the Wakefield Doctrine and the three personality types….everything’s coming up Monday!

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory, no! the story…no, no no! it’s more a fable to illustrate the metaphor for the worldview to account for personality types commonly referred to as clarks, scotts and rogers !)

In the week up-coming, faithful Readers of the Wakefield Doctrine will discover the following:

  • news of the doings of the DownSprings and FOTDs
  • ideas that will result, upon integration into your personal reality, an altered perception of the relationship you most take for granted
  • the next Chapter in the Story that Stacy and DS#1 both won (nearly free) Wakefield Doctrine DocTees for suggesting the superior story Titles (to)
  • a momentary feeling of concern, something that you cannot put your finger on but disturbing nevertheless, about something in this list,
  • 87% of you will not succeed in immediately identifying the source of this concern and dismiss it as ‘another one of those weird Doctrine blog things’
  • …the remaining 13%  of Readers will not give up until they track it down, identify it and firmly resolve to be the exception to the rule (that is being implied)
  • there will be 7 new Readers, one of them will be named Doreen and she will be a clark and the Doctrine will be an immediate help in her life
  • there will be 3 Readers who, enjoying the whole idea of the Wakefield Doctrine and especially the descriptions of the three personality types, will decide to tell a friend
  • one Reader, (of these three), will tell a friend and be glad that they did, now they, (these two friends), have more fun at the mall and at school (in the cafeteria) playing ‘name the personality type’
  • one Reader will start to tell one friend and back off, sensing something wrong or inappropriate or negative but later the same day, another co-worker will stop by and say, “…so you like those personality type websites too, huh?”
  • one Reader will tell the person that they are sure will be most appreciative to hear about something so cool and the person they tell seems to like it, but later that day, another person, someone who was not in on the initial conversation, says something about ‘secret worlds’ and laughs
  • one ( of our three Readers) will be smiling at this point, certain that they will be the Reader that  is described in the bullet point which has the first ‘(of these three)’  descriptors …they will be right
  • one  ( of our three Readers) will be smiling at this point, certain the Reader smiling in the previous entry is mistaken and that it is they who will be happiest, they will be wrong
  • the last of our three Readers will only be reading this (and actually paying attention) after going out and trying to tell someone about the Wakefield Doctrine.. they are a clark and will do alright, provided they don’t give up too soon

So that should get our week started. Expect the next Installment (or Chapter or whatever the hell we should call) the continuation of our story about the Christmas Party at the Calypso Club with the 3 personality types and them….

Hey! here’s an idea!  You know how, even though you have a totally full schedule of posts and articles and all to write and how even though you have to really try hard, it is still satisfying to see your thoughts in ‘print’?  …and you know how, while you are in the middle of trying to get serious work done, you come across something, a Post where you can think of a really good Comment, how writing that is somehow relaxing and fun (the way all your writing used to be?). Try this on for size:

Adopt a character. Create a Character for the Party.  All done by way of Comments, nothing formal, no outlines and ‘back story’ or anything that involves a serious effort. As you read about the Party at the Calypso ( and Sam and Alex and Mel and the others) and you think of something that they might do or say, just write it in a Comment. No pressure (we might not be able to work it into the story) but think of how much fun it will be. Sort of ‘remote control characters’!  You could even suggest a new character! The only real requirement is that it be semi-reasonable to the context of the story.  Try it!

Heres an old song that got stuck  in my damn head this weekend…long story to it, ask me in 3 months

Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one

  1. Downspring#1 says:

    Gee Clark, thanks for directing the time train to my front door this morning. Just what I needed. LOL
    Yo clarks! Lesson of the day: do not, under any circumstances, board that train. The time train represents something completely different to clarks than it does to rogers. (future test question-ette).
    We all pretty much know that for scotts, they’ll yell Yippee! Let me drive that sucker!! Betcha never seen a locomotive on it’s rails!”

  2. Clark, my character would be a mother who works full-tme and juggles it all. I mean women who are mothers do exist in the workplace and would love to see how this could play out in your story :) :)

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      @Janine

      ok, can see that, two more questions:
      what is her name
      what does she do for a living? (not limited to the Company that our main characters work at, but! must be a connection to the event… no matter how, far-fetched…. you know, maybe your character is at the moment (where we left off) is stepping gingerly into the opening at the top of the giant birthday cake that Jimmie ordered… and as she crouches she is trying to remember what time she told the baby-sitter that she would be home, while (also) wondering if she could take some of the cake (the center of which she is in) home for her kids)

      You know, a little raison d’etre lol I like it!

  3. Good questions and maybe would could name her Jen or Jenni. As for what she does, maybe she is the administrative assistant to the CEO or someone else high up in the company. Not sure, but you take creative license on the rest :) :)

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      @Janine

      so, ‘no’ on the cake-out-of-jumping?* lol I believe we are short one roger (of the female persuasion) but she may need to be the Office Admin (in charge of everything she can claim charge over)…
      thanks!

      *not that there is anything wrong with people who earn an honest living as ceremonial-pastry-components (sometimes referred to pop-ups with icing)

  4. Hmmm…I’m going to go with a character called Violet. She’s in her final year of high school. You can decide if she’s popular, a nerd, a geek, a wannabe, a loner, etc. Great idea!

