(Downspring’s Request Monday), the Wakefield Doctrine “…hey, all you had to do was ask, ya know?”

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

Today’s Post,  which was written in January of 2012,  is meant to offer you, the Reader one single bit of advice, (really, if we are not afraid to be a little technical, rhetorically speaking there are three single bits of advice), that might make a difference at some point in your day today.

clarks: create one (and only one) List of the things you need to do today, (spend no more than 10 minutes on that list) and then….  put the List away. Put it where it will remain until the end of the day. Do not put it among the things you will carry with you throughout the day, do not save a copy (if you are using a computer either print the list and put it away (see above) or, if not printing the list, save it to the desktop on the computer.) Now go out and do everything you think you need to do …just as if it were the only thing on your List.

(At the end of the day you may look at the list and write us a Comment).

scotts: make one List of the things you think that other people ( your family, your boss, your workers) would be happy to see you do today. Take that List with you today. Check it constantly. When you see the opportunity to do anything on that List, do it. And, (this is important), do not tell anyone about your List or about the things you have done.

(At the end of the day you may tear up the List and write us a Comment).

rogers: make one List today of the things that you know you have to do, but really hate the thought of doing. Give this List to whoever is currently the ‘most’ Significant Other in your life. In the course of the day, contact this person and ask them to read you the List. Try to do at least one of the things that this person reads to you. Keep the List to yourself (and your significant other) do not tell anyone else.

(At the end of the day, ask your Significant Other if there is anything left on the list….and write us a Comment).

There it is,  from the Wakefield Doctrine to you.  A better day….

Weekend Round up: We enjoyed two very fun and helpful and productive and enlightening Saturday Night Drive and Video Brunches. (With Cyndi and Denise …with Michelle and with Considerer). You should put it on your schedule for next weekend, right now.

In the Department of Credit of Good Things Department:  thanks go out to Considerer. Her suggestions/prompting/urging/encouragement/support-in-the-face-of-fear-of-new/risks to drop the moderation on Comments lead to my discovery (delightfully embolden by the sense of innovation and risk taking, I discovered that the much desired, sought-after and good-to-have-for-Comments  ‘nesting capability’ for Comments was there all along. Let that be a lesson to all of us!)

clarkscottroger About clarkscottroger
Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one

    Oh BOOM! Thank you :)

      @Considerer

      …god knows what I have ‘back there’ in the archives, did only slight ‘tune up’ on the grammar and such.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      holy shit! there was a ‘nesting capability’ in the dashboard all this time!

      tt C,

  2. Cyndi says:

    Nesting capability? Whaaa? I’m confused, lol.
    That’s nothing new. I’m perpetually confused because I’m always trying to learn something new. I’m addicted to learning by golly.
    As for the call in: You and Denise MUST watch Spaceballs. I can totally see you both enjoying it. LOL

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      @Cyndi

      testing…nesting…comments… is this thing on?
      lol this should allow easy reply and (for the Reader easy to spot the Reply and to the bystander easy interuptory possibility!

  3. Love the idea of lists. Thanks for sharing. Hope you’re having a great Monday.

      @G Madison

      …glad you liked it. It’s funny how some things help (people) see how to use the Doctrine better than others.

  4. Awww.Homework! I knew this was coming!

  5. Considerer says:

    ‘Tis the end of my day. And my list (which went VERY rapidly to the bottom of the page) was put in a cupboard and LEFT there.

    Getting it out now…

    (do I need to say what was on it? hope not – there were 9 items)

    All bar one have been achieved at this stage. The last is writing a blog post for tomorrow.

    One item was achieved by asking Husby to do it, rather than doing it myself, but it got done nonetheless.

    So….now what?

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      @Considerer

      no, you do not need to say what was on the list, it being your list, the items relate to you and only you (and H.), however! we would benefit from your experience with the list…as a clark

      Irrespective of the items comprising the lists that were created today, in response to our little exercise, a list would have been experienced differently by each of the three (we would say that the list would have manifested in a way that is different for the clarks and the scotts and the rogers who partook in the exercise), ‘different’ in a manner that would be distinguishable between all three. of even greater value: the Doctrine would be able to tell everyone/anyone how the recipient (the listee-er ) would have related to it.

      We will wait for Michelle’s report (representin’ the orderly State of roger…lol)

      Any scotts out there do this thing today?

  6. I like that advice about the lists! I always get into the habit of putting way too much stuff on my to-do list and then I get so annoyed when I don’t get to it all. Now I’m going to try slim it down a touch. Missed the brunch…sorry, damn time zones! Must put on the calendar. Have a great day!

  7. Jak says:

    Hey, you found it! I know you said you had to dig :) The test seems to require you know (or suspect to know) what your predominant world view is? As a procrastinator I feel like the first allows for the best opportunity to “tune it out” lol

    Thank god for “nesting” that is so much worlds better!
