the Wakefield Doctrine (we have a saying around here, ‘this Wakefield Doctrine is for you, not for them’)

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine (the theory that insight into the behavior of others is possible by inferring the character of the personal reality of the person you are trying to understand)

FOTD ‘Mel” stylin in a DocTee

You want to hear something funny?1  There was a time, in the not too distant past, when the ‘Great Challenge’ and ‘Key to Success and Attracting Readers’  for the Wakefield Doctrine blog was thought to be, “can I write as a roger (would)…or as (would) a scott?”

Whatever.

Thanks to all you Readers for contributing to the First Annual, ‘Now, they-did-say-this-was-a-Contest-and-that-there-would-be-a-prize-in it-for-me-if-I-answered-the-question-correctly… didn’t they? Contest.
Y’all done good! Not only did you answer the Question in ways that brought forth and illustrated a key concept of the Wakefield Doctrine and demonstrate the best way to use the Doctrine to realize a direct benefit (in understanding others) but, you also gave lie to the false premise that the only way to capture a mass audience is to employ the communication style that is most representative of the masses.

cool

This being Friday and (my having) written a Post every day this week, we gonna keep it brief(er) today.

Thanks to our new (and ridiculously quick on ‘getting the Doctrine‘ ) Readers and FOTDs for participating.
Hey, guys I was serious about the DocTee (as prizes) and will send them5 but we are a little weird about privacy around here. So, in a Comment, let me know if I can contact you at the email addresses that show when I go to moderate/approve your Comments, you know for shipping instructions and such. (yeah, I’m a clark  I get that a lot)

Special mention-ation to Cari and Cyndi and Emily and Janine and Michelle for your damn correct answers, (so much for “hey clark, do another Contest with a DocTee as a prize, nobody gets the right answer in their first week here! lol)

Oh yeah! Almost forgot! (Jennifer would kill me if I didn’t put the number for the Saturday Night Drive !) We will be there tomorrow evening, ‘surrounded by Wakefield’ and in all likelihood so will (the aforementioned Jennifer) and DS#1 and Molly and Steve (and possibly even) roger! So call us!
The Call-in show is a lot like these Posts…but outloud and (sometimes) people will shout to be heard and other times if I ask a question that no one likes, total frickin silence (lol)  but fun in a sit-in-the-living-room-of the-house-of-a-friend-where-you-don’t-feel-like ‘Company’.

The title parenthetical? how the Doctrine is ‘for you and not for them’?  Ask us tomorrow! (or today…)

1)  well not funny in a ‘LMFAO’ way2

2)  more of a wry noting of a foible of one of the three personality types, who will remain nameless and unnoticed…for now3

3)  yeah, that4 is becoming apparent

4)  no, if you fail to see the humor, maybe it was not intended to make you laugh

5) having a new batch of DocTees being produced, shouldn’t be too much of a delay

Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one

  1. Steve says:

    ummm…I don’t get it.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

@steve (it is not that blog reading is meant to be a challenge and a puzzle) unfortunately, the same cannot be said for blog writing! (lol) As Julie’s Post about the difference between a niche blog and a personal blog brings home, there is a skill to convey the elements of an abstract idea

So I will say, if you enjoy the idea of ‘personality types’ and have a ‘key specific question’ one that might untangle the wordsalad the the Doctrine sometimes resembles, will be glad to help.
      Thanks for stopping by!

  2. Molly Molly M. says:

There are three black buttons at the top right of this page, labeled clarks, scotts, rogers. They give the premise of the theory.

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

thank you Molly! (lol I kinda forgot they were there!)
Now you have me thinking, Molly How well do those pages explain the Doctrine? I wrote them probably a couple of years ago, and suspect that I need to get there and bring them up to speed, stylistically, if in no other way, to the current form of this thing of ours.

(To anyone new reading this, Molly is a part of the 1st generation of Doctrine Readers and by virtue of this has a perspective on (how effective) the presentation of the Wakefield Doctrine is at any given time. Not so much the theory and cant, although she is more than versed in the theory, but the main challenge of writing the Post is to ‘splain it in such a way that a normal person, right off the (digital) street can get it, without too much difficulty or confusion.)

  3. Cari Lorine says:

Yay!! I’m glad I understand it! :) And, may I say, I think it’s really cool that you have a call-in show.

Oh, and of course you can email me. :) Happy Friday!

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

Very Good. (If you don’t mind my indulging in a bit of abstract categorization, my being a clark and such) you guys are part of the new generation of DocTee-wearing-Readers!
As a matter of fact, I just got back from the Tee Shirt place (trying someone local for this batch, the first were from an online place) and they said the next batch will be ready in a couple of weeks. The design will remain the same but, would a different color shirt make this Doctrine-sanctioned, causal and occasional sleepwear tee shirt even better?

Let us know… you are, of course, totally invited to call us up tomorrow night, we would all enjoy hearing from you (the others have told me that sometimes it takes 2 tries to get through but swear that it was worth the effort, lol)

  4. Emily says:

    I didn’t know I gave a correct answer, but yay me! :)

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

@ Emily lol I thought I saw a reply to the question posed in the ‘Mandatory Holiday’ Post, but I am sure that I saw your earlier, (one of the first) Comment last week about regarding the Saturday Night Drive Call-in

..but you, Emily are in what we appear to be calling the ‘2nd generation of Readers’ here at the Doctrine! Class of (…er that 2nd or 3rd week of October!), and what would be the point of being in a class with classmates like Cyndi and Cari and Janine and Michelle and them and not have a tee shirt?
It will be a couple of weeks, but you have totally earned a Wakefield Doctrine DocTee!

Ask one of the DownSprings like Jennifer or Molly or DS or Steve how convoluted the process was to get their hands on this fine, fine apparel. lol

  5. Cyndi says:

T-shirt. Cool. I love a great t-shirt and if you want to send one, sure!! I’ll wear it proudly. Will it say “clark”? lol But you don’t haveta send it if you get in a crunch with sending out all those t-shirts, lol.
In any case, your posts are always great fun to read. Tonight when I was in town, I was walking down the street before we got to our restaurant and kept saying to myself, “that’s a clark, there’s a roger and oh, that’s a scott.” HAHA. You’re in my head, Clark. :D Fun post. Keep it up!

    • clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

@Cyndi ‘hold that thought’ lol seriously, even though we have been reaching out through the blog a couple of 3 years, we have been hearing, pretty consistently that ‘once you know they are there, you can’t stop seeing them’
funny you should mention names on the shirt! we have been having a discussion lately about the design of the DocTee, what can be done to improve it, and the idea of a name (of the individual type) being specific to the wearer has been floated (actually it was Steve Crabtree who last pushed that particular idea). As you know (see the Fashion Page) the Wakefield Doctrine hats (for your damn heads) are specific to type, at least in that one of the 3 is highlighted in a different color thread. I have always liked my hat, but there is some gender factor there, as hats seem to hold less attraction to the womenfolk, here at the Doctrine. (Although we have photos from FOTDs who wear them to great effect! I’m thinking Nell Rose and ClairePeek, judging by the photos they sent in.
In any event, I’ll try the simple design for this first run, but expect a discussion to get started over improvements (to the design).

  6. Downspring#1 says:

Hey! This is great! Cari! Emily! Cyndi! I know one of you guys will be calling into the show:)
I love when a bunch of people call in and it’s all squished in the dashboard. LOL
It’s also great because it reminds me of conversations at the family dinner table (more so on holidays and when we had company) – loud, raucus, informative and entertaining!
