Monday the Wakefield Doctrine ( you want a quick and easy way to know if you are a clark or a scott or a roger?)

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

please, god! have them read about me...

The Wakefield Doctrine is

  • a way of looking at the behavior of the people in our lives
  • a perspective on the world we find ourselves in
  • a fun way to meet strange and new people

Busy weekend. Quick re-cap. Bullet-points (slight return).

  • suggestion that we develop a ‘test’, a screening a survey that will allow a person to know what their predominant worldview is (and which if any is their secondary and tertiary aspects)
  • progress and confirmation on the value of Video Brunches…had 2, enjoyed both still don’t frickin know how to schedule and start a ‘hangout’ for a group of people
  • Cyndi is in last third of her current session of ‘going as a student to the school there’  everyone send some virtual encouragement (appropriate to gender and worldview) to her
  • Considerer’s weekend virtual village bloghop continues to thrive and grow   (beware of the rogerian tendency to ‘rein in’  innovation and growth)
  • enough of the bullet points

The Wakefield Doctrine is a personality theory predicated on the notion that we all live our lives in what can best be termed personal realties. The personality system of the Wakefield Doctrine is simply a perspective on behavior and personality as  a product of living in one of three characteristic personal realities (worldviews). If you grow up (from say age 3 or so) and develop in the worldview of the Outsider, you will exhibit coping strategies, attitudes, hopes and dreams that all reflect being the person who does not ‘belong’. …you would be a clark, as such you would conceptualize the world and all the people and places and things as being ‘out there’ while you stand where you are hoping to not being singled out and at the same time fearful of being forever left behind. The Wakefield Doctrine holds that were you to grow up with/in the predominant worldview of the Predator, you will would act first and think second, your emotional life would be un-bounded and tied to present moment, you, as a ‘Predator’ would feel tenderness for the young and bathe in the passion of the hunt, you would kill (metaphorically) without remorse but you would defend your family and friends with your life, the scottian personality type results in burnout, not fade out, you would have great fun but have trouble explaining why you do, such is the life of a scott. Finally (not that any of this is finalized), a life as a child growing up in the world of the Herd, not only empowers you to connect with anyone and everyone you encounter (except for those not of the  Herd) but if you are a roger, because you know that there are Rules (and they are not limitations) and you know that the world is a quantifiable place (and offers reliability and consistent to those who apply themselves) you seek the history and traditions that are all around you (knowing that your highest purpose is to perpetuate these traditions and knowledge).

The Wakefield Doctrine says: we are all born with the capacity to experience the world in one of these three ways, one (of these) becomes our predominant worldview, our reality. (It says), we never lose the potential to experience the world as do ‘the other two’. Learn the characteristics of the three worldviews, observe the behavior of the people in your life and correctly infer their predominant worldview and you will know more about them than they know about themselves.
The Wakefield Doctrine is a tool, not an answer.

The point of it all is to better understand how we (or the other person) ‘relates themselves to the world around them’.

So.

Sure you want a test?  We got your test…right here, hold on!! gots to go rummaging through the last 4 years of Posts to find the 2 or 3 efforts to present a handy dandy personality survey.   We will also get our shit together and have a Video Brunch to co-co-coincide with next weekend’s TTofT bloghop  so y’all better get to work installing google+ and hangouts so you can be ready. A splendid time is guaranteed for all.

Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one

  1. Considerer says:

    I’m liking this test idea :) Awaiting developments with interest :)

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      @Considerer

      …hey lady, sorry you’re a DownSpring now, you will be doing more on this than awaiting developments lol ( I will be sending whatever I can put together from previous Posts …to the group by email: you Cyndi Denise Michelle Kristi (and anyone else you think have sufficient grounding in the Doctrine to be of use) and then we will roll out a ‘version .05’ ya know?

  2. Amy says:

    I think a test is a great idea- though I don’t need one for myself, being so clearly a Clark! I still need to figure out my secondary type I suppose. The rogerian view makes me cringe! And I don’t feel like there could be much “Scott” around here!

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      @Amy

      lol Hey! everyone see what Amy has done here? Amy has validated an aspect of the Doctrine*, (thank you! Amy)

      * for the rest of you… what Amy has done is not only illustrate a significant factor in the worldview of clarks, but she has, (in a manner that I suspect is a technique that she employs in her home schooling work), cast light on the characteristics of the other two, by inference (relative to the stated value of a test).

  3. Those are the Rogers…..reliability within the range of explosive emotion. Thanks, Clark!

  4. Hmmm… Yet another way of defining the masses…

    Clark, there’s a reason that I live in the mountains of Montana. It’s not nearly as difficult for us to quantify or even (gasp!) ostracize the masses…

    We only have TWO categories. US and THEM.