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      @Melanie

      I like the name, the qualities welll you’re thinking, clark right? lol One suggestion? Do you mind if I have her ‘stand in’ for the young woman that Mel (our roger) is talking to at the end of the last episode?
      She is apparently a clarklike female* and so already fits your description except for the being still in high school ( I could figure out a ‘study scenario for her, but we would have to wait until ‘next Monday’ before we could meet her, the Calypso Club is hardly a place for a High School senior (even if she insists that she ‘is so more mature than like anyone in her class’)

  5. Stacy Harris says:

    My Character is Meg… she is a psychopath. I only tell you that because I think you should fear for your life. You never know what she will do next! ;)

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      @Stacy

      cake!! the birthday cake!! put her in the damn birthday cake!! ok Stacy, the audience has spoken, and everyone knows, here at the Calypso Club every birthday cake needs a scantily clad (surprise) decoration, no?

      ( “Meg? listen! we know you just started at here at the Club…no! we love the way you carry the trays of canapes, but just for tonight we really need your help. You will? Great lets go back into the kichen… about your clothes….”)

  6. Emily says:

    How about a guy named something like Jake who wants to sleep with all t he single and married women in the office…you know, the office sleazeball – every office and every party needs one of those, right?

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      @Emily

      good thought, course we might not catch sight of him, this being the beginning of the Party. At no small risk, I will leave it to Readers and (you people at the BB group to figure out what’s delaying him…) but I think he might be instructive/useful to our narrative lol

      ‘Jake’ Emily is he the non-stop talker, bad-boy guy or is he the smooth talking, oh-so-sincere-the-way-that-he-seems-to hang-on-your-every-word type? lol Quick Doctrine Lesson: one would be a scott and one would the roger, I know that you know which is which.

  7. Cyndi says:

    Ummm….my character could be an evil genius (like Jack Frost in the movie Santa Clause 2…sorry…just watched it) and he pretends to be nice, but oh, no, he’s evil! LOLOL.
    Interesting post!

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      @Cyndi

      Interesting thought… I think you might be describing a roger… lol hey! rogers just kidding! you know we loves ya

      I enjoyed today’s post myself! It was one of those hit the bullet points and they will come…

  8. Jennifer says:

    Hey if I can’t drive the train then I guess I’ll jump out of the cake. Thankfully my *good* clothes won’t get ruined if you know what I mean. Oh, by the way, my name is Zoey.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      @Jennifer

      You might have to get in line for cake surprise/performance artist for some reason this is a fairly popular career choice among scottian female fictional characters… I think Stacy has Meg angling for the post… lol
      stay tuned yo

  9. Jennifer says:

    @Clark

    WTF? Me stand in line??! lol

    Gotta stress the sexual promiscuity of “Meg”

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      @Jennifer

      She’s only supposed to jump out of the cake…now granted the birthday boy is just a bit of a scott, we might see dome action in that regards… but lets all keep in mind that this is all in the interest of making the personality types of the Wakefield Doctrine more easily recognizable in the real world…lol

  10. Jennifer says:

    Umm… OK

    BTW, have you run into any psychopaths lately? I could’ve sworn I saw one just the other day.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      @Jennifer

      there seems to be no shortage these days, must be an end-of-the-world thing, lol

  11. Jennifer says:

    Yes, but were you able to *spot* them and know without talking to them for a bit? lol

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      @Jennifer

      seeing clarks becomes easy once you know how to look for them, unlike spotting scotts (easy due to them being in constant motion) or the rogers which is not hard either becaues there just so damn many of them (rogers)…clarks on the other hand, do require more effort. They will blend into the environemnt chameleon-like* and sometimes is just a matter of flushing them out other times, it takes patience and a very keen eye.

      *funny about the ‘chameleon thing’ this ‘defense through taking on protective coloration’ strategy is not exclusively to one of the form. clarks attempt to hide by looking like the environment and rogers attempt to look like the other people in the area

  12. Jennifer says:

    @Clark

    As you know, I am fully aware of the characteristics you mentioned above.

    But you dodged or misunderstood the intent of my question. Of course scotts are easy to spot. BUT can you tell they’re psychopaths without talking to them?

    OK I’ll stop now.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      @Jennifer

      oh course I can! (at least to the extent that we do the hyperbolic psychopath label) the character of what we often refer to as the psychopathic personality is more akin to scotts (than to clarks or rogers), at least if we are willing to say that what makes a psychopath what they are is the tendency towards a lack of impulse control in combination with an inability to identify with other people, in the basic sense of ‘people like me’

      Or something like that

  13. Jennifer says:

    OK forget it. Let’s drop the whole thing. You’re starting to piss me off… lol

  14. Downspring#1 says:

    I’m late to the party and I’m drunk and oh, I wasn’t invited…..how about we have a coupla party crashers. They will be the catalysts for us to witness how our company CSR’s react to what ensues……

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

      (Security!! could we get some security over here? an Editor, maybe? ok!! we’ll settle for a hard-working, ambitious proof-reader!!* the party is getting out of control and we haven’t gotten back to it yet!! lol)

      *proof-reader one of (a) clarks dream jobs**

      ** unfortunately for the wrong reasons!

  15. Downspring#1 says:

    No, no we haven’t and has anyone told you “FUCK YOU” yet today? No? That’s too bad. LOL
