Welcome Lisa!

any questions don’t hesitate to ask, otherwise wander around try things out (and on)…(our advice: you can’t break it and your first ‘gut’ guess is probably right)

  11. To cars everywhere. I cannot believe that you didn’t crash while panning. And there was the village. And I am cracking up and also jealous of your cool town that looks like what was in my brain regarding our small town and OMGFFFF* the whole number (was it six?) you saying “I am grateful that I avoided…I won’t say that though = SUCH A CLARK THING!!! or such a me thing? HA) and awesome.

also I am an ass because I fast forwarded a couple. Sorry. Also I do NOT have an innate sense of direction at ALL and FUCK does this mean I’m a ***** Roger? Crap.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Kristi

“…an ass because U fast forwarded a couple…a roger?” no

      lol

The town is kinda cool for the features I tried to portray or illustrate or whatever the correct word is… small, self-contained ‘old section’ without a CVS in sight, a beach area and a train station. The driving while filming is funny, I am more sensitive to having people see me filming than I am about hitting things… now, who’s a clark?

  12. Jak says:

ACK! Eat my heart out?! Haha It’s interesting you used a video as I almost did the same. Went to best buy to get the webcam I was talking about and they were out. Other stores had it in stock, but as I was getting a ride up there specifically for that, I wasn’t about to ask them to drive another 20-30min out of their way to another store, so looks like Thursday may be the day!

About the hop being a weekend ordeal: I was going to ask if a weekend blog hop is active, but a Jak isn’t around, does it really take place?

Unfortunately there are time stamps >..> I almost thought it was the same video, and you maybe just voiced over, but nope you just love breaking the law!

Recruiting is iffy, it’s not always a bad thing being surrounded by so many ladyfolk. Can you believe I’ve yet to watch Wall Street?

Great list! mad Panning skills** I hear you also have skills** keeping off cam yourself :-)

    *Maybe not lol
    ** Or is that skillz?

Jak at The Cryton Chronicles & Dreams in the Shade of Ink

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      Jak

thought you’d get a kick out of the …shout-out (shootout? shootout?!? lol)

as to the synchronicity… that happens (among) us clarks pretty frequently, hell ask Kristi with her and FTSF it’s been, on occasion, hey! what the hell are you looking in the window? Hey, that’s a great prompt for Doctrine Tip #359: You can tell when 2 clarks are talking by the following: a)you’re both clarks so you will be constantly interrupting each other and/or going silent at the same moment or b)you’re a scott and 2 clarks are talking and you can only see them talking, you not only can’t understand what they are talking about, but you feel your own thoughts being pulled out of your head…like a ‘conversational blackhole’ c) you’re a roger and it pisses you off that they (the 2 clarks) seem to not be noticing you so you interrupt one of them and when you have their attention you leave/

yes, yes it is… but you can see the small town from your spot up on the hill, you know there are virtual people doin stuff, you can almost hear what they’re saying but you’re pretty sure they will welcome you when you do get a chance to hitchhike into town

yeah..haven’t seen it in a while… but it’s good to the Douglas family was doing well… loved Darryl in her groundbreaking role as a girl