    You can identify US, as we drive ten year old “pick-em-ups” complete with rifle racks filled with assorted ARs and high capacity shotguns. The bumpers and bash bars of said transportation vehicles are free of Obama and liberal adornment, instead plastered with slogans like; “Welcome TOURISTS! Spend your vacation money in our fine establishments and then… go the hell home.” Our truck windows bear further definition of our “dreams and goals” with slogans like “Got Ammo?” and “Dear Terrorists: Yes, Of course we’re Religious. We can introduce you to Gawd, too… at over 2000 feet per second.”

    The “THEM” among us are also easily identified as they wear stripes with plaid, they wear fancy sandals or shoes that actually have a pocket for each TOE instead of sturdy footwear like camo-clad steel toed hiking boots , and their cars and SUVs are plastered with Obama decals and scars from multiple keyings and “free-range” shopping cart dents…

    We easily recognize each other and use traditional greetings to welcome these miscreants; “You ain’t from around here, are ya, boy?”

    Lesson Two to follow… LOL!

    Stay tuned.

      @Renaissanceronin

      lol I recognise that I am, indeed, bringing the Doctrine into what one might call a ‘crowded field’, the more the merrier, non?

      you know the real, ‘beauty part’ of the Wakefield Doctrine, especially in the context that you be presenting our reahershiphood with, is found in 2 of our favorite sayings,
      a) “…this Doctrine is for you, not for them’ and
      2) “…everyone does everything, at one time or another”

      “bring ’em on! mon frère”

  5. Considerer says:

    Hmmmm this could be interesting – Clark vs Redneck (pardon me – Renaissance)

    I can do no better than quote the Beach Boys here – “The pen is mightier than the sword, but no match for a gun”

    I am happy to be involved in this ‘test’ creating thing.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      @Considerer

      Ronin is actually an old Friend of the Doctrine (he goes back to the first year, as a Guest Heckler!) But you raise a very interesting question, one that nicely dovetails with his Comment and my subsequent Reply, to wit:

      A Redneck:
      clark
      scott
      roger

      the scott is way easy, the roger is nearly as easy (even more so, if you go for rogerian woman-like Redneck) now a clarklike Redneck now this is an interesting question…a virtual LHC of worldviews and such….anyone up for a description of a clarklike Redneck?

  6. Considerer says:

    *waves hand frantically* Me! Oh me! Oh pick me!

    “A clarklike Redneck will be found examinin the bones of fresh kills for interestin’ bits of gristle, will be convincing his scottian buddies that it’s probably *fine* to float a stereo in the pool on polystyrene (so he can see what happens if it falls in) and in later years be found rockin’ on his porch, cradling his shotgun and reminiscin about the good ole days”*

    *Yes, I know it’s an offensive stereotype**
    **No I don’t care.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      @Considerer

      lol !ery good! now please, Miss Considerer, let your other little classmates have a chance.

      Anyone want to describe the female clark redneck?

  7. I read the phone call invite too late! Please count me in for the next one. That is if Slu slacks again. ;)

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      @Tracy

      deal… I’ll remind everyone by Friday, it is fun and interesting… in a Doctrine sort of way!

  8. Jen says:

    You know you can create a test in google docs, it will even tabulate it for you. I’d be all for it, tests are fun!

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      @Jen

      “tests are fun” spoken like a true clark! I will look into that, if you see a simple format <25 questions mixed answers (multiple choice and True and False) and would send me the link, that would be great. Now that you mention that (test format) I suspect I would do well to define the outcome and that way the questions may become more obvious.

      thank you Jen... in appreciation I will give you the first choice of which character in a scene from Pulp Fiction that I am using (for the TMTT) that you want to be... Mia Wallace or Jody (Lance's girlfriend) the scene that involved adrenaline hypo and mutiple piercings... (have I given too much away?)

  9. Jak says:

    I can’t recall if this is where I left off now (there was another post I attempted all morning to post a reply to talking about blog hops/blog content which I can no longer find, but I noticed I’d not commented.

    I like the idea of a test, as we have very briefly touched on throughout comments (mostly TToT related). It would be interesting, and a helpful application for individuals to better understand… well… possibly themselves. Sometimes it’s hard to think of how you may actually relate yourself to the world around you, without some sort of guidance, whether they be examples or questions/answers (much like the ones provided above).

    Was your blog down today?

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      @Jak

      Yeah I believe it was down for part of the day…no doubt the server, though bluehost has been pretty reliable

      as the test… it will help to a certain degree, if ever I finished compiling past efforts at a screening test.

      but the Doctrine is, at it’s heart a personal subjective tool… and I advise and cajole everyone to go with your gut or guess or whatever makes sense, cause you can’t break it! and …and! you can’t even do it wrong! If you are a clark and you decide you are a scott… ok! good luck! lol… as long as you read about and learn the nature of the three worldviews, you will become more and more adept at picking the one to test and (most likely) it being the one that is a ‘fit’
      yeah..will catch up with you ‘in town’ at the TToT
