the Wakefield Doctrine a personality theory (use only as directed; stop using immediately if the following feelings and thoughts occur: peace, tranquility and self-confidence)

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers)

The Wakefield Doctrine (offers) a way of understanding the people in our lives.

The Wakefield Doctrine is a perspective on the behavior of people in our lives.

The Wakefield Doctrine is a fun and funny take on how people act, at home, in school, at work and everywhere in our lives.

…so you got to be asking yourself, at this stage,  ‘what the hell does he mean  “in our lives” ‘   and  “...who said it is any of his damn business!”  and finally   “…what gives the Wakefield Doctrine any right to say anything about “my lives“?”

Valid Points!  But first, 2 caveats about our theory of personality: the Wakefield Doctrine is an incredibly unique, useful and fun way to observe the human condition, offering a skewed perspective that is all the more insightful for being so ‘off-center’  however,

  1. if you are one of those people for whom the words, ‘but first allow me to present some supporting empirical data‘  sounds like  ‘hey, lets not go out tonight, I brought something special for us…no! leave the phone off the hook‘  then you will not be getting a lot from the Wakefield Doctrine.

And while, many of us have the required intellectual… ambition to take an idea and see what it can do, just for the sheer fun of it,

  1. if you are one of those people for whom the phrases:  ‘endorsed by‘,  or the reassuring  ‘fully reviewed and approved by‘ or the safe,  ‘read and admired by the most popular blog writers in the country‘  hold the same attraction as “the first setting is for initial relaxation, use fully‘ or  ‘for full flavor add an extra half tsp‘ or even ‘persist more than 4 hours, see a doctor‘   holds for the rest of us, let me save you some trouble, the Wakefield Doctrine is not for you.

However, if you are insatiable when you find a new idea, if you can’t resist taking the side road, instead of the Interstate lets take a look at that ‘lives of yours’.

We all live in what we call a predominant worldview, (which is) the characteristic way that we relate ourselves to the world and the people and everything we do. There are three (worldviews) that correspond to the three personality types of the Doctrine, i.e. clarks, scotts and rogers. We are all born with the capability of all three, but pick one at an early age and we ‘grow up and develop’ in one of these three worldviews:

the worldview of the Outsider (clarks): we know that we are different, we suspect that everyone else knows that we are different and we are pretty certain that if we think and learn and watch and work real hard, we will discover the thing that we seemed to have missed, the thing that would allow us to be ‘a part of’  (in the meantime) we are creative, self-critical, eternally optimistic and unforgiving of ourselves, giving of our selves to family and friends to an extreme and yet unable to accept the same in return, at least in the way that others seem to show it

the relating to the world as a Predator (scotts): no time to sit and think, life is meant to be lived, the world is exciting and it is threatening, the best course of action is simply to act, you don’t so much know what you want from life and people as you feel it, you are impetuous and mercurial and you will defend your friends and family to the death and if there are people around and they are not a threat, then they are there to watch you… you don’t care if people disapprove of you as long as you are not ignored, life is meant to be lived end of story

the world in which you are a Member of the Herd (rogers): life makes sense, anyone who suggests that it doesn’t is dangerous, fitting in is good, you don’t worry about ‘belonging’ anymore than you wake up hoping that the sun rises in the East or that ‘up is up and down is down’ life is nearly perfect, provided you work hard to understand the Rules and help others appreciate them, you know that god lives in the details and he has (somehow) asked you to help let everyone know that, you are impatient with those who do not understand what everyone understands and you enjoy the aggressive ones who try to make your life more difficult, it is a tribute to your tenacity that they will try to get you to stray from your self-appointed task in life… life is perfect  in the center.

That should hold you…. about those ‘lives’?  we’ll get back to them tomorrow.

clarkscottroger About clarkscottroger
Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one

      @Jennifer

      totally my favorite these days…amazing how many songs you recognize but you can’t remember hearing them on the radio (or at least they didn’t make the regular playlists)

  2. Thanks for catching us all up a bit just in case. I hope you are feeling better and thinking of you!! :)

      @Janine

      Thank you… am feeling better, trying to catch up with the blog-reading and -commenting!! lol

  3. Molly Molly M. says:

    I want to offer another side to the clark: Knowing you are different, but not really caring. Knowing you don’t fit with the ‘herd’ and not wanting to, because of what it would require giving up.

    I have been an outsider as long as I can remember — causing a disturbance most everywhere I go, if I choose to speak up. For the most part, I’ve understood the ‘rules’, but rarely felt a need or want to conform to them.

      @Molly

      you remain so a part of the dynamic of learning about the Doctrine, the insights and other things that we (need) to understand more and more, in fact today’s Post is part of a return to that basic, ‘what the hell is: a clark a scott a roger POst writings keep digging into your our little access to the world of rogers… granted you have only a secondary but I would choose to believe that you can get closer, faster to the actual reality of the worldview (of rogers) than those of us clark with a secondary scottian aspect

  4. Cyndi says:

    OMG, the more I read about clarks, I think I could classify myself as the Clark Poster Child. I swear to god you just reach into my brain and then slap it onto a post. LOL. You keep on keepin’ on!

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      @Cyndi

      We laugh in the understanding that, even though a lot of people read the Doctrine and ‘get’ what we are saying… you are in the category of those of us who are able to ‘think in Doctrine’, not so much that you are a clark, but even clarks needs something…. extra/special to really get it, like Molly and Clairepeek and Nell Rose all those who immediately get what we are saying of course, we will be looking to you to bring us anything that you see here or out there that will advance our ability to express the Doctrine so that ‘normal’ people can get it lol (you know what I mean)

  5. Cyndi says:

    PS – I think Molly up there is a clark with a strong scott aspect. :) I think I am a clark with a strong roger aspect…but I agree: I want to belong, but I will never because I won’t give up how I think so that I can conform. :)

  6. Who knew I had so much in common with being a Scott?! In this description anyway :) I continue to enjoy reading your posts on these personalities – how you get the inspiration to creatively incorporate them every day, I’ll never know – but you can see it’s a passion, and it shows in your writing!
