‘Of kayaks and cattle’… the Wakefield Doctrine (there are three personality types, which one are you?)

Welcome to the Wakefield Doctrine ( this is a lot of fun, trust me, I’m a clark! )

Last Night Saturday Night Drive:

  • Ms. AKH brought up the subject of kayaking
  • DS#1 talked about the deliberate effort to bring (her) rogerian aspect out… increasingly able to set this into motion
  • Molly spoke of ways to get rogers to do what you would want them to do
  • my own (contribution) was to try to present the challenges of knowing what another (personality) type’s reality is ‘really’ like  (lol… reality is really like)

All in all a most enjoyable time for all.

…you should call in next weekend!

Coming this Week

  • proposing a schema for describing reality ‘across’ personality types/worldview
  • ask the Question: why don’t you Write a Comment and/or Call in on Saturday in a variety of amusing ways
  • use the context of writing a Post in order to develop material for the Book Project
  • hopefully an idea for a new Contest
  • don’t be shy…have an idea for a Post or a Project or a Contest…. let us know, dammit!

clarkscottroger About clarkscottroger
Well, what exactly do you want to know? Whether I am a clark or a scott or roger? If you have to ask, then you need to keep reading the Posts for two reasons: a)to get a clear enough understanding to be able to make the determination of which type I am and 2) to realize that by definition I am all three.* *which is true for you as well, all three...but mostly one

  1. Molly Molly M. says:

If rogers can be identified by the high personal pronoun count, is it a scott or clark that seems to avoid use of them? Especially when writing about themselves.

I think I know the answer to this, but I am asking anyway.

  2. clarkscottroger clarkscottroger says:

Interesting question… context? writing or speaking?

Both clarks and scotts are very low on the use of personal pronouns, but for very different reasons.

scotts do not use personal pronouns (‘I, me’) simply because they are telling others what to do*

clarks don’t use pronouns simply because we are not that important (relative to the information that is being imparted and/or exchanged). For that matter, consider the use of parentheses by clarks in written communication (as opposed to speaking directly, you know?)

*on a more basic level they are not really speaking (or writing) but simply acting… but to be realistic, they do speak and write but with few pronouns

  3. Jennifer Wilson says:

Regarding lack of the use of personal pronouns by scotts. Go read any post at http://wakefielddoctrine.wordpress.com/ (written by this scott) and you’ll see this is true.

scotts use: ‘you’ more than rogers and clarks… so, (one must be wondering), which of the pronouns is/am/are the favorite of our clarks?

  5. Downspring#1 says:

    clarks?…..3rd fk’ing person. LOL

  6. clark says:

    lol

    who said that?

so we all agree then with Molly (and ‘KH and DS)?

rogers: “I AM, SO AM I”
    scotts!!!: you hear that?? scotts!!!
    …(clarks)

Let me give a shoutout! to the reader in Sunnyvale, CA who stopped by @ 7hrs ago via a very old Doctrine post. It was from Dec. 23, 2010 – …”rally round the family…with a pocket full of shells”. It was written coincidentally by yours truly, DS1 aka GirlieOnTheEdge. As a result of clicking on that link, I see that a clark, walking sufficiently in rogerian shoes (OK, at least 1 shoe) could make pretty good use of the pronoun “I”. LOL
Which causes me to bring up a topic oft discussed at the Doctrine roundtable – the notion of writing as “one of the others”. It is usually pretty easy to spot rogerian writers and in all honesty it is fairly obvious when a clark is “wielding the pen”. But what happens for example if I, a clark, feel particularly scottian one day and unusually rogerian the next. Would anyone say “hey, that’s a clark trying to sound like a scott, or that’s a clark trying to write like a roger? Or would I be able to “pass”? Is writing a legitimate litmus test for validating my ability/inability to inhabit the world of scotts and rogers?

Sunnyvale: it can be quite enlightening to speak with other Doctrine readers live. Did I mention fun?:) Last Saturday (on the Wakefield Doctrine Saturday Night Call In Show) I was relaying, in overly long clarklike fashion, a recent interaction at the grocery store with someone I have known casually for about 2 years. I can say in retrospect that I was “passing” as a roger (with a roger) until my brain heard “I’ll have to have you over for dinner some time” at which point the clark came out of the closet in a panic screaming “HOLY SHIT! OVER FOR DINNER?!”. Why the panic? Well, that’s the kind of shit we talk about on Saturday Nights. Everyday stuff pertaining to awareness of self, others, self-development and improvement of relationships, work stuff. You know – making life more simple and operationally smoother.
I be verbose here today. Someone pull the plu

    lo

  9. Molly Molly M. says:

I was inquiring about the peoples who write like this:

Enjoyed a long hike today. The weather was beautiful — perfect for this time of year! Had some of my favorite people in the world along. Was a great day. Gotta go now.

And I’m guessing it is a clark trait — not telling anyone what to do, just giving information.
    Agree? Disagree?

      agree

a clark with a fairly strong secondary scottian aspect ( the clark produces the ‘speaker-less voice’ style and the secondary scottian adds the ‘publicly enthusiastic’ tone of the note itself. )
